Livorno 3 - Ajax 2
A real cracker of a match that saw Ajax jump out to an early lead, capitalizing on an immediate turnover and crossing to Roger for the header right off the bat (1'). Livorno regrouped and got back into it via some unusual suspects, with Gaillombardo bringing it up the left wing in forgoing the pass to take it in himself with a somewhat off-target shot that fortunately got redirected on goal by the keeper (40'). Ajax kept threatening throughout, robbed on several occasions including another header by Roger which this time hit corner woodwork. Morrone was able to put his team on top in the second half, launching himself from out of nowhere to go practically horizontal on a corner kick and head it home (56'). Bakayoko was then the beneficiary of a sharp series of cross-field passes that left him with enough room on the left side of the box to get one past the keeper (72'). Ajax wasn't finished yet, as they once again were able to force key turnovers mid-field and sent one ahead for Huntelaar to bring his side within one (82'). Livorno then managed to hold on for the win.
A tight, clean match... no bookings, and no fouls!

It's unbelievable how common that is! I do enjoy the game, but I can't believe Konami shipped it with the fouling so FUBAR'ed...among other things.Slumberland wrote:

Wow, I didn't even notice there were not fouls. I guess we got enough whistles on those 5 goals.RobVarak wrote:It's unbelievable how common that is! I do enjoy the game, but I can't believe Konami shipped it with the fouling so FUBAR'ed...among other things.Slumberland wrote:

BTW, any D1ers available the rest of the day? I'll in for the day and should be available, so please PM me.

Well played, Naples.
I am completely embarassed at my play. I have not figured this game out yet, and my patience is long gone. I was inept in Season 1, inept in the World Cup, and I remain a disaster. Very frustrating.

C. Athletico Madrid - 0 Feyenoord Rotterdam 1
Rotterdam struck the post twice earlier in the game, but the third scoring chance was the charm when Charisteas made a nice move in the box to score the lone goal of the match in the 81st minute. The game was incredibly even with both sides registering 10 shots, 2 corners, and near dead even possession. There were no cards or injuries. Great game, nyisles!

Blub, I say we just roll with the second half and let you catch up. It's only 4 games. I can play tonight if you can play fairly early Eastern time. I can usually get on as early as 7PM Eastern. I stayed up way too late last night to start a game after 9:30, but I could play later some other night this week.

Season Nine Second Half Schedule Has Been Posted
Folks:
The second half schedule for Season Nine is up at the SGN site, and we are free to begin play with these games. The deadline for the completion of Season Nine is Sunday, April 29. Please do your best to play all your season games by then. Extensions will be liberally granted, but must be requested.
As to first-half extensions, consider them all granted, and I appreciate that you guys aer posting. It shows you are still interested and participating in the lgeague. The reason we split the schedule is to fairly distribute suspensions and injuries, but at this point everyone is free to play any game on the schedule st SGN, so if you have to play a double with one opponent, feel free.
XXXIV: was Ronaldo's injury a yellow cross, I assume? (I don't think I've seen a red cross injury online yet.) If so, no die roll is needed since the most games he would miss is one. If it was a red cross, I will do a roll and see if he must miss more games.
Finally, folks should give priority to Cup games if possible, since we have furhter rounds to get through and can't move on to the QFs until all games in the Round of Sixteen have been played. If these games aren't done by this weekend, coin tosses may be necessary to determine who moves on, so let's try to get them played soon.
Have fun, and play fair!

I'll be on later tonight., or if better, I will be around all day tomorrow for our games......Blublub wrote:Zepp, it's hard to ask for an extension with no games in the books, but any way I could get another week to get the first half matches in? If so, I'll be online tonight looking for D2 opponents.
I also would like to schedule my loss for the Cup... Naples, when is good for you?
Tonight should be good. The later the better too as its easier to wrangle the TV from the girlfriend. Let's tentatively schedule 11, but I'll try to catch you earlier if you're online and I have time.nyisles16 wrote:I'll be on later tonight., or if better, I will be around all day tomorrow for our games......Blublub wrote:Zepp, it's hard to ask for an extension with no games in the books, but any way I could get another week to get the first half matches in? I need to play the following people in regular season matches. Gimme a heads up when you are free.
Inter Milano
Everton x 2
AS Saint Etienne x 2
Levante
I'm over on the west coast and I'm usually free most week nights after 5-6pm. The best way to get in touch with me for a game are...
1) AIM = MacsomJRR
2) PM thru XBL, GT = MacsomJRR

Barca 3, Feyenoord 0
The newly-promoted D2 side looked anything but tonight as they gave Barca all they could handle at home. The final result is the result of a lot of Catalan luck. Feyenoord shut down the explosive Barca attack as effectively as anyone last season, but a cheap dribbling goal off a deflection for Eto'o put them on the scoresheet and they squeezed off a couple more before it was over.
Goals:
Eto'o 25, 45
Esquerro 46
Bookings:
Lucius (FEY)
Thuram (BAR)
No injuries
B - F
23(12) shots 5(3)
48 poss 52
Good game Leebo, I knew I was going to be in trouble for the second leg...
