Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually starting to believe that they're going to deliver a playable game next year. There's no way they can spend THAT much time on OS and give us a game next year that doesn't have plenty of playable camera angles, a true QB pocket, realistic OL/DL interaction, etc., unless they have absolutely NO talent working at Tiburon. Five years into next gen, and I think I'm going to at least be semi-happy with the football game. Better late than never I suppose.
Let us know cause i'm tired of wasting my money on that series.GTHobbes wrote:Never thought I'd say this, but I'm actually starting to believe that they're going to deliver a playable game next year. I'm more interested in Head Coach 2010.

One thing that puzzles me about Madden 09 (360) is that no matter how you set the sliders manually the games plays the same even if you change the difficulty to All Madden, it doesn't matter.
I finally broke down and took the stupid Madden test and now the game has become harder to play. Did Tiburon intentionally disable the game sliders as well as the in game difficulty settings?

Zeppo pretty much nailed the problem with Madden -- it misses a lot of the fundamentals of the NFL. It's especially frustrating because the XBox version had made a lot of progress before the next gen abortions of 06-08 hit us.
Having said that, they did make a lot of progress with 09. There are so many issues with Madden that there's no way they could fix everything in one season, but this game was substantially better than the other next gen versions. If the 2010 game makes the same kind of progress this year's game made, then I think GTH may be right -- it could be a pretty good game.
I doubt we'll see Head Coach 2010. That game appears to have tanked in terms of sales, and I think EA's going to pull a lot of its features into Madden's franchise. That's why I'm going to hang onto HC 09.

This was mentioned somewhere in another thread but here is some bad news for Madden and other Tiburon Games (TW, Nascar, NCAA)

EA Restructuring Hits Mythic, Tiburon
In addition, Gamasutra sources have indicated that multiple staffers have been let go at EA Tiburon, home of the Madden football game series and a number of other EA Sports titles, as well as other titles for separate EA divisions.

Should be interesting to see how this has impacted Tiburon as I am scheduled to visit them for an early look at TW10 in mid-February. The office complex they have there should be a bit lighter in head count....hate to see them let go QA folks as that is one area EA is weak in...then again, if the QA work they did was the best they could do, then they deserve to be let go....bdoughty wrote:In addition, Gamasutra sources have indicated that multiple staffers have been let go at EA Tiburon, home of the Madden football game series and a number of other EA Sports titles, as well as other titles for separate EA divisions.

Sounds like us sports game-playing men may be getting kicked to the curb, on the PS3 and 360 at least:
"Game publisher Electronic Arts (ERTS), perhaps best known for its Madden NFL franchise and appeals to "hardcore" gamers, is doing an about face in its marketing: For 2009, the company will be increasingly looking to women and the Wii as its target audience.
The plan: More women-friendly titles like a rival to the bestselling Wii Fit, advertising on women-geared TV outlets like the Oxygen Channel, and endorsements from Oprah Winfrey's personal trainer."
