I wanted to delve a bit further into this issue of lower scoring. I know I didn't particularly enjoy shooting -34 for 72 holes. It's too easy to hit fairways and greens with my three favorite controllers. I've got a couple of older XBox 360 controller I could use and have a hard time breaking par with, but that seems like a workaround.
I play with a standard XB1 controller, if switching a controller is that big of an advantage / disadvantage then there is something wrong with the swing mechanic. While the current swing modes are more enjoyable I think the older 3 click method was harder.
After using 4 different PS4 controllers, a stock XB1 controller, a stock XB360 for Windows controller and now a third party wired XB1 controller my swing results are finally consistently close to the center line in the cone. I'm also close to figuring out the tempo requirement for P/P, but I wish it included an acceleration element in the forward swing.
I've advocated for a calibration routine in golf games to even out the deadzone variations in the controllers like what were included in most of the old flight sims. I was told by the developer of JNPG that this is not possible due to the deadzones being hardware related. This same developer also said it was not possible to incorporate tempo in a controller swing due to the limited movement of the sticks.

So would I! Hell, this game can't even properly support a live stroke play match the way it's working right now... you'll think you're live and then realize your playing companion is actuall 1 to three holes ahead of you. You think you're playing a live, active player, but the game quietly puts them in ghost mode.
The masses have complained about it in the official forum, but are either ignored or deflected. I really think the current executive producer (Shaun West) has no interest in making any of that happen. He doesn't seem to be nearly as invested in the game as his successor, Anthony Kyne. This game is missing a huge draw not having a match creation utility and truly live multiplayer with Matchplay.
My favorite form of online live multiplayer game mode is definitely match play. You can blow up on a few holes and still have a chance of winning the match.
I really feel that losing AK was akin to removing the heart and soul of the TGC series.

I agree, but he was part of the team when these decisions were made......
I'm not sure how you guys find this game fun with the green physics on ridiculous holes like 12 and 14 at PGA West. I was putting for birdies on each hole and ended up with an 8 and a 7 purely because a 10 foot putt will roll 40 feet. I can tell you I've never, ever hit a 10 foot putt 30 feet past IRL and I play A LOT of golf.
I'm almost at the point of putting this game down for good.

Here's one for you. I chipped a slightly downhill shot towards the green, the ball hit the green and spun right back and landed past my feet. I nearly rage quit at that point. That's the second time I've seen that happen. Granted, I don't play golf but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that sh*t defies the "laws of physics".

I'm not enjoying PGA West for this very reason. It's a good looking course, but the firm/fast conditions, with so many questionable pin placements can turn it into the circus you describe. There are maybe a half dozen firm/fast courses that I truly find playable. I don't want to take any more chances with them, and henceforth, I won't set a tournament at a course with firm/and fast... even normal and fast is questionable.

It does and I don't understand why they can't fix it. They did address some of the physics issues from TGC 1, like the inability to get a 7 iron to hold a firm green with a properly struck shot, but this is clearly outside of Newtonian physics.

No, congrats to you for playing the last three rounds like a possessed man. It took me to the 72nd hole via an eagle to just edge by you. Yes, I was on fire on round one when I was -15 but maybe that score inspired you to play great golf for the remaining rounds as I was trailing you all along until the 72nd hole.
Let’s put it this way. On the last round I remember telling myself on hole #10 that it was practically impossible to catch up to you. At that point you had like a 4-5 strokes ahead of me.
But it was a thrilling challenge to the end playing your ghost, all decided in the very last hole of the tournament for me.
I don't play muni courses in real life, why would I want to play that s*** in TGC?
It was abysmal wasn't it? I had a friend recommend that course to me when I asked about some non firm/fast courses to play. That was at the top of his list. It had a fantasy look to it at times... way too much terracing to look natural. I pulled a quad on one hole hole, where I hit two approach shots long and right, into the water that was 15 yards behind and to the right of the green.
When I got to the green that had 3, maybe 4 terraces with the rail road ties I just quit because I was laughing so hard.
Again shame on TGC for wrapping green speed and firmness to course creation. This should be a set up option for a round / tournament. This just seems a lazy way to program this part of the game.

For the second week in a row, we didn't have a finisher in the PC Society. This course was pretty meh, but it also doesn't seem like it's really a tournament when only 1 to 3 people are playing. I've decided to fold the tent on the PC Society and dedicate my DSP Society efforts into playing the XBox One version, where we at least seem to average a half dozen, or more, a week. I see Tim's decided to go that direction and I think it would be healthier to have one, better-attended DSP Society, than fragment two or three players away every week for one that couldn't even muster a foursome.
BTW, it's good to read two more accounts of the XBox One version at least playing smoother on the X. Can any of you confirm any improvement in the textures within 25' of the ball by virtue of the forced 16X AF the X affords? Furthermore, do you see any evidence of the X's supersampling in this game?
Those are great numbers Divot, don't know how you keep sinking those putts. Enjoyed the course overall but if there was one hole where it kept getting me in all four rounds it was #12?
You know, the one where you have two ponds in between before the greens. Depending on the wind, I just could not figure out which club to use, I just never used the driver as I was afraid I would not reach the second fairway, with a 3 wood I was wet, and even using a 2 iron. Lost a lot of strokes there, there was some BS speed/undulation as usual in a couple of holes but overall, good course.

Where are you reading this? Doesn't seem to be an improvement to me. Still a horribly optimized game for all consoles it seems. I guess the loading times are better, so there's that. Maybe it's just the few courses I've played so far.

I'm reading the smoother framerate reports here and I've read a couple of smoother frame rate and improved texture reports in the official forum's XBox One X Preorder thread. http://www.hb-studios.com/forum/index.p ... #msg272961 I'll see if I can get a report as to what course the improved textures are being seen. I'm sure there's a lot of subjectivity in this though.
