I guess I shouldn't invite you to one of my Atari 2600 playing parties, eh?wco81 wrote:I'm surprised nobody has done a DC emu yet, although I guess it had a proprietary disc format (but I'm sure DC game images are somewhere on the Net).
But I have zero interest in playing games from obsoleted systems anyways. I tried emus for the Genesis and I can't believe I ever tolerated those kinds of graphics.
Anyone have the new PS2 Slim?

I love my new PSTwo, but the only reason why I have it is to take on travel. It's boxed up right now and just waiting for the next trip to State College, Pa.
I NEED my HD, for a couple of reasons.
1. New SOCOM II Maps
2. I am a huge fan of HDLoader. I won't lie, I've rented and ripped a few games to it... but honestly I just love how much the loading times have been cut down.
Especially with NCAA Football 2005. The PS2 version really bogs down when it switches to the cut scenes of the fans in the stands or when it cuts to a replay. Rip that bad boy to the HDL and it's no longer an issue. Smooth as silk.
That and the fact that I don't have to keep swapping disks out to play a different game is very nice.
Love it!

Just Google it Javi.
I believe the company is no longer in business. So you have to find an online source for it.
Only thing which won't work with it are online games because it checks the disc when you try to connect.
I think the max capacity is like 127 GB.
Fry's has a sale of a 120 GB 7200 RPM Maxtor for $60. That is as good as any price on pricewatch.com. Only thing I wonder is if the higher RPM will make the drive too hot for the confines of the PS2.
Maybe if I can pick up a copy of the software locally...

I ordered mine from this site and had no problems.

How much did they charge for shipping Boom?
Where did they ship out of? Looks like it could be a Canadian site. I tried to order some electric shaver part from a Canadian site and it sat in US customs for 3 weeks because of increased security from 9/11.
Are you able to install really recent games? Because you wonder if Sony has tried to disable it somehow in newer game releases.

Can you use the HD for saves like an xbox? or do you still have to use a mem card to save then transfer?Boom wrote:I have a 7200 RPM HD in my PS2 and have had zero problems with heating.wco81 wrote:Just Google it Javi.

Can't store saves on the HD with HDL, so you still have to use the memory cards. This just allows you to rip your games to the HD and run them strait from there which greatly reduces loading times, etc due to reading directly from the HD instead of the disk.
WCO,
Can't remember how much they charged for shipping. I pre-ordered if from there and I got it about a week after it released. Mainly because they had so many orders they had to make two shipments. I must have been low on the list.
I think the place is in the UK to be honest, but can't remember for sure. I'll do some research to double check and get back to you on that.
Here's a link that shows you all the games and whether or not they are compatible.

Yes, yes, I know exactly what you mean. I use HDAdvance and the games have no loading times. Its a beaut to be able to switch games on the fly with out having to switch discs. Go to www.HDAdvance.comjLp vAkEr0 wrote:wco81 wrote:Now an HD Loader and hard drive might be worth spending $100-120 on.
But the next generation will probably be out before I can finish all those games on the HDD.
mm HD loader..... Please share some info of it please..........
I purchased mine from www.modchip.com. Got it in 5 days paying only 8 dollars for shipping. I am playing GTASA on it. Some newer games don't work such as Soul Calibur II but still a great product nonetheless.wco81 wrote:How much did they charge for shipping Boom?
