I will say that the game feels and plays very familiar to the Definitive Edition, albeit much much prettier and thus far more early excitement and action. I recently completed the past game (2 months or so ago), so this feels like a continuation of that, but nothing necessarily remarkably new (granted, there is a lot more exploring thus far, which is really cool). If it sounds like I'm being negative, I'm not. This is one of those series that if you have played past TR games everything feels very comfortable. TR and Uncharted in my opinion are neck and neck for the best adventure style games in its genre.

I've been playing through the Uncharted Collection and it just feels more like a shooter with a treasure hunter theme layered on-top.

I know you weren't being negative but I'm not really interested in them changing mechanics to "innovate" as I loved the last game. It was perfectly paced between exploration, action and cut scenes. It really made me feel like I was living a movie, I'd say I like it more than the Uncharted games.

So I'm actually kind of glad it is similar. I saw a lot of people posting they struggled with the early parts of the game and I went pretty much right through it as the old mechnics kicked back in. If the story is on par with the last one I will be really happy.

Interesting

I played the first tomb raider game that was free last month on xbl.

Great game. Then I tried uncharted collection on ps4 and it was total crap.

Tr just killed it in every aspect. I wondered why uncharted got so much hype.

Article is very accurate.

Totally agree. The Uncharted series is one of the best series ever. The Last of Us, which is the best single player game I may have ever played, borrowed a ton from Uncharted. Tomb Raider and Uncharted are both great games. Let's face it, Tomb Raider's reboot the past few years has taken a lot from Uncharted's success. I love them both.

The superb Tomb Raider reboot was an unexpected surprise since the series was putting out average games up to that point. So far Rise of TR has been as great as the last one, but this time I expected it.
I'd say its a close call between these last two games and Uncharted 2 for best action adventure game. Uncharted 3 I thought was not quite as good as 2. Tomb Raider for me has the nostalgia factor as well. I remember playing the first one on PC with the mountains that were shaped like pyramids.

Play Tomb Raider first, then play Uncharted. You'll see how superior Tomb Raider is to Uncharted. But I'll let you 'decide' for yourself

I just couldn't resist

Metacritic scores:

Uncharted Drake's Fortune : 88 percent

Uncharted 2 : 96 percent

Uncharted 3 : 92 percent

Not exactly a poorly reviewed series. Quite the contrary.

I've enjoyed all the Uncharted games but I said the article was spot on because I like the Tomb Raiders games, at least the last one and this one better. They are less on rails then the UC series. If UC4 is the same old same old with a new story I think that is will not be as good as this game.

I don' think anyone was addressing me anyway just wanted to clear up my thoughts.

I dearly loved the first reboot, so this was going to be a no brainer for me. Of course, my cheap ass is still on the 360, but it hasn't disappointed in the slightest. It's still a looker, and I love the expanded exploration and plethora of things to do and collect. The bears can kiss my ass, though... LOL.

What a beautiful game. Top 8 in my list easily for this year, even the cut scenes are a joy to follow. With all the heavyweights lately like Halo 5, BO 3, Fallout 4 and BF Stars Wars coming up, TR maybe became second choice by many gamers, but so far it's been a heck of a ride. A few tries for certain jumps but overall a fine experience.

Lara's strong survivalbility reminds me a lot of Ellie from 'The Last of Us'.

Appreciate it, but not just yet. Just can't justify the expense with all else that we have going on. Until they turn off the spigot to the 360, I'll probably stand pat. The only thing I've had to weather is the SWBF footage, but I can deal with it...;)
