I added you too, Crazy. You have lots of alias´s to keep track of!
I played Amped online last night, free ride, and loved it.

I agree, PK and DB, nice ´kick back and kick it´ mode, where you can just chill and explore the mountain. Even when you play the competitive modes, something really calming about the mountains.

´Course, I do it in real life and feel the same way, but maybe that´s just me.

As far as SSX vs Amped, it is not even close re: verisimilitude. Amped recreates honest to goodness real mountains very well, while PK´s SSX candyland description was right on. I like both titles, but I´d still send the casual gamer SSX´s way. Like many reviewers, a lot of players just don´t ´get´ Amped.

I heard comments online last night like: "Look at all the White. How hard is it to make everything white? Lame!"
It´s a f´in mountain full of snow, dipshit.
LOL! Priceless! Did you say that to the person who was complaining about all the white?

Unfortunately, I was playing with the headset off. I do that often because my voice, more than the sounds of any game (even gunshots and explosions.) tends to wake up my wife at night.

Amped lets you hear the other players through your speakers, so I had that on.

Same idiots were looking for the ´deathmatch´ mode as well.

Amped 2

These posts dovetail into my only fear about Amped on XBL, and it´s a minor concern: Snowboarding is very popular among the teen set, so there are bound to be a bunch of zit-faced teenyboppers playing the game, with their idiosyncrasies and insecurities out in the open.

DB and I discovered that two nights ago when playing together. Some kid joined us and immediately asked our rankings. DB said, "I don´t know." I said: "s***. That´s my rating. s***."

This kid, obviously a testosterone-filled teen puke, proceeded to tell us with pride that he was in the top 80 in the world or something and was going to form a clan with his buddies to be the best in the world. DB responded with a classic DBism, "So, you´re better than everyone, huh?"

Of course, the punk never saw the sarcasm and said, "Uh, yup."

Anyways, DB and I ignored the kid and continued to talk football while boarding. The kid wanted to know what we were talking about, and we ignored him. Better that than kick him from the room, I guess. Finally, the kid got the hint that we didn´t want to hear about his Amped 2 world conquest plans and shut up.

So, yeah, there will be punks on Amped 2. I guess I just have to board with people I know and hope to find some cool kids with whom to board. I did board with a really cool guy on the New Zealand glacier for a few minutes after boarding with DB. Amped 2 is so much fun that I´m willing to put up with some pukes. That´s why there´s the exit button - I can find another group if my current one is filled with the ROXXORS crowd.

For the record: Not all teens are pukes on XBL. I have played many games -- including the typical twitch-teen games like Unreal Championship -- with some very cool, with-it teens.

Take care,
PK

[ This message was edited by: pk500 on 31-10-2003 09:31 ]
I guess this is the new thing cause 3 out of every 5 tennis games I join the guy/kid asks what my rank or rating is ! I ignore them of course and usually do not have my headset plugged in anyway.

lol.....sounds just like my place Web. I rarely use my headset. Late at night the sounds of stockcars, golf club swings and various explosions don´t even phase my wife and kids. As soon as I try and talk on the headset though I hear the footsteps upstairs. The fact that my gameroom is directly below our bedroom doesn´t help with things either.

I just picked up Amped 2 this afternoon and can´t wait to dig into it later this evening. Once question about SSX 3. I did not enjoy the first one. It was very easy and seemed to have little depth. Is there anything in SSX 3 that would change my mind if I disliked the original?
Short answer...no. Pretty much the same thing, with a few new additions. They make you do a few more tricks but the core game has stayed the same.
