Fellas.
I'm thinking about picking this up for the 360. How does this play online? Smooth? Lag filled?
Any input would be appreciated.

I just bought the XBO digital version of this over XBL for $40 late last night. I'd assume it is still on sale.

Really loving the next gen version of this but man is it buggy for me. I can't even complete a game as I keep getting booted back to the dashboard (xbone). Looks like this is an issue on both systems. Anyone having the same issues?

Is there no way to load other people's sliders? The default pro/simulation seems so "stingy".

Re: NBA 2k14
I've had zero issues on the Xbox One. I've not played any online games, and mostly played NBA Today games, but I've not had freezes or crashes. I'm playing the digital download version.Bakes wrote:Really loving the next gen version of this but man is it buggy for me. And I'm fully aware that by having posted this I will head downstair to play a game, only to have it crash.

Outside of the first day on the PS4 (which the servers were getting destroyed) I have no had a single issue with the game. I've played about 20 games in my MyGM and about 3 or 4 in MyPlayer mode and nary a problem.Bakes wrote:Really loving the next gen version of this but man is it buggy for me. Yep. Love the game. I skipped last year's version so I have been getting used to the controls and finally got to the point where things are coming second nature. Originally I was annoyed that the game was a bit too animation driven but I'm changing my tune now that I have a clue with the controlsdbdynsty25 wrote:Outside of the first day on the PS4 (which the servers were getting destroyed) I have no had a single issue with the game. DB have you tried 'The Park' mode yet? Looks cool but I haven't tried it yet...plus I skimmed the menus for it and didn't see it anywhere.

Re: NBA 2k14
Too bad there is no Online Association for next gen (myGM is offline only).
http://www.pastapadre.com/2013/11/08/ne ... er-offline
Instead it brought back the old 2K Online League structure, where all teams (2 or more) must be controlled by users.
I'd like to set up a small (4 to 8 teams) casual league for XB1. Pace would be 1 game per week to ease scheduling issues, since all games will be between league members.
PM me or post here if you're interested.

It kills me that they do not have the mid 90's era Phoenix Suns. The one brief period in which I was a huge NBA fan was the mid 90's, as I had a roommate that was a pretty devout Knicks fan. We played ridiculous amounts of NBA Jam and NBA Live. Every game he was the Knicks, and I was whatever team would annoy him the most to lose to. My favorites were Orlando and Indiana. But I also used Phoenix and Utah a ton. But never the Bulls, because that felt like cheating.
I'd buy a $60 copy of NBA 1K995 with full rosters.

I've been bitching about the lack of any classic Suns team. They should have 2004 too since they basically ushered in this era of NBA ball. Run run run.Aristo wrote:It kills me that they do not have the mid 90's era Phoenix Suns. Started 'My Career' last night and it's pretty cool. The game is really growing on me. I found 'The Park' also. It's in the My Career menus.

I'm really loving this, but I'm having pretty frequent crashes. Unfortunately this looks to be something happening across platforms, probably related to the 2k servers. I've had a few games blown up this way, and it's starting to get irritating.

I hadn't been able to even complete a play now game without getting booted back to the dashboard. After searching around a bit I took a look at my network settings and noticed my NAT was set to "Moderate". I followed a guide online to get it to "open" and lo and behold I've been able to complete 3 straight games. I don't know much about those settings or if that was really the cause but something worth checking.
Re: NBA 2k14
Thanks, I'll 2x check this afternoon. I opened the ports a few weeks ago and it was open then, but who knows... Worth looking into. Thanks again.Bakes wrote:I hadn't been able to even complete a play now game without getting booted back to the dashboard. Play it on a real next gen system like the PS4. Works fine.RobVarak wrote:NAT is open and it happened again this afternoon. Starting to get a bit pissed.

That said, might just be a router compatibility thing. I've never had network connection issues with mine. What are you using?
Re: NBA 2k14
I don't think it's a networking issue. Maintaining my XBL connection just fine. Using a Linsksys E4200 that has been outstanding for over a year at least.dbdynsty25 wrote:Play it on a real next gen system like the PS4. And according to several reports it's a cross-platform problem, Mr. Sony Fanboy-san.

I've also only played it three times

Again tho...I know multiple people with NBA 2k14 on the PS4, and none have this problem. Multiple do on the XB1...so fanboy or not, it appears more prevalent on the XB1. I only played a few games of NBA 2k14 on the XB1 before I had to scrap it and the horrible vibrating trigger ball handling but I didn't disconnect at least.
Re: NBA 2k14
Not being an NBA fan I've ignored this series for years. I did play lots of Jordan vs. Bird and Lakers vs. Celtics back in the day so I do have some knowledge of the sport. After reading a bunch of good things about 2K14, I decided to take the plunge on the PS4.
I am amazed by the atmosphere and the production values. Just great stuff. The problem is that even on Pro, with a good team like the Clippers, I am struggling to win a game in a short season that I started. I haven't looked into running plays or any of the more advanced stuff, just using the pass/shoot/block/steal buttons and flicking the right stick in random directions for now. I think I have learned how to back an opponent down with my center and get 2 points from the paint, but other than that, I'm just taking shots when I seem to be open.
Where should I start if I want to improve my game against the CPU? (I doubt I'll ever take the game on-line)

FWIW, I love the rumbling triggers, especially on free throws.
And you'll pardon me if I don't use the deviants who comprise your social circle as a representative sample of players.
2k has said it's a problem on both platforms (and released patches on both and is readying new patches for both), so I feel pretty comfortable saying it's a cross-platform problem.

Re: NBA 2k14
Welcome to my world last year, I think it was, Leadfoot. What helped me immensely was turning on the play art on the court. Knowing how the play is designed and running what they call helps a lot. And get used to understanding the left stick is your feet, and the right stick is the ball. It sort of makes sense after a bit, where you want to do a stop and maybe spin back away from a defender, and you flick the right stick to the right and then circle it up/down. After a while it's like "damn, it all sort of makes sense".
But other than running the plays they're actually calling, there's not a bunch I've seen that is that magic "ah hah!" moment. From one noob to another, you just have to sort of take your beatings and learn the shot timing and realize you're not going to consistently shut down another good team every time down the court, even on Pro. I'm sure seasoned basketball guys can switch defenses and maintain some vice-like squeeze on the opposing team's offense, but as a newbie, I can't. I just really enjoy how much it seems like basketball when I do fire it up, and in same-couch multiplayer, the game is golden.
