My least favorite part was the stung grenade UAV. I really think they put UAV's in this game so girls could play and not have to worry about mixing it up :)
I was basically just looking to kill you and your invisible pixie dust on that last map.

As I said, I think it's totally ludicrous to have the bomb go invisible as well.

I agree with Naples about the UAV. I realized that with the small teams it wasn't worth it, both because it took me out of play as an attacker and because there were so few enemy targets to light up. I switched to the armed UAV and the sentry gun at that point.

It's a very different game with 3-4 per side than with a full room.

Tons of fun, despite being a glorified sparring partner for Naples. :)

What's weird is sometimes I had the bomb and was visible and other times I wasn't. I really have no idea what triggers it. I just know that supped up camo is perfect for a guy like me who plays at a snails pace. I was able to sneak right up to people. At one point I literally waked up behind someone sat there for 2 minutes before knifing him. What's the counter for the camo the jammer?

Yes, the jammer, or the EMP grenade.

I'm no fan of the UAV on maps of this small size, either. UAV's would make more sense in big maps like the old Ghost Recon or OFP: Red River, giving a sense of the enemy's location and possible future movement.

But pinpoint spotting in hall closet maps, with the ability to drop munitions? Dislike.

Oh, I don't like the munitions UAV at all. The regular UAV, though...(as if you people didn't already know it!)...I like it very much. There ARE remedies for it, such as the portable turrets, and emp grenades, as well as just looking for it and, y'know...shooting it. Same with the munitions UAV, but often, by the time you figure out where you're getting shot from, it's too late to do much about it but assume room temperature... :D

Now, that being said, I'm all for gentleman's rules any time you fellers want to abscond with the UAV's. We can set up nights with that as a rule, and I'm fine by it. There ARE other ways...

Teal and I got absolutely owned by randoms all night last night. We played for a couple hours and had 2 decent games. The rest was just one shellacking after another. Conflict games ending with our team beat 300+ to 15, racking up 1:3 k/d ratios and just generally serving as a punching bag for team after team.

Very frustrating. I have had nothing like Spooky's great success with randoms, but prior to last night it had at least been fun. I'll get back on the horse and hope it was just an isolated bad night, but I'm getting concerned. I see more and more high-end equipment from players who are already better than I.

Teal swore off public rooms about 3x, I think. LOL

I was in a room with one guy who was bragging about playing for 24 hours straight, sleeping for 5 and then playing another 24...and it sounded legit. 8O

Like I told you last night, I think I might be getting too old for this s***. I just have neither the desire nor the inclination to keep up with those caffiene-addled youngsters...not to mention I don't have the ability. I'd MUUUUUUUUCH rather play private matches with people I know aren't playing it for 24 hours straight, or glitching (one dude was DEFINITELY doing that last night, wasn't he?), or being a spawn camping asshole.

These people create games that they intend to be played a certain way. The main problem is that the tiniest crack, some people will exploit into the ground. Case in point: We played more than one game of Saboteur last night, in which the other team simply surrounded the package, and killed anyone who got close to it. They had zero interest in the package itself, because they knew that they could win simply by being dicks, through a war of attrition. I'd close that door. I'd make it so if you didn't at least try to do what the mode is telling you to do, you WILL NOT WIN. Period. Nobody gets the bomb? Fine. It's a draw. Let's do it again. You won't level up, you won't get XP, until your team scores the bomb.

I want to play the game the way it was meant to be played, but some douchebags just want to degenerate everything down into COD bullshit, running around like idiots and opting for personal scores, rather than the team element. There are certainly some ways to 'force' the teamwork aspect, but they had to allow for contingency, and that contingency has morphed into the way too many morons choose to play the game. Idiotic.

It's as if they are incapable of processing a thought more than 'shoot, shoot, shoot, camp, camp, camp, annoy, annoy, annoy, personal stats, personal stats, personal stats. Every day I try to play a shooter different than CoD is another day I grow to HATE CoD. Because now the kiddies think EVERY shooting game IS CoD. So f*** 'em. I'll give it a go every now and then, but those morons can kiss my ass. I'll stick with private matches and co-op. I just don't need that s***.

The issue as much as it pains me to say is every shooter is trying to be the next COD. Think of GRAW or GRAW 2 the kiddie crowd wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. I am one of this series biggest fans but even I find the multiplayer a little too much like COD then those older games.

I'm fine with level unlocks and giving people lots of good stuff. I know it is what keeps people playing but then give control to the room ops. If I could set a game an limit what weapons and extra gear are able to be used you would keep half these douchebags away from your session.

Probably. I absolutely adore the game's core gameplay, and what it is trying to accomplish. It's just the same idiots who ruin every online experience. Had one last night, in a game that, ironically, was going pretty well. My team was acting like a team, even though we weren't talking. But I got shot, and decided to respawn on one dude. That's when I found out one of the secrets to our success. Dingbat was UNDER the map, firing up at the unknowing enemy at will. I couldn't move, but he was a sniper, so he was able to zoom in to pretty much anywhere. I just quit out of the session. I don't enjoy that type of ill-gained advantage anywhere, anytime. It's just stupid. Makes zero sense.

Can't wait to do another closed session with you fellas soon. The brilliance of the private rooms is that everything is unlocked, so that there are no 'advantages' to speak of. Yes, the UAV's can be aggravating if they are being used well, but everyone has access to them, and to the countermeasures to defeat them. Kind of wish they would stop the practice of leveling, at least in online shooters. New guns? Sure. But all the gadgetry, I think, should be open from the start. In this game, there's such a plethora of options for scopes, grips, stocks, gas systems, side rail add-ons, that it would almost be the same trying to discover it all just to have it all on the table from the get-go.

It's been almost 2 weeks since I've jumped into public matches so the game must be starting to reach out to the wrong demographic. I still stand by my experiences over the first few weeks and they were 80% great. The other thing is that when the servers and matchmaking modes are working well...you can take 4-6 people with you in a party and all be on the same team in public rooms. Even if you get beat, it's more fun when 4-6 people are communicating and playing together.

I'm pretty sure that the great groups I randomly hooked up with were not winning a ton, but we had a blast communicating and feeling like we were playing together and trying.

And I think that overall - the demise of these types of games in a public setting is the goddam ranking and weapon unlocking system. But unfortunately it's what sells. Ugh.

I'm unlikely. Have chores, and I want to watch Game 2 of the NBA Finals. I'll look for you cats late night.

There's always a better chance for play balance when I don't show up, as the distance to the bottom shortens drastically. :)

I'll be there at that time. If there's just a few early birds, we can play some public matches until we have enough 6 or more.
