I hope to start a career this week. Seems strange that they would allow you to save at various points during the single Grand Prix event mode, but not in career mode. It is going to be hard for me to find time to do the evolution mode, qualify, and race in one sitting.

That will work.

I can do any night.

Right now, I'm so pissed off with the game. I can not complete a f'n race for one thing. I just can't stop taking out other cars.

I'm in my first season with Super Aguri, and my first race is at Monaco. That's a b*tch of a place to drive in this game. I finally got a fast car due to racing evolution but it seems I love to put it in the wall. I hate Monaco.

I can't get the Nouvelle Chicane right. Then at La Rascasse, I find I put my wing into the wall. If I get by that at the final turn at Anthony Noughes, I sometimes get too excited and spin out. That's if I don't cornhole the AI in one of the other turns.

Well of course suckiness will be tolerated in fact you can turn collisions off which is no big deal as i dont think even with collisions on you can run into the AI they just ghost and you go right thru them so figure it will be the same human v human with collisions off.

I was checking out online and it seems easy enough i will try and host if you like we need to pick a server probably copse (they are named after F1 corners) and search for a game and we can password it DSP rather than have to all exchange gamertags for now.

So it would go like this,
Accept online agreement, Log on to servers , select copse. then look for Jimmydeicide game, log on with password dsp.

Mine is- Jimmydeicide

Funny. I run a lot of 10% races, and I cannot tell you how many times I have made it to the last lap, only to crash because my tires are so worn. Why are they so worn you ask? Because I usually have to pit way earlier than expected due to running into another car in the opening laps and taking too much damage to my front wing or cone.

It is a fun game, but it is damn hard to move out front (from the back) unless I am agressive, which usually means I am driving too hard.

Just finished a 30% race at monaco. Finished 19th. Damn it was hard. You have to concentrate at every single turn or you will take your wing off.

I just did not have a good evolution session and it really took my car out of it. I had no speed my front tires had no grip. I did manage to have Massa run right into me while I was blue flagged. That was funny.

Damn it was a lot of fun. In my Super Aguri team, I just got promoted to driver 1. Which I don't understand since Sato finished ahead of me. But I don't have to test any more cars. That part of the game is a little funny.

For those of you that think the weekend without saves in career mode is too long. All you need to do is run racing evolution then write down the settings for the car. Next time up just skip through racing evolution right into the weekend.

This game is just plan fun.

I forgot about an online game since I was playing shadowrun all weekend. How about we do it this week? Maybe just a 10% race with no damage.

Jayzus, John, why are you torturing yourself out of the box with Monaco? Only the most challenging course in F1, with no margin for error!

Take care,
PK

Had no choice, I was a test driver and this was the first race Super Aguri put me in as the 2nd car.

Ya it's the hardest but I think it will make me a better driver. It took me about 75 practice laps (all just run exhibition mode) to get the hang of monaco. But I finished a race there!

Finishing a *lap* at Monaco with damage on is one of the toughest things I've ever tried to do in a video game. :D

The hardest thing about monaco for me me is the nouvelle chicane. I can never seem to get a good line through there. Once in a great while, I'll barely miss the wall right around the apex and I can get a lot of speed right after it. I only try to pull that off when I need to push things. Otherwise, if you miss...

Surprisingly, I also lose too much speed around the Casino. For some reason though, I'm really fast in section 1 and 3, I suck harder than PK at a bathhouse in section 2.

Picked this up and am floored. I never lasted more than an hour or two with an F1 title because I suck so badly. I can't stop playing this one. It sounds lame, but turning on the numerous aids is the only way I'm ever going to be competitive. Even with ALL the aids on I can't finish a race at Monaco with damage on. How anyone does this IRL is beyond me.

The stock advice for newbies to avoid F1 titles may not hold here - you can turn off aids as you become more comfortable but they're there when you need them. With all on, drunken monkeys could post the highest times on easier tracks like Bahrain. This is great, as my skill level is only a tiny notch above sober monkeys.

Best PS3 title I've tried other than The Show. Actually makes me want to check out a F1 race IRL, something I never thought possible.

Fellas, it's really pleasing to see a great F1 game finally come to a console. It's long overdue, as the last good F1 games were Formula 1 98 and Formula 1 Championship Edition (1997) by Psygnosis for the damn Playstation!

Take care,

This is the best part about the game - it is pretty easy to configure to your skill level. I play with all aids off (except for light stability/TC), and it is a blast. I normally crash out of races at 10% length, but when I do finish - it is a great joy - and if I score points, so much the better!

What could make the game better? 1080p support, multi-player split screen, more damage options (off, light, full), more save options in career mode, and deeper stat tracking (avg start and finish position would be nice and total time in pit area). It would also be nice if there was some way to look at final race results with lap times, fast segment times, etc (if it is in the game, I missed the option).

Fun game, but I still think $60 is a bit too much for casual racing fans, which is how I feel about Resistance - solid game, but not worth $60 since I am not a FPS fan.

If you guys are interested in a purchase check out Gamestop. I hardly ever buy anything there but I did pickup a used copy for $49.99 in pristine condition. Just ask to see the disc before buying.

I don't know if its because the PS3 isn't exactly selling like hotcakes, but you can get some great deals on Ebay too. I picked up a brand new, sealed F1 for $35 shipped 2 weeks ago. Before that I picked up Ridge Racer 7 for $24 shipped. PS3 games seem pretty cheap on Ebay which will help to offset that $600 buy in fee. :D

I did the same, picked up a used copy.

My two complaints about this game are...

No save options
It requires 100% focus.

This isn't a game where you can have a quick 30 min session before you go to bed. The amount of concentration to get a car around the track safely 20+ times is incredible.

However I play with all aids off except ABS and TC, which is on light. I 3rd to last at monaco and I have to take on Silverstone next. In a practice race I did, (Grand Prix weekend mode) I had the fastest car on the track with Super Aguri. I don't know if I just got lucking and dialed in the setting through racing evolution. Becuase in my career, my super aguri team and mechanincs just can't get this car fast.

Right now it's the best racing game I've seen. The AI are pretty good. Not excellent as I think they bump too much but this game has everything when you race. AI drivers taking out other drivers, mechanical failures, the AI racing you really smart and other times not so smart.

At monaco I was racing side by side with Massa early in the race. I don't know how he was back in the pack. In the first section around the 5 or 6 lap, I thought he was right behind me and I progress around the casino I see a caution flag and when I look back, he lost control and exited the race. He wasn't on my tail but this mistake was entire his fault. He just lost it going into a turn, not even trying to pass or anything.

JRod, minor correction - if you said this I am on drugs (pain killers) so I may have missed it. No save options in career mode. If you play quick races, this is not an issue. Also, in individual Grand Prix mode, you get to save between practice, qualify, and start of the race.

100% focus is required, with is the reason I spend a lot of time with 10% quick races. LOL

Ya I meant career mode. You can save any time even during the race in quick race and season mode.

My favorite F1 games are Grand Prix 4 now that there are season mods like 1991, 1995, 2000-2007, Lewis Hamilton is even in the 2007 mod for GP4. :D The freaking game still has the best racing AI I have ever seen in any racing game.

The other is rFactor with the 2005 mod and the upcoming 2006 season mod. F1:CE is a good title for a console racer but when you compare it to GP4 or rFactor it takes a back seat to those two.
