Woo hoo!

Despite butchering a couple of holes and thanks to a LONG eagle I got me a -2 in the daily. For me thats a major victory. Glad you forgot to turn off the green aids. :D

A long putt for eagle or did you chip/pitch in? Did you find both the grids and manual caddie suggestion useful? I have found that with at least some pin settings, Royal Birkdale has grid information that is misleading, to say the least. I don't know that I've set a tournament there yet with pins as easy as today's event though.

I'll be teeing off at Birkdale here in a few... I just hope the wind has slowed a bit from what I saw in my "Play Now" scouting look-in about four hours ago!

The eagle was 150 yds or so out. My first ever from that far out. I am still devoid a hole in one.

They were both very useful as I am still many points far away from a complete golfer.

I have 200+ rounds and still do not have an Ace, but I do have 2 double eagles....

Oh yeah... those are even sweeter! I've holed out three times from between 110 and 195 yards for eagle. I have one hole in on in 276 rounds of play, and no double eagles.

I had two aces (even before I had an Eagle!) in my first few weeks with the game but haven't had one since.

I put together two horrible rounds in the last two Dailies. At Royal Birkdale, I had three bogeys and one double bogey. One of my bogeys was on a par 4 where I drove the green and was looking at a 31 foot putt for eagle. I friggin 4-putted from there  These were supposed to be easy greens, yet I still had one 4-putt and 2 3-putts... and this was with grids and manual caddie enabled 8O  As was the case with 10sPro, I think the manual caddie advice screws me up more than it helps. Every time I took his advice, I overplayed the break and missed the hole on the high side and/or long.

The Daily at AAC was the scene of my worst meltdown in recent memory. I was three under par coming to the 11th hole. I had a pitching wedge approach from 133 yards out from the fairway. I actually spun the ball back off the green, after hitting just on the green beyond the fringe, back down the hill, over the block wall and into the water. My golfer's spin attribute is set a 57... I generally don't back shots up like that!?

Anyway, I then proceeded to drop shots #4 and #6 into the water. The 8th shot I hit over the green and left myself a 17 foot putt for a 10, after a miserable pitch out of the rough. I came in at 3 under, and left at 3 over. I got it back to even, but then drowned another shot later on for a double bogey. I currently stand DFL on the leadboard  This game never ceases to amaze me in the various ways in which it can humiliate you :P

I've only had one ace and no double eagles yet. At the Atlanta Athletic Club in one of the early par 3 holes that had the big lake just in front of the pin, I usually go for a safe play to avoid the water but went for this one and the shot came down and hit the top of the pin and dropped 6 inches in front of the hole, that was one of the most rewarding shots I've taken in the game. Later though on on one of the par 5's I ended up going into the water but did manage to save par on that hole.

I found AAC deceivingly difficult and long. With the odd breeze around 6-7 mph I must have had only a single putt that landed 5' of the hole. Went for a swim on #3 or #4 a par 3 with a head wind where my ball landed way short of the greens, fell into the rough and kept rolling down until it finally sank into the water. The back 9 was a bit more forgiving I thought, but for the most part I played birdie followed almost immediately with a bogey.

AAC is my favorite course in the game. Yes, it does play deceptively long and it seems to bring its water into play more than any other course. The "10" I posted on the 11th hole yesterday doesn't change my fondness for the course, but it does give me a bit of respect from what the course can do when you take it too lightly.

Just wanted to give everyone a little extra notice on this coming Monday's "DLC" venue. I'll be setting up TPC River Highlands (AKA Mystery Bonus Course) as the site of the Daily. I know some folks have had difficulty fulfilling the requirements for getting it. I don't know what the procedure is, but I guess I backed my way into gettting it without realizing what I was doing  Anyway, I think it's a great course and I hope as many of you as possible get to play that Daily, it should be a little special.

Wow -17 is insane, congrats Ortho!

I had an eagle and 9 birdies at the Augusta daily, unfortunately 2 double bogeys and a triple kept it from becoming a great score.

That's always a good score at the Masters. I just simply struggled. It seemed that I just had to chip in a lot of shots to get it close to the greens. I was already +5 after the first 10 holes and if it wasn't for a few birdies later on my score would have been much worse. Finished with a +1.

Got home later than expected this morning from the (and I know I'm going to lose some man points for this  ) Coldplay concert in Charlotte last night, and I didn't have the energy to play a weekly or daily round. I did see where OrthoStud posted a -17 at Blackwolf Run... WOW!. I thought I was killing it with my -10, which included two missed putts of less than 6 feet due to the hydroplane effect of putting during the rain that I sometimes forget to account for.

Was the course still wet when you played it Ortho? The rain actually quit on the 15th hole, as I was playing my round and it did change the way the course played a bit. That's one of the reasons I like live weather, it truly is dynamic.

As for the concert, it should have been called the Will Champion/Guy Berryman show. The audio mix was so bad that it was dominated, and at times harshly dominated, by the percussion and bass. It really sounded painfully distorted at times. I'd never seen them in concert in person before, but after seeing some of their concert videos in surround sound, I was expecting a whole lot better than the product they delivered last night. The visual spectacle was beyond compare, particularly with the remote control "glowbands" they handed out at the door to wear on your wrists during the show. It was surrealistic to see 10's of thousands of these glowbands in operation.

J:

Did you feel a little out of place when at the end of the concert you raised your Bic lighter instead of your cell phone?

 ... thankfully they gave me the glowband and I had something else to concentrate on hoisting, thereby sparing the me the temptation of reaching for a Bic :) But yes, the Bic lighters were more organic than LED's

Today's daily was just flat out mean. I posted a +12, I had 4 birdies, but those undulating greens at Auguste coaxed me into 6 double bogeys and a triple bogey, ouch! All in all ! Still great fun.

JC: There was no rain when I played that round and the wind was no higher than 10mph at any point in the round.

It was a bit of a bear today. I started off with birdies on the first two holes, and wound up 2 under. You know you're not going to score well at Augusta when you bogey both the par 5's on the back 9. I chipped and pitched in from off the green three times in this round, otherwise I'd have been over par. Glad you stuck it out and posted a score. You probably picked up some things about the game's nuances on courses and conditions like that that you'll be able to use later on.

I'm now at my vacation spot and learned that we actually don't have internet connectivity. I'm linked now via my Sister-in-Law's 4G Hot Spot, but that leaves with her early this afternoon. Anyway, I was able to set Dailies for the rest of the week. I won't be playing any of the Dailies until Saturday night, at the earliest.

Play hard boys!

360 Patch Fixes (same as PS3 patch released 3 weks or so ago)

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8849998.page
Below is a list of fixes that went out in the most recent patch for the 360.

1.) Boost Pin "pop" in issue resolved in 4 Player Online games

2.) Camera flash / cut no longer occurs when hitting the ball out of bounds or tapping in

3.) Ping information is now properly reflected in ping indicator

4.) Swing follow-through length has been reduced for chip shots so that it looks more like a chip

5.) Strike Meter Fix - A dead zone has been added so that once the user tries to leave a certain range by pressing the Right-stick to the left or right, the strike meter will be reset to the center of the ball

6.) Fixed Course Mastery sync issue when purchasing Course Pins

7.) Fixed long load time issues when creating Photo Game Face

8.) Fixed a crash in the Pro Shop that occurred if the user had been in Photo Game Face

This is out of the scope of the DSP Cup thread, so I'll post it here. Some of you may have noticed that I set up yesterday's (Monday) Daily with Grids disabled and no caddy. That was intentional... I know we have a number of gridless stalwarts who prefer this and I thought it would be fitting to have at least one gridless Daily tournament a week.

Any other thoughts on this? I'm trying to gauge the sentiment about gridless play among those who still play this game and if there is a growing preference for gridless events, I'll try to make them commensurate to the demand for them.

I am one of those that prefer to go gridless so no problems here John. Congrats on the great score BTW.
