Yeah, I can't wait until they completely iron out the server issues, so that I can at least go into a match with 3 people I know and be able to communicate. I haven't heard one person talk the entire time I've been able to play...

Funny you should mention that. Last night I finally got to play a couple of games and I was stuck on a team with some guy who kept talking and whining. All things he said: "C'mon guys, they're taking the Radio Tower!" "I need assistance at the Radio Tower!" "Can anyone hear me?" "I know you can hear me because I hear my echo!" "Am I the only one who knows how to capture a base?" "C'mon guys you can't just fight, you need to capture too!" "I'm the best one in this mother******!"Teal wrote:Yeah, I can't wait until they completely iron out the server issues, so that I can at least go into a match with 3 people I know and be able to communicate. This is during a game that we were absolutely annihilating the other team and were very close to victory. It would have taken a miracle or my whole team putting down their controllers for the other team to win and this teenager was acting as if the Radio Tower was the lynch pin of our success.
I felt bad laughing and not responding but I couldn't help it. I just can't take defending the radio tower that seriously.
As far as the game is concerned I can't believe this is an arcade game. I thought the graphics would be on par with the original Battlefield 1942 which has got to be showing it's age by now but this game is gorgeous for an arcade title. The gameplay was fantastic too. Hopefully the DLC won't be too pricey because this title will definitely get a lot of DLC.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

I had a blast last night playing with Zep, teal and Rob V.
It seemed we won every match.
There is so many things I love about BF 1943.
Taking a tank, winning a flag point and defending the point is insanely fun.
Jumping on an AA gun and shooting down enemy planes makes me giddy
Getting on the back of a jeep and manning the gun while we speed to an enemy flag point, jumping off, and trying to capture it
Dog-fighting and flying low in a plane while trying to precisely drop a bomb
There is just so much depth.
I have spent 6.5 hours so far and I think that is more hours then any game I have spent online combined in 09.

It is a lot of fun. I loved Bad Company, so the mechanics are fine with me. It's a bit silly at times, but as I told Zep and Teal last night, it's like playing an Audie Murphy flick.pigpen81 wrote:I had a blast last night playing with Zep, teal and Rob V.

I'm beginning to think I just didn't get it when I was indifferent about Battlefield 1942 on PC several years ago. I just wanted it to be a shooter with vehicles, which is incorrect.
As pigpen was saying, the beauty is how many things there are to do on a battlefield. Fly a plane, drive a tank, man permanent guns, trooper assault and defense, or snipe people from clean across the map. Every round is so different, and this game is really monopolizing my 360 time.

I've never been big on FPS, but this is the most fun I've had in multiplayer since the WWII mod for Myth II.
I actually prefer that hardly anyone uses voice - being plunked down in a random team is strangely compelling as you try to sort out your role on the team without a bunch of wankers shouting expletives in the background.
I definitely suck at this sort of thing, but found I can pick up a few kills just by laying in wait in the more remote areas of the maps.
Safe to say it's the best $15 I've spent on a game.

Gotta agree with you. I hardly ever hook my headset up and I see no reason to in this game either. Free stylin' is the way to go. Sometimes you're on your own, sometimes you hop in a jeep or tank with someone else with the same idea in mind. Either way the game is so entertaining to play and I'm usually laughing like crazy most of the time. Kudos to Dice for turning friendly fire off which eliminates the team fighting for planes and tanks. This is definitely one of my favorite games this year.Blublub wrote:I've never been big on FPS, but this is the most fun I've had in multiplayer since the WWII mod for Myth II.

I tried it for a bit yesterday too and was pretty impressed. I'm pretty terrible at it though, as even when I'm well positioned and think I'm zero-ed in my shots aren't connecting. Are you guys leading the enemy planes with your shots by quite a bit?Teal wrote:Wow, I like Air Superiority. That's a fun mode, and feels more like dogfighting to me than any flying game I've played.
Yeah, I couldn't score a kill to save my life at first. Can't rack 'em up now, but leading them did the trick. Honestly, chasing some guy (or being chased) and dipping, dodging...man, it's fun even if I don't get 'em...Naples39 wrote:I tried it for a bit yesterday too and was pretty impressed. I cannot stand the COD games so I never thought to give this game a shot....what a mistake. I'm having a blast with it. With the wide open islands and great layouts, it feels so much more like an actual battlefield than other games of this type.
I'll look to add any DSP Battlefield players to my friends list if you guys are still playing. I'll be on this one for a while.

I am pretty much playing nightly (10:00 PST) and am still having a blast.
My best map personally is Wake Island as I rack up the points on the village point between securing flags and shooting down planes/bombing squads with the AA Guns
My point high is 393...which almost got me 1st place
...on only 8 kills.
Only 3 classes and a ton of depth for each.
My GT is pigpen81

I snagged the game last night (finally). I played a quick match for a bit before I had to go out and had fun. The game definitely brought back memories of BF 1943 on the PC. I really need to learn the maps. Am I right in saying there is no communication in this game unless you are in a chat? Look for me online if you guys need a marginal player

I had my euruka moment for plane dogfighting yesterday, when I was pursuing an enemy who had dived near ocean level. I noticed all my shots were hitting the water behind the enemy, meaning I wasn't leading the target enough. Now that I know the proper leading range, I went from 2-3 kills a round to 15 the next (I do have to admit though, 3 were by head-on collision
). Also used yaw a lot more rather than constantly rolling the plane.
Btw, anyone know how to lay anti-tank mines in this game? I haven't figured it out.
