Lets not get carried away. There could always be another fake "infield fly" throwing a wrench into the plan. LOL. Plus, we still haven't seen a fully healthy Braves team yet, and they are still in first. It's great to see really. Heyward comes back next week, Beachy in a month or two and then we can see how good they can really be. The pitching has really faltered of late (with the exception of Minor), so Beachy getting back is imperative IMO. He's the only power strikeout type pitcher, but of course, he's coming off of TJ. And now Venters is going back to James Andrews to get his already Tommy John'd elbow looked at again. Huge blow to the bullpen.

My hatred for Dodger stadium lessens each time the Braves go in and blow the home team out when I decide to attend. Makes getting out of the stadium a breeze when no one else is left in the 9th.

Former Mets' pitcher Kris Benson escaped gun-wielding 'ninja' wife after she asked for a lighter, 911 call reveals

Former Mets pitcher Kris Benson calmly fled from his gun-wielding, bullet-proof-vest-wearing wife after she asked him for a cigarette light, according to 911 recordings made public today.

Crazed “Baseball Wife” Anna Benson allegedly confronted the right-hander Sunday night at his Georgia house and then asked for a smoke, allowing him a base path out of this jam.

“She told me to go get a lighter for her to smoke a cigarette,” Kris Benson told a 911 dispatcher. “When I left the room, I just did a beeline for the basement.”

The 911 recording was first posted early this morning on TMZ.com.

Benson was incredibly composed throughout his 911 chat, even as he was hiding in the basement.

“My soon-to-be-ex wife has gotten into my house. She’s brandishing a gun,” he said. “She’s in the house and I’m downstairs in the basement.”

Benson didn’t stay down there for long, and he eventually escaped into a neighbor’s backyard.

Ummm...he didn't have a choice. The only reason he's not Lance Armstrong Jr. is because he hasn't filed lawsuits against those slandering him. He's still a prick and he isn't taking accountability for anything. Even his "statements" that were prepared by the MLBPA don't accept any responsibility. All lip service to get his slightly reduced sentence. And yeah...not exactly a bad thing to miss the rest of this season for him anyway. His thumb hurts and the Brewers are in the basement. Yeah, real difficult to do.

He had the choice to admit his guilt the first time around, yet he chose to lie to baseball due to a technicality, a loophole if you wish. And yeah, he didn't directly admitted to taking PES to his fans but he apologized for his 'mistakes'. Hmmm, wonder what those mistakes are? Good riddance.

And as DB said, this punishment was little more than a wrist slap. Braun isn't hurting for money, he has been hurt for a good chunk of the season, and the Brewers suck. Oh, woe is Ryan.

The best part of this punishment is that there's no way back for this guy. His reputation in the public's eye is ruined. He's a liar and a cheater. His MVP award also should be erased from the record books, and he should be forced to pay to charity any bonuses he made for making the All-Star team when he was using.

By accountability I meant that the d*****bag didn't prolong the inevitable as he did the first time around. He was pushed to tell the truth before the season started but chose not to. And yeah, slapping him with the remaining of the season is like sending an elementary kid to the principal office. Take PED, and look for another career, it should be a lifetime ban.

Take his tainted MVP award away and if possible rescind his contract.

Luckily they have (or had) seven starters. Lost Maholm to the DL last week as well The good news is that now we get to see the phenom Wood pitch as a starter and Beachy is coming back from Tommy John, so if there was any time to lose a starter or two, it was right now. Reinforcements are ready.

In the AL, I really like what the Rays are doing, Myers can hit it a mile, Price is healthy again. They'll be a handful.

Ex-Cub Frank Castillo dead. how sad. he was a good pitcher, just was on so many terrible cubs teams. I remember he was the first cub in a long time at that time to almost pitch a no-hitter. I think he got into the 9th inning and lost it. RIP.

I really cannot explain why the Nationals are so bad. It literally makes no sense. I wouldn't be surprised if next year they come back with essentially the same team and win the division going away. I'm pretty sure this season is a fluke for the Nats. The Braves are set for quite a while however, with an extremely young team so they certainly will have something to say about that. Should be fun for the next few years as the rest of the division is pretty garbage and that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon.
