6.1 million players in the beta. That's a pretty good sign for them.

Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
Yeah, it was really, really good IMO. It gave just enough of an idea that I had a constant pull to play it, but near the end when I had nothing to do but Dark Zone, I was just waiting for the full release. Now, if the full release doesn't have a lot more varied loot, greater mission counts, and if those skill/perk/trait trees don't give enough freedom to differentiate your character, who knows.
But the beta was an absolute hit in my house. Absolutely cannot wait to play the full version, but it'll likely be PS4 primarily.

I played the 1st Beta for about 20 minutes and played this current beta for 10+ hours. I enjoyed it but had some issues with some bugs. I also really need more information on how the PVP zones work. WTF is an extraction?

Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
It starts to make sense after a bit. I only really got ganked one time, and it was due to my own stupidity. In the Dark Zone, you'll fight elite enemies alongside other Agents who don't have to be in your group. More often than not, you'll be fighting with people and not against them. You'll help each other take down boss enemies, grab good loot, but all loot in the zone is "contaminated". You have to get it to a helicopter to extract the loot, and then it appears in your stash to use.
The trick is, you have to get to an extraction zone, and then call for an extraction (which takes 90 seconds) for it to arrive. At that point, it's on site for 30 seconds before it departs. In that 90 seconds, everybody in the zone knows it's coming. And, they'll know that everybody coming there has loot to extract. That's where you see the chaos ensue.
Guys will be working together for a long time, but suddenly when there's something on the line, they turn on each other and a fire fight erupts at the chopper. If you can take those other guys down, grab their swag, and then load it on the chopper, you get away with it. The problem is the second you turn on somebody, you're marked with a red skull that everybody across the map can see, as well. Your entire group gets flagged with you, and that turns into an impromptu massive manhunt where all of the self-appointed player police tend to hunt down the rogue agents and kill them, instead.
Most of the time, I was smart enough to get my stuff out without issue. But the last run I did, I came across one of the "gold star elite" enemies and two other guys were fighting it. I hopped in and saved one of them (ironic) when he was dropped, and then helped kill the boss. When it was done, one of the guys was standing right on the boss, so when I came over and grabbed my loot, they instantly opened fire. They knew I had stuff, I had become too comfortable working with random people, and I almost killed one of them, but 2 on 1 was too much. Lost my "blue" loot due to an oversight. I should have hung back, waited for it to clear, and then nabbed my loot when it was open. But I was so predictable, I died for it.
I don't even like competitive shooters much, but the Dark Zone had me captivated. It's sort of got that "Walking Dead" vibe to it. How well do you REALLY know the guys you're with? With a good group, you could make a killing (literally) in there and come out with awesome loot if you don't mind backstabbing people. But that Mexican standoff near the chopper is always some of the most intense stuff available, in my experience.
It could go smoothly, or in the blink of an eye, it could be total warfare. And when 1 or 2 guys "wins" that battle that started with 8 or 10 people? They probably get off with a sh*t ton of loot, so there's something to be gained.

Thanks! That initial "is this guy gonna be cool or shoot me" interaction is kinda cool. I only had a couple people just open fire on me. I spent most of my time exploring the area. I was a bit confused as to who was AI and who was real.
Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
AI=purple and yellow health bars, they would "ping" as red objects in your radar. People would ping as white and if you aim at them, you'd get "Non-hostile agent" as part of their name. Then you'd have the red skulls, which meant they were bad putty tats. Those guys were fun to kill.
Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
I very much enjoyed the time I spent in the public Beta. It took me a while to get used to the mechanics, but once I got my hands on a better weapon and started using my abilities better it started to click. I did the main missions and a few side missions and a number of "encounters" and I like the way these different tiers are set up. However I never did venture into the DZ.
It's a game I know I'd enjoy a lot more in a small group of friends than by myself, but as a solo experience it wasn't too bad outside of the main missions which clearly want to be done by a group. I got through them, although the subway one took me a lot of tries to get through the final stage, but the side missions and certainly the encounters were much more manageable for me as a solo player.
I could see this game having lots to offer, assuming the number of missions and their variety matches the size of the city the game is set in. I could see doing certain missions several times without it getting too boring, especially with the difficulty options and the loot variety. And then getting into the DZ stuff with a group for the good loot is clearly the right way to go about it. Unfortunately, I'm just not playing regularly enough nor at times that would be good to join up with you guys anymore these days. Maybe that will change and I can carve out a regular night for gaming.

Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
I'm beyond pumped, of course I leave for Vegas on the 1tth for a week so I'll need to OD on playing for 3 days.
I'm considering getting the XB1 version as well if there is enough interest here.

Played a bit on XB1 this afternoon and it was up and running. Didn't play the beta, so I was dumped in without a clue. Like what I see so far...

Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
Was able to get into Uplay just now and even though I preloaded I now have to download another 8 gigs of data.
Hoping to play this game before I leave on Friday
If there is enough guys playing XB1 when I get back from Vegas I'll buy that version and join you.

Got to level 04 when I started getting dumped on and off. Servers are busy now and I assume things are not to get any better tonight.
Re: Tom Clancy's The Division
Been playing for a little over an hour and it's a damn good game. It's smoother than the beta
. I'm at a level 3 and loving it.
