This is the EA way. Most of the issues will be adressed in Arena Football 2007. Why give you the whole game now?
Like Im constantly told EA is a business and the make great business moves. It is true. They are as succesful as you can possibly be.
The good news: There are about 30 historic teams that can be unlocked.
The bad news: Despite statements made by EA prior to release that you could use these teams in a season.....you can't.
Where did you read this? That is total crap if they promised that. A lot of the options in season mode are very light if you ask me, I think they could have done a lot more with it.
Deaspite that I'm really enjoying this game, had a nice game last night, the other team tied it at 56 with 6 seconds left. I got the kick was tackled with 2 seconds left called a time out and hit an almost full length of the field FG to win it, which is no easy task in this game.

One of the producers said this would be possible in a interview over at OS. It was also apparently stated on EAs own site at one time, althougth I'm sure it's been removed now.
