Wow, what a horrendous call...the Chargers were robbed of a TD. How did the linesmen miss that? If it would have cost the Chargers a victory...oh boy....we would have called it the "Turner Curse" I'm sure.

That being siad, the football gods gave it back to them on that punt/fuble.

Bears fans, there is no way in bloody hell you will ever win a super bowl with Grossman at QB. The sooner the Bears cut bait the better because that defense can flat out play.

If the Bears had even Baltimore's offense they would be huge favorites to take it all.

Grossman was poor, but it was the terrible RB's and the ridiculous bounce on the punt that did them in. I'd take Rex with Thomas Jones back over the current RB's with an improved QB.

It's that way a lot. Realize most people who live here aren't from here. Most are translpants who've moved from less desirable cities.

I knew that Phoenix and FLA had that rep, but never noticed it in SD. Good crowd all around, great atmosphere.

It's even more evident when the Jets, Chiefs or Broncos play here. We have a gazillion transplants from those cities.

Game one only, but Seahawks looked tough on D and did enough with their offense to take Garcia out of town. Literally. That huge hit on him practically knocked the whole TP team out of play and S. Alexander was his usual self despite not playing during the pre-season.

The youngest team in the NFL made B. Favre look that young at least today, he had a great game and what a nice win for GBP. Maybe Eagles should get a new punt returner.

Bears offense wasted an incredible performance by their defense. 25 yd on 17 carries for LT...you wont see that very often...amazing.

Grossman needs to sneak some stick umto his hands...His ball handling is freaky bad.
Thomas Jones should still be a Bear.

As for The Rams....Carolina better be damn good or its going to be a very long year. On the bright side....only 52 more weeks til opening day. I just bought a paper bag from ebay.

Bills lead 14-12 with less than three minutes left. They're approaching midfield, with the chance to salt out the clock for the win. Third-and-5.

And the playcall is a long bomb? I'm still scratching my head on that one.

Hope the Bills' backup TE Everett is OK. That was a nasty-looking hit, especially when he just dropped to the turf like a chopped tree.

Take care,
PK

Great atmosphere at the FedEx today. The crowd is slowly getting back to what it was like in the old days at RFK. It was just like last year's opener, but this time we were on the lucky side of the stick and got the OT win (thank you coin toss gods). Campbell looked pretty good. It's not fair to judge him until after his 10th start, and this was start #8, but he seemed to show a calm demeanor and wasn't phased by his bad plays.

Brandon Lloyd needs to be cut, now. I don't think you could see it on TV, but hat INT in the endzone at the start of the 4th quarter was entirely due to Lloyd giving up on his route (a fly route) 15yds into it. He clearly pulled down on the throttle within 15yds and started lolly-gagging, and meanwhile the safety on that side slid to the middle leaving Lloyd all alone against his corner. Well, Campbell throws that ball to the one on one coverage, and while it could have been a better ball, if Lloyd had run that route all-out all the way through, he would easily have had better position on the corner and had a much better shot at coming down with the ball or at least getting a PI call. That guy (Lloyd) is a waste of space, is no good, and I want him gone NOW (I've been saying the same since a stupid, take-off-the-helmet 15yd penalty last season; this just seals it). It was interesting that for the most part, when #85 (Lloyd) was on the field, they ran the ball, when they had a pass play good ol' #83, Thrash, was the 3rd receiver.

Meanwhile, thank goodness for Randle-El, because Moss was dropping balls left and right. I don't know how the game was that close with 400yds of offense for the 'skins to just about 280 for the 'fins. But we had a lot of chances left on the field. Thank you to the Dolphins who dropped balls on 3rd down, but the game should have been over but Smoot dropped that INT at the end of regulation.

Whatever. Last season it was just about the same game, but we lost it; this time we won it with a very nice drive in OT (all runs except for that pass to Cooley into the blitz on 3rd and 5, his only catch of the game, mostly because of his having to give the undrafted rookie help at RT after Jansen went down with the broken ankle). The Dolphins kept going to that dump-off to the HB in the middle which was wide open all day, but they only got 66yds rushing, so maybe we have a not-bad run D being put together. That London Fletcher is huge for us.

Next week is the Igles at Philly on Monday night, and they will be out for blood after their bad loss at GB. Good luck with that! Ugh. Who knows, they have to play the games, but good grief, we don't seem to do well in Philly since Norv left, and wow what the heck does that say!

Congrats Zep. Jason Campbell looks he's going to turn into something special. My Dolphins once again showed why they'll be playing for another top pick in next years draft.

Green looked old, Chambers looked average and Ronnie looked like he's not worthy of a top 3 pick. I was really pleased with Porter. He didn't play all preseason and he was right in on the action and made some solid plays. I still would not have given him the type of money and contract Miami paid but he is a veteran and he is one of the best at his position when healthy.

PK,

I was lucky enough to be at the game today and man was the end deflating (unless you're a Bronco's fan). I'm not super-knowledgeable about football but that Third and 5 call had me scratching my head too. Then again Buffalo's D didn't do much to help them out on that final drive.

Bills lost three defensive starters to injury today -- FS Simpson (broken ankle), CB Webster (broken forearm) and LB Wire (torn knee ligament) -- so you're not alone, 34.

Plus, the news isn't great about backup TE Everett. That dude needs our prayers:

It's the "normal" hits that seem mode players get seriously injured. It didn't look that violent other than he led with his head a bit.

Anyway, you can second guess the call all you want, but he was open against Champ Bailey it was just long. Good call but they didn't pull it off. Mike Shanahan does this often. Problem with this calls are if you don't pull it off you turn into a goat.

I'm just glad football is back. We have football, soccer has started and we are entering the baseball playoffs.

I don't think anyone questions the Pats will be in the Superbowl. They have a deadly team with Brady and Moss. So why do they have to resort to this.

Sources: Camera confiscated after claims of Pats spying on Jets

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3012989

NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team's sideline during Sunday's game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said.

The camera and its tape were placed in a sealed box and forwarded to the league office for investigation, the sources said.

"We don't have any comment," an NFL spokesman said Monday.

The Patriots' cameraman was suspected of aiming his camera at the Jets' defensive coaches who were sending signals to their unit on the field, the sources said. The league also is investigating some radio frequency issues that occurred during the game.

The league's competition committee could conduct a conference call about the incident, which violates NFL policy, and ultimately recommend a penalty that could cost the Patriots a future draft pick or picks if it verifies that the team was spying on the Jets.

"It's not their first time," a member of the committee, who did not wish to be identified, said.

In fact, Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan confirmed a similar incident that occurred when the Patriots played at Lambeau Field last Nov. 19. The same cameraman who was questioned by NFL security on Sunday was also the one whom the Packers removed from the sideline and escorted from the field during their 2006 game, according to Packers security official Doug Collins.

"From what I can remember, he had quite a fit when we took him out," Harlan said. "We had gotten word before the game that they [the Patriots] did this sort of thing, so we were looking for it."

I am a Pats fan and this cheating thing is just BS. They shouldn't have to resort to such measures to gain an advantage... lame.

Of course not.;) They have the best GM, Head Coach, QB and WR in the league. I'm a Dolphins fan but i've never rooted against the Pats. They have always come across as a classy team. It's a shame if true.

A coach that wears a hoodie shouldn't be mentioned as classy. Winning yes, classy no. I wish the NFL would require coaches to go back to suit and tie. :)

Because control freak Bill Belichick might be the most paranoid motherf*cker walking on this planet right now.

That's between Nike and the NFL. Although more coaches are going back to a suit and a tie. I also prefer that look as well.

Surgeon: Everett has life-threatening spinal-cord injury

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3012739

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills' Kevin Everett sustained a "catastrophic" and life-threatening spinal-cord injury and his chances of regaining a full range of body motion are very small, an orthopedic surgeon said Monday.

"A best-case scenario is full recovery, but not likely," Dr. Andrew Cappuccino said, one day after performing a four-hour operation on the player. "I believe there will be some permanent neurological paralysis. ... A full neurological recovery was bleak, dismal."

Cappuccino noted the 25-year-old reserve tight end did have touch sensation throughout his body and also showed signs of movement. But he cautioned that Everett's injury remained life-threatening, saying the player is still susceptible to blood clots, infection and breathing failure.

Everett is currently under forced sedation and breathing through a respirator as doctors wait for the swelling to lessen. Cappuccino said it will take up to three days to determine the severity of the injury and the recovery process.

It is funny that 49ers coach (forgot his name) had to ask the league permission to wear a suit. I was like, WTF.
