I don't think it is Madden in coach mode and here is why. While you will be able to call the plays, you also will be able to do other things on the sideline and the game will go on without you.

Feel the need to talk to your secondary when your offense is on the field and try to correct things, go right ahead. But the game will go on and your QB / OC will be running the show. At least this is what I've read.

Again I have no idea if this game will be good, I just know to me the concept is good. If it fills the role I think it will I will probably not even buy Madden.

Exactly the reason I'm skeptical. I think they know it's going to take some of Madden's sales and maybe the reason the game frustrates the hell out of us looking foward to a good FPS type game.

Maybe it's a conspiracy, but I really want this game to succeed and I hope they do this game justice. The fact that's it's going to be available on the pc is a bonus.

Here's your conspiracy: I bet they cripple the coaching mode functions in Madden this year. Why would you need them, because you can just buy the Coach game right? :)

Mizzou:
You are smoking the EA pipe again. :) The game comes out TWO months before madden. By the time Madden is out, we'll have bought and played NFL Head Coach and NCAA.

I know I'll buy at the least 3 football games. Maybe 4, if madden 360 isn't as good as Madden xbox.

All I'm hoping from Head Coach is that the CPU changes its playbooks and plays. There's nothing like playing Mike Shanahan in 2010 and he has the same plays that he had in 2006. That will get old quickly. The other key for the game is speed of play. I games last longer than 45, it will get boring. There's no reason why a coach mode game should last longer than the "action" sports game. Some people can watch madden for an hr, I can't. Plus in these manager type games, its crucial to have the user advance seasons relatively quickly. One of the reasons Football Manager is so addictive is because you can advance through seasons in a short amount of time.

I'm trying to think positive. :)

I wouldn't care if the games were an hour, but an in-game save is almost a necessity.

Weird thing is, I'm not excited about NCAA 2007 or Madden 2007. In fact, I think I'll forgo a console college game and stick with BBCF this year. Of course if everyone here is loving the game, I'm sure I'll bite.

I'm also hoping Jim announces his new game will be FOF 2006/07 - if that's the case, I'll have my football game wish for this year.

If this game is any good, it'll be exactly what I'm looking for in a console sports game. No friggin sliders!!!!!!!!! :)

Now that EA has finally made this its own game, maybe they can start to take out some of the off-the-field junk from Madden, and get back to adding on-the-field things, like referees. Or gang tackling.

I have a feeling this game will have me loving, "what could have been" as some annoying issues will probably make me want to pull my hair out.

Just looking at the draft already makes me scratch my head... but who knows?

Ditto, especially since NFL 2K5 still satisfies my on-field football jones. I hope someone updates rosters for that game again this season. Maybe NickChew and his crew will come through again.

Take care,

Thanks , getting it now. One thing that bothered me from the last part of the diary I read today from IGN is the fact that the coach can slide protection and call hot routes. A coach should not be able to do this. However, a coach SHOULD be able to teach his QB how to do it.... thats prob in version 3.0

Danimal,

I am two. I'm running it on my old Dell and it was slow but you got to see the features.

I think this game is going to be fun. Sometimes games that you don't control the action are fun because of the "what if" factor. Take Champ Man, you control little in that game and its a blast.

I went to practice mode and it the options to tell players seem to be varied enough to not let it be pointless repitition. We'll see.

I'm worried about stats because it would suck in the sim stats are the real thing and you only get stats for 5 minute quarters. It would make the whole game pointless.

I'm more excited about this game than Madden. Even though its not BC.
