Anybody catch Prince's "press conference" during Super Bowl week? It rocked even harder than last night's great performance:

Crazy! Exact same number for me, and I was at that show as well. Back when cd's were cd's, I had upwards of 30+ boots.Danimal wrote:I've seen Prince in concert 9 times, the last a year or so ago at All State. No one puts on a better live show that I have ever seen.

I never knew that. Looked up the lyrics:dbdynsty25 wrote:See as how Little Red Corvette speaks about used condoms and whatnot, I doubt the FCC was on board with that one.

Just goes to show, I was hearing the song but not listening to it.

He was definitley playing AND singing live. The mic is wireless and the guitar is wireless. The only danger is where things are actually phusically plugged in and that area was probably under cover. The Goo Goo Dolls have a live DVD out, where they played over half the show in a torrential downpour. I have never seen any live performance in a worse rain before.

Yeah, the metacritic score is in K-Fed territory (28):DChaps wrote:Heh, based on what I saw not for long.sfz_T-car wrote:David Spade has a new show? Who knew?

This comment from the NY Post reviewer is just eviscerating:
Everyone involved in creating this show should be forced to immediately seek other forms of employment. This business is not - repeat, not - for you.

The big question: When is this dweeb going to run out of offers? You can only hang on Chris Farley's dead coattails for so long.DChaps wrote:Heh, based on what I saw not for long.sfz_T-car wrote:David Spade has a new show? Who knew?
Spade is the most consistently unfunny guy in Tinseltown, in Rob Schneider, Andy Dick and Pauly Shore's class.

My friends and I call Spade "the remora" for his ability to survive on Farley's fat, bloated carcass (he was a carcass long before he died).pk500 wrote:The big question: When is this dweeb going to run out of offers? You can only hang on Chris Farley's dead coattails for so long.

To keep the aquatic similes going, I guess if you have to think of Rob Schneider you can consider him one of those shrimp that clean the gills of bigger fish. His "success" is due to his willingness to be Adam Sandlers personal b*tch. Such a sad little yes man.
I try not to think of Andy Dick, particularly post bi-sexual whoring revelations. Is he really rich and/or famous enough that people of both sexes desire him? And what did he do with/to Phil Hartman's body?
Pauly Shore is harmless, if as talentless as the rest of these hacks. At least he hasn't done it by orbiting some other star like the other pieces of space junk you cited.
Oh, sweet hate. You keep me going.

You've got that right. My wife and I just caught a Prince show at 3121 in Vegas about 3 weeks ago. Un-freaking-real. The 3121 club at the Rio is just a small, circular room. We were no more than 15-20 feet away from him during the show. The sound was also incredible since the room was so small compared to an arena. I've seen Prince 4 other times, but that small, personal setting was an experience like no other.Danimal wrote:I've seen Prince in concert 9 times, the last a year or so ago at All State. Thanks PK for that Fury SNL link. I've been digging around for that.
What was the ticket situation? Any difficulty getting in?btmmayor wrote:You've got that right. My wife and I just caught a Prince show at 3121 in Vegas about 3 weeks ago. Un-freaking-real. I originally found out about the performance and ticket sales through 3121.com. I bought the tickets online through Ticketmaster about a week before the show. The night of the show, we hit the Rio about 9:00 and jumped in line for the club. They brought our tickets right to us as we waited. Real smooth, no problems at all. From what I heard the show sold out a day or two after I bought my tickets. He is there, for the most part, every Friday and Saturday night for the next couple of months. Its really an amazing experience as the opportunity to see an artist the caliber of Prince in a small, club setting doesn't come around all that often.RobVarak wrote:What was the ticket situation? Does anyone else think that part of the reason the ads suck is because if you do anything that stands out in any way, there are groups that will make a stink and cry foul because they're offended?

It's exactly what happens when agency types think their "creative vision" is more important than pushing the product itself, especially when their "vision" has no sense of the comic pulse of regular America.
Honestly, can you even remember half of the products that were pimped, let alone the ads, just a week after the Super Bowl?
That tells you how badly the ads sucked, because they weren't either creative, effective or funny.
Take care,
PK
