I hate it too, but I LOVE this game. I know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the gameplay is just too fun..
I'm the exact same. I couldn't care less about the NBA but played last year's game from October until The Show came out in February/March. Just a great sports game all around, IMO.

Yes, it sure is. You HAVE to optimize the PS3 version to play in 1080p. Otherwise, it looks rather jaggy and poor in 720p.

The things that pop out at me right away is the player movement. They seem to be lighter on their feet than in years past. Much easier to control them. They don't get caught in those long drawn out animations. The CPU played very smartly, making the extra pass and finding the open man. The player models look great and there's an even bigger distinction between the sizes of the players this year, or so it seems. I'm not all to familiar with signature shots, but everyone seems to have their own. Atmosphere sounds great although there is no broadcast. The game plays well, but I have to give it some more time to address all the differences between this demo and 2K10.

Or you go get NCAA Hoops 2k8 and enjoy the hell out of it. They update the rosters each year and it's still a pretty damn good game.
I still have it and honestly I enjoyed EA's game last year except it freeezes all the time so it is unplayable and they never patched it.
I really liked EA's college game last year but the freezes ruined it for me and I got rid of it. If the NBA games had a create an expansion team in their franchise mode I'd end up buying it but I just never got into pro basketball with there not being a pro team in Pittsburgh.

Played a few rounds with the demo and I'm impressed. Really didn't like last years because, though it looked great, I felt I was playing the game instead of playing basketball. Too many situational animations that made it look good but handle stiffly. The handle is much better this year. I think the shorter animations make the control seem more about what you do instead of what you trigger. Still some really awkward bits when you lead a player to the hoop off a pick - I hit Bynum a foot past the foul line and he ended up with a little bunny-hop side step and an odd, one-handed flip off the glass because the momentum would have had him out of bounds on the second step; all I did was hit pass and then shoot.

I went in with low expectations but will keep hammering the demo. I can see the potential for a longer spell of enjoyment than a hoops game has given me in five or six years.

OK -- thanks for the tip. I was slightly underwhelmed with the graphics when I first fired it up.

And to be honest, I was kind of underwhelmed with everything the first go-round, but I realized that was more due to the stripped-down manner the demo is presented than the actual game itself.

So, after a few more playthroughs, I'm impressed and really excited for the release. Some of the problems that made me feel burned out on the series last year (too easy to score in the post, too many PiP, too many AI laser passes to players cutting to hoop, not enough spacing) have been addressed here.

In a nutshell, everything felt believable and like real basketball.

Wow...that was boring. I played a few games last night and couldn't be more underwhelmed. Oh well...I'll still buy it because it's the new version. There was very little that stood out to me as marked improvements, but maybe that's because I played like 200 games of 2k10. Hopefully we see a NBA Elite demo shortly...though my hopes are very reserved when it comes to EA hoops games.

Wow. I took a 2 year break from 2k and have played live instead. This demo has given me more enjoyment than those two games combined. It just felt like basketball. I had pretty much written off bball games bit now I may just pick this one up.

Maybe it's good I took last year off from 2K. Game felt fresh and really seemed to address a lot of the issues of the series that were getting tiring for me. Like others have said, the game feels very balanced now.

There are videos at OS that compare the playcalling & how the teams run their sets and it looks miles better than last year. Too bad you can''t really tinker with that in the demo.

Unreal... wow.. why don't they put all of this into their hockey game?

Seriously.. I might have to pick this one up and I'm not an NBA fan either.

Very impressive. I finally played the demo last night, and loved pretty much everything about it. Day 1 purchase for me, no doubt.

I hope they enhance MLB 2K11 with the presentation used in NBA 2k11.

I don't think I've ever bought an NBA game.. well unless you count Dr. J vs Larry Bird.. :)

Played the demo and I'm really liking it. I'm assuming 2k is the NBA everyone on here gets? I know it's about 10% of what the full game will be, but everything to the graphics, overlays, and gameplay seems like it's quite a fun game to play?

I was a Celtic fan back in the day, so I'm guessing I would be using them in franchise mode, although who knows...

I agree, boring... though maybe because it's a demo with no commentary contributes to that. I was disappointed that you can't use the fake pass while moving. Limiting it to slowly pumping an obvious fake with your feet planted seems like a waste of a button. I will say that the graphics are pretty good, and that one thing that jumped out on me was that all of the faces look really good, not just the star players like in the past.

Tried the demo and it's OK. I don't see what has changed? Maybe someone can let me know.
The players look more "pasted on" then before. The edges seem very defined and it makes the
players look a little 2D like to me. In some ways, the graphics look better than least year, but
it some ways they don't. The game also seems slower and more deliberate than before, but
hopefully a slider can fix that.

All in all, it looks and plays exactly like NBA2K10 to me with new rosters. 2K has created a solid
playing game and has done very little to improved each year's release IMO, but I am assuming
this will be DSP's hoops game of choice based on all the negativity surrounding the NBA Elite demo.

Have you not been reading the developer insights or whatever they are called?

They have done a TON of things to this game for 2k11.

I think this game looks freakin' amazing. I love the change they made to the camera in broadcast view for shots made from 3 point land. It's a subtle change that I might not have noticed, had I not read about it in one of those developer blogs, but it looks identical to TV. Great stuff.

I was thinking of rebuying Live 10 because I found it fun last year but 2K11 looks to be a top notch Hoops game again this year. Add the dynamic commentary and I decided to go the 2K route. I just can't decide if I want to go the console or PC route. I wish I had jumped on the $19.99 with a $10 future videogame credit from Amazon. :(

No I have not. I was just going by my impressions playing the demo. There was nothing
major that stood out to me other than the graphics look sharper but have that "pasted on"
look, due to the edges. The gameplay felt very similar to past 2K games. I am glad to hear
they have changed a ton of things, because it appears as though Elite won't be out for a while,
so 2K may be the only choice to start the season.

The one thing I hoped they fixed was the "isomotion" post controls. I always found them clunky
and hard to master.

They need to call their NHL 2k team. :)

Great looking, playing, immersive, etc.. game!
