I still say when IndyCar 2005 worked, which wasn't often, it could be an amazing experience. The high-banked 1.5 and 2-milers could be really intense.

I forgot about Zeppo's WE league. Great stuff.

Really need to pick up Red Dead Redemption again. I had so many mixed feelings about trading it in in the first place, but felt like I'd done all I could with it.

Who was it that was responsible for that epic, one-man-against-the-world victory in Ghost Recon 2, where they were the last guy left and they just went prone and slinked through the bushes for the like 20 minutes, picking off the other team Die Hard style?

I also loved Midtown Madness 3, short-lived as it was.

Ah, that was me! Man, I'd forgotten about that! Yeah, my whole team was taken out, and it was me against every friggin' person on the other team, and I took out a few guys, then slinked in the tall grass, just rolling barely into the circle to capture the area. 15 second countdown while a couple of the enemy team frantically searched for me and fired shots in every direction, while my dead teammates cackled and yelled in the background. That was epic!

While I didn't like GR 2 as much as the first game and Island Thunder, Teal's 1 against 7 was one of the most amazing online performances ever. We were all howling with laughter in the afterlife lounge.

For me GR was the best online gaming experience ever. The maps were so good, and the slower pace of the game made it not only more tense but also better for communication.

Moto GP on the XBox was also a blast. I was terrible at that game but the competition and conversation were great, especially after the inevitable first-turn cornholing that always took place.

The first Gears of War was almost as awesome as GR. Nothing has ever topped the thrill of nailing someone with the chainsaw bayonet, and I loved the complaining about the shitty performance of the launcher and the shotgun -- usually hearing an explosion or several shotgun blasts, then the chainsaw, and then someone entering the afterlife area in the middle of a screaming rant about how they shot that m-fer in the face and still got sawed in half.

The Madden 10 league was also a lot of fun, especially the first season when we had a lot of owners.

I still have RDR and may have to get in a poker night -- I have never played the multiplayer.

I miss the GRAW nights so much. I still own GRAW and GRAW2 and refuse to sell them in case someone gets a case of nostalgia sometime. 16 player co-op was just epic as hell.

For some reason beyond BF2 I can't get into any new shooters they just bore me.

Ahhh.. the fun of the WE leagues is near the top of my list. i'd love to see a series of short run Fifa tournaments this summer.

Ghost Recon is still second to none in regards to the most enjoyable online shooter experience. We actually used tactics and communication and as mentioned above, we crawled through the bushes. Damn I miss those kinds of nights.

Ghost Recon
NHL2K3
Links
Toca 2
NFL2K5
That Microsoft baseball game, can't think of it's name.

Numerous racing games where I went backwards on the last track to crash into PK right about when he was about to win the race. Too bad there are no recordings of his reactions when he use to go apeshit.

That it was. Not talking specific moments, all the dsp leagues I remember playing in were great.

TOCA2 racing league
WE league
NFL2K league
Madden league
NCAA league
NHL ICE Dragon club play

The poker nights also kicked ass and as evidenced with RDR last week, they still kick ass.

Live really has been awesome. A million hours of fun with the games but even more impportantly I enjoyed hanging out with you clowns and just laughing.

Nice thread resurrection, Slumber!

Since those games I listed in 2005, I have to say I'm now a huge fan of 'Integrated Friends Scoreboard' games, where I can see and chase friends times or scores while still 'in' the game proper. Stuff like Trials, Hydro Thunder, the NFS autolog stuff, etc...

I missed the DSP glory days apparently, but GOW1 provided a lot of LOL moments. The WE leagues were also good, and if the Ice Dragons actually won more often, that would be pretty epic.

Well whatever it was, not having heard PK really let loose on a profanity-filled tirade is one of my great regrets in life.

For me it is simply three. Ice Dragons, win or lose, GRAW, and a little pond hockey. All were/are great great times.

They weren't always tirades. Sometimes they were profanity-laced odes to joy, soliloquies or manifestos.

F*CK YOU, CARL! :)

"This isn't Carl. This is Carl's dad."

Silence. 8O

:) :) :)

My most memorable night of gaming. Doubt anything will top it! I'm almost in tears now, laughing about it. :)

The incident with Carl's dad was one of the funniest things I've ever experienced online.

--PK yelling F-YOU CARL over and over into his mic
--Hearing a very measured response of "This isn't Carl, this is Carl's dad"
--A few moments of total f-ing silence as we processed this
--An explosion of laughter from everyone

Don't forget my incredibly lame attempt at a recovery after the silence and laughter.

"Oh, hi, Mr. Carl. I'm sorry for that. Truthfully, we love your son. He's a great kid. I just like to goof around with him. We're all a lot older than he is, but he fits right in with us because he's such a mature, cool kid. Hey, Mr. Carl, I'm really sorry for talking like that. I was just joking ... "

Good thing Carl's dad was as cool as his son.

The one thing I remember about Carl: He had Lou Rawls' DNA in his larynx. I don't think I've ever heard an 18-year-old kid with such a resonant voice. It was practically an octave lower than Greg Oden.

I came to the online gaming party very late, but Zep and Web's wild swings in the direction of a Scouse accent on Beatles Rock Band, race nights on Forza or Race Pro and some of DSP's finest old faces playing Wreck The Limey on Flatout: Ultimate Carnage are among my fondest gaming memories of any kind.

Though I didn't have Live when XBL was at its height, I have had the good fortune to experience the following while gaming online:

- PK on a profanity-filled tirade
- PK introducing me to the expression "FULL LOTION BUCKETS" (which, incidentally, must be capitalised)
- PK singing me a George Harrison song during rFactor Poker Night

Truly, I have lived a life that's full.
