PK, you maybe into something about the shooting. I did noticed it during the mini games but not much during gameplay. Mind you, I've been playing on WC which means I hardly had a chance to even shoot. But I wanted it to try on Pro and scored a couple of curved goals but it wasn't much different from 13 in that area. However, the AI comes at you in a much organized matter no matter which level you play.

Agree 100 percent on the AI. Much better anticipation off the ball by the CPU defense. Nice.

I think the FIFA demo felt and played great....this will be a release day purchase for me. This has become EA's must have game at least for me. Compared to the NHL demo, it at least felt like a new game.

Im gonna post in one thread but it goes for both games . Same s*** different year.

Both games defenders dont tackle they close down yes but thats it, in pes if the ball is at the attackers feet in the box they run away from the ball. The result of this is no fouls ive played like 20 games of pes and been fouled once(that was called) should of had plenty of others.

Ariel game in Fifa is just shite again, why oh why are my 6'2" centre backs been constantly out jumped by Aguero , Silva, Xavi all for goals by the way.
I was concerned after a video of this of Fifa , i was right.
Fifa Players still Zig zag jump back and forth with the ball at the feet for no f***in reason i might add.

Both games are better than last year, Fifa for sure, im so disappointed in pes right now though. While the new engine and player movement is quite brilliant the goalies are still Fecking morons and am i the only one who isnt over the used to be cute extra touch by the defenders bobbling off a knee and what not to lead to an open net for the Ai, it happens way too often just like the defenders in both games standing like bean poles on Arial balls while the forwards leap like salmon attacking the same ball.
Goddamn in pes now i swear its fifa 12 where if you didnt time it just perfect you cant head it and would lead to a chested ball all over the pitch.

So disappointed right now sorry but what i say is true and if you can look past it all then fair play to you i just dont know if i can take another year of it for single player. :x :x :x

14 demo definately has a different feel than 13. Seems a little more stiff in the controls and not as smooth as 13. Maybe its because of the demo.

Also why they have to f w/ the cameras? Why does EA always do this? Dynamic cam in the demo is like tele cam last year.

I'll probably still buy it but PES is downloading while I type this.

Played more, on both the PC and the 360.

Meh.

Some things are definitely better but like PES I'm just underwhelmed. I know this may sound facetious but I am genuinely glad they've improved the godawful menus from the last few years - FIFA 14's menus are so much cleaner.

That's right, after 2 hours I'm most impressed by the menus.

I am becoming a crusty f***....

lol

Less let down by this than I am by PES though. Fox Engine....pfffft.

Here's one of my niggling, longtime beefs with the FIFA series that still hasn't been addressed in the FIFA 14 demo: The CPU almost never passes the ball in the air unless it's a cross from the wings deep in the offensive zone.

The CPU never attempts a lofted through ball or changes field with a long pass to the opposite wing in the defensive zone or midfield.

Unrealistic. Annoying.

Good to know that another team plays just like my real life over 35 team. Does the AI ignore the entire left side of the pitch on the attack as well?

Couldn't agree more. I was very impressed with the demo, it really seems the devs made an effort to improve the game. I'll wait though and make this one of my first purchases on the PS4. Looking forward to it!

I skipped last year and I just downloaded the ST and played a few games. Let me ask a silly question but how the hell do I set up a single player league or tournament? I can't find option for online leagues, playing games of the week, etc, etc. but my favortie thing to do was set up a tourney and play.

I must be missing something obvious.

What I find most noticeable this year, is that you really have to pass and possess as much as you can and build your gameplay from there. Unlike previous years where people would just find teams with speedy players, sprint down the wings and look for a tall guy. Play against any top team and good luck trying to steal the ball away in the higher settings. The through balls are not as precise and with the passing set at manual, patience is key to having an organized attack. The one- two touches are nice too, just enjoying this version overall.

So no one can answer my question? If I can't play offline league and tournaments I will be passing on this.

I'm not sure if PES 2014 is that much improved or if FIFA 14 is stagnant, but the lack of variety in CPU offense in FIFA 14 is more pronounced than ever this year.

Every single team in the demo plays the ball on the deck through midfield, looking to play a through ball to the middle of the box. I've yet to see a CPU team change field with a cross in their end or the midfield, and I'm not even seeing that many crossing attempts into the box by the CPU.

Disappointing, as the slower, more patient buildup play in FIFA 14 is an encouraging improvement. The ball and player physics also are very nice. But when buildup takes nearly the same f*cking route on every possession by the CPU, the game feels unrealistic and dull.

The more I play PES 14, the more I appreciate its superb single-player AI compared to FIFA 14.

Play, More, highlight load tournament, right stick once or twice.

I think that is what you are looking for Dan.

I find that hard to believe. It's been a hallmark of the series from the very start, how can it be any worse now that it has traditionally been?

It is disappointing to hear, though. I'm sure the game will be fun in head to head and in OTP mode, and if the Ultmate Team is not draconian in its distribution of credits, I might spend time there again, but it's sad to hear that' it will be the same ol', same ol' when it comes to v CPU play, which is to say, every team plays the same.

As I said in the original post, that sensation may be exacerbated by the impressive variety of CPU offensive strategies I see in the PES 2014 demo.

FIFA should be a very fun online game, as you said. But it has a ways to go offline.

I think FIFA closed the gap to PES and perhaps passed it as an offline game in the 2013 game cycle. But PES appears to have regained its offline throne this year, based on the demos. The new Fox Engine used with PES is impressive, creating a marked improvement in ball and player physics and strategic realism.

Pk, if you get the game keep an eye out for this guy to do his sliders "Zjac7" His Fifa 13 sliders got some variety from the cpu teams i was very impressed with how he broke it down and his reasoning and it worked. It actually was quite enjoyable at times hes over at OS.
It will be the only way ill be doing any single player with 14 thats for sure.

Thanks for the tip, you Corona and Limey f*ck. :) Appreciate it!

Might be an option. My sons are dead-set against getting PES because it's "too hard." So I may succumb to the least common denominator and keep the peanut gallery happy by buying FIFA 14. But I'll sure as hell keep an eye out for a sale on PES 2014. It's the FAR superior single-player game this year, based on the demos.

Re: FIFA 14 News

I will get it tomorrow/day one (mainly because I am a sucker for anything and everything football) but I don't think I could be less excited for FIFA this year. I know partially because in the past year I'm not able to get online at the same time as everyone else to play online teams but also because the demo was kind of meh. Teams felt samey. Control was better but nothing mindblowing.

Since I'm not going to play online much (and if I am its going to be Battlefield and GTA) I may just get the PC version...

I have pre-ordered the PC version of PES 14 because I did find that demo more fun the more I played it but even then with the lack of stadiums, no weather and (apparently) some big launch issues I'm not super-excited about that either.

Maybe I'm just becoming/become a crusty f@ck. Probably that.
