Sorry, mix...misrepresented ya. Oh, well.

Fun night tonight, although I think I hate that one bomb thing. Too hectic. I like, of course, team deathmatch, and the attack and defend modes. Domination is kinda 'eh' to me as well, but I can play it.

I'm taking off that damn target before we play again, though. The one that says, 'Shoot me Mix...shoot me now."
I kinda liked the one-bomb mode, but I'm a pretty impatient player. Domination was 'eh' to me as well.

Oh, and one other thing--Teal! Why are you using the shotgun?! That is stupid!

Heh, that guy was a dweeb. Teal seemed to shut him up with his response, though, unless I simply mentally tuned him out after that.

I think domination is probably my least favorite of the modes, but I do enjoy them all. I thought that one bomb round we had was pretty epic! I did a 180 degree turn on HQ mode, though. I hated it when we played it two nights ago, but I think that was probably because I didn't 'get it' into well into the match. Last night I really enjoyed it, especially on that map with all of the warehouses...pipeline? When the HQ switches, it's fun to sometimes take a step back and pick off all the people blindly rushing to the new target. :)

Great fun.

I like all the modes. None of them rubs me the wrong way yet. I think my favorite rounds were the best-of-two single bomb one and the domination one with the three zones. Even regular old deathmatch is sort of fun for me, but I do greatly prefer the objective modes to that.

I pretty much suck at the game, though, so I'm not sure how long it will be until I just don't want to keep getting killed over and over anymore. Maybe if I get a little more knowledgeable about the maps it will get better, but I sense it's more of a purely mechanical thing with me. I just can't shoot anything. Outside of the single bomb mode, every mode has a real meat-grinder, *die - respawn - die* feel to me, and I'm pretty sure that will get old for me pretty quickly.

Technically, the game is impressing me more and more. At first, I didn't find the lighting or the details or the sound all that great, but last night I started to notice more and more about the look and sound, and it's a pretty amazing game. There is a ton of detail in the maps, and the particle effects and such are really cool. That it runs so smoothly is even more incredible.

I think having the red dot sight is a real advantage. I also don't understand some things, I put almost a full clip into someone last night and all I saw were white corsses appearing next to him and he turned around an one shot killed me. This actually happened a few times, it started reminding me of Halo. WTF are those white crosses?

I'm also at a disadvantage in this game as my eye sight isn't that great and I have a hard time identifying enemy targets with no FoF id's. I as always wish there was co-op (someone told me they might DLC this in later on) and I find myself dying a whole lot more.

However there are a lot of rewarding moments for sticking it out, last night in the one bomb when teal go killed right after he planted it, I was in perfect cover postion in a building and was able to hold off the other team from defussing it, that was awesome for me anyway.

As someone wise said last night "Even a blind squirell finds an acron once in a while" LOL

The red dot makes it a whole new ballgame to me. My death:kill ratios have flipped since I got it.

That said, it is still a meat grinder. Even against randoms with ridiculous game and high rank, there are huge numbers of deaths. I've seen guys rack up 30 kills, but even the good ones often have 15 or 20 deaths. That's clearly the way that the game is designed.

On the bright side, I just realized today that you can switch classes mid-game. So all that respawning is good for something. :)

As for modes, domination is my favorite along with the bomb mode. The pure slayer games arefar behind IMO. Not only is it fun to have an objective, but the ebb and flow which results creates an entertaining context for all the respawning LOL

What game type did we play first last night? I liked the game mode but it sounded like someone was relieved that it was over. I had to bail quickly so I couldn't tell who it was or why they didn't like it.

And sorry about bailing so soon. I told Zep and Web that I couldn't play long at all when I joined the room.

I think that was Teal, who was mainly expressing relief at the fact that once the game was over Mix couldn't kill him anymore. I think the game mode was 'sabotage,' which is the one-bomb game which I really liked but Teal wasn't crazy about.

No, I think the mode was the assault one, is it called? The one with the command post that either team can get and then has to defend, and once it's been 'destroyed,' or recaptured by the other team, there's a new command point elsewhere on the map and away we go again. I don't know why, but for whatever reason Teal really seems to hate that mode with a passion, and was not shy about expressing his disdain for it (is he ever?). That was the one that brought out the 'Thank God,' when it was over. I don't think he really likes the one-bomb mode, either, but that game where we first played to a score of 1, and then I restarted it with a best-of-three format, was the one where he was getting repeatedly killed by Mix.

Me? I like all the objective modes more than I do deathmatch, but that said, I like the deathmatch in CoD a little better than the one in Halo, even though I have started to thaw even towards that the last few times we played.

Oh, so Teal was complaining twice? Man, and he *likes* this game! :D

Is that one search and destroy?

I think you're right Zeppo, it was the 'headquarters' mode.

In all honesty, I think it was my performance, not the modes. That one map of sabotage where the damn bomb is on the crest of that hill at the start...THAT was a meatgrinder, and I didn't care for the placement of the bomb for s***.

I like the attack and defend mode alot more, as it's not so run and gun, but yes, I was the one who uttered 'Thank God' at the end of the match, and both observations are right: I didn't like how that game 'felt', and I got tired of walking into Mix's damn bullets...

I am looking forward to some hardcore mode when it opens up, as the 'one shot, one kill' dynamic is something I really love. It slows the game pace way down, and separates the Halo'ers from the tacticals. I'll sit in one place all match long, looking down the sight of a sniper rifle, just to get that critical shot, and I'll love every minute of it. Runnin' and gunnin' is fine, but not all the time...

Zep is right, Headquarters was the mode I was talking about. I liked it because it kept shifting the focus of the map and battle.

I will be on tonight and would love to play more.

It was a blast playing with everyone last night but just like Teal and Zep I'm having a tough time getting used to the way the game moves. After going from Halo to TF2 and now COD4 in the last 1 1/2 month its taking a bit of time to get my aiming down (its sooo unforgiving). Especially in a game like COD4 where split seconds seem to matter a lot more in a fire fight. In both Halo and TF2 it's pretty difficult to kill someone at a distance quickly unless you're rocking the sniper rifle but last night I was routinely getting shot dead with assault rifles from across the map. A bit of invincibility when you first pop back in wouldn't hurt either.

Can't wait to get into a big game with everyone again. Especially seen as we all seem to be a little better matched up than the random games.

Oh and Teal you had me cracking up with your comments on that one mode you weren't a fan of.

"I hate this mode!"
