Colorado State is good. Not great to lose in the first round, but that team came to play. Mizzou...not so much.
Yeah, Colorado State played great.. Mizzou is just really inconsistent this year. Looking forward to focusing on SLU now.

Whew! Marquette almost gave me a heart attack-my brackets are already tremendously screwed up as it is! Great game...

Now it's Gonzaga's turn to make my bracket into a birdcage liner...

EDIT: Well, it's officially in the bottom of the cage now...sheesh...way to throw a lead, Zags...CRAZY!

What a game between ISU and OSU. Best college game I've seen in a long time! What an ending and a heartbreaker for ISU.

Another ugly first half by KU, only to come out with some half time adjustments. Was not very impressed with UNC. I think KU's run stops with a loss to Michigan however.

UNC is yesterday's news, and I think Ol' Roy's days might be numbered. KU wasn't pretty at first, but they got it done. But I'm telling you what-Florida Gulf Coast is legit. Those boys can play. Hope they pull this one out...they just might be my new Cinderella team...

agree with that. If he was black, he'd be labeled something else. This cat posts about driving drunk and he's a media darling.

UNC is in a building year. they lost 5 guys to the draft last season and could have lost a couple more. They'll reload and rebuild and be ready to go deep next year and the year after. They didn't have any size and it showed yesterday and almost cost them the Maryland game in the ACC tourney. Roy isn't going anywhere until he decides to retire.

Time for the annual PSA that close games aren't necessarily good games.

All I will say that I got a chance to go to both FCGU games and they were fantastic. At first everyone in Philly was like who are these guys, but with their high-flying go-go-go play, it was like a home game for them in the arena everyone was so into it. Tons of fun.

That's going to be a fun game to watch. I only hope that KU somehow gets by Michigan so I have a desire to watch it. I'll probably tune in regardless.

FCGU in my opinion is much better than a 15 seed obviously. They hung with Duke until the last 6 or so minutes. They beat Miami early in the year. I wouldn't be surprised if they give Florida a real close game.

Not to say they didn't deserve to win, but the refs blew a big call late in the game when a Miami player clearly deflected the ball out of bounds. I wasn't rooting for an upset as I truly believe Miami is a better team than Illinois, but it would have been made the game more interested if the Illini had retained possession.

Yup, huge call, but the makeup phantom loose ball foul call on the ball that was batted up and down a few times at the rim a possession later, evened that out. If anything it was an over the back foul on the Illinois player. It all evens out, usually. That said, Miami will lose to Marquette. I'm not confident in them at all when Denard Scott is injured/has blurred vision/whatever. He's been MIA all tourney. And Larkin looked really tired most of that game...hopefully it really just was the specific defense that Illinois was playing (hard traps outside of the free throw line and switching everything). Should be a good game either way.

Actually, it doesn't. At least not over the course of a single game. There have been many studies along these lines. It's the biggest structural problem with basketball on all levels, albeit one that we've grown to accept because there isn't really any alternative that results in a perfectly officiated game.

lost to Lipscomb twice which is a small Church of Christ school in Nashville. I think Donovan gets 3 days to watch tape on them and they will run them off the court. FGCU sure was fun to watch though.

Sure is a good thing I didn't say "without a doubt, every single game ever played is evenly officiated".

Lipscomb IS a small CoC school in Nashville, but that doesn't mean anything. Attending Lipscomb's annual basketball camp was required for us when I played high school ball, as Coach Meyer was one of the best in the business at the game. He's retired now, but that school puts out some fantastic basketball teams. Besides, FGCU is hardly a big school itself, so...

yea, had to go to those camps myself when I was in junior high. Never looked forward to it. Meyer isn't there and Lipscomb had 12 wins this year.

Man, I always looked forward to Meyer's camps. Must be the masochist in me...lol. Seriously, that man was an awesome coach. Went about 4 years in a row, and got the hell beat out of us. LOVED it. I know Lipscomb didn't win alot this year, but sometimes, a team just has your number.

I didn't think waking up at 6 on my summer vacation was fun! but, his camps were probably the best ones you could go to in the state.

There are probably more peaks and valleys than usual. The bad basketball has been really bad, but there have still been a lot of really exciting games. There's a good mix of Cinderellas and solid teams in the sweet 16, which usually makes for a good second weekend.
