Danimal wrote:Can someone give me advice, I feel like I am getting a little better at this game but I am still clueless in some parts. I can't seem to put any shots on goal, does the stick have any control on where the shot goes?

Second someone explain what I shoul;d be looking for as far as subs go. I tried to go all defense when I was up against Hogz and I had no idea what to even look at for subbing players in. All I see is arrows pointing up and down and some kind of cryptic bio-rythm chart. Every game people sub against me and I have yet to make one sub in any game. Is this costing me?

Any help would be appreciated, I really enjoy playing this game but I am becoming so frustrated in league games.
For the first part, I think everyone has their own theory as to what works best. The best advice, I think, is to spend A LOT of time on the practice pitch with your league side trying different shot techniques. In general, though, make sure you're not trying to shoot on the run, off-balance, closely-marked, etc., or with the weak foot. Shooting skills matter a ton in WE - make sure you're using your best finishers whenever possible.

For the second part, not subbing will kill you against decent opponents. By 60' or so a lot of your guys are probably running on fumes, particularly if you're using the sprint button and/or mark buttons a lot. Forget about the "cryptic bio-rythm chart" for no - focus on the screens you access with R1 and L1, particularly the stamina gauge - if it is less than half, you need to sub in if you can. The arrows are the form and can affect things dramatically, so try to find a position sub that is in top form. Again, it is helpful to familiarize yourself with your team in advance if you don't know their tendencies IRL.

HTH - in WE nothing helps more than extended time on the training pitch.
PES 2008 makes baby Jesus cry.

I'll be at home studying all day today and tomorrow, popping online to see who I can snag. If anyone wants to play at a specific time it shouldn't be much of a problem to set it up. The best way to catch me is on AIM though - 'captplug'.

Chelsea 2 Olympique Lyonnais 1

Robben scores twice in the first 18' minutes, once on a header and the other on a great individual effort, and then Chelsea can barely get out of their own half the rest of the game. Olympique Lyonnais applies tremendous pressure for the last 3/4 of the game, but fall a goal short.

Real Madrid 1 Chelsea 2

Chelsea dominated play in the first half but could only manage a Shevchenko blast. Ronaldo got behind the Chelsea defense to fire a rocket of his own and knot the score with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Chelsea's Lampard ended the scoring at 55'.

Good game Jack.

I've been looking for you all weekend, we just keep missing each other. What time can you play tonight?

Also Zep I tried to play jack and we just can't connect again. Last time we had this issue and tried a day later and it worked, I didn't change a thing on my end to make it work either.

If it comes down to it with my game against Jack you can give me a loss if you have to, I have a solid hold on last place so it won't make a difference.

edit:

Danimal, let's try to hook up some other evening. It's 9:40 EDT and I haven't heard from you so I'm going to bed because I get up at 5:30AM. If you let me know a good night for you I'll stay up and we can get the game in.

Did you guys try resetting your routers and modems? Oftentimes, a full reset of both parties' network devices will clear this problem up (assuming of course that both parties are passing the network test in the system blade with open NAT readings).

If players try to connect but are unable to do so, the game will end up being a 0-0 draw. 3-0 forfeits are only for those games when one player is awol.

Brief match report

Fiorentina 1: 1 Sporting Lisbon

Bueno '74
Toni '79

Red card: Ricardo

A lively affair between promotion contenders was turned on its head by a bizarre late red and penalty, ultimately resulting in a draw.

Neither team could find the net in the first half, with the goalies making some nice saves, and Romagnoli for Sporting hitting the post on a FK from 23 yards.

Seemed more of the same in the 2nd half until Paredes put Bueno through, and Bueno found the low corner of the net to put Sporting up by one. Sporting's lead would be shortlived however, as Fiorentina did well to get a chance right in on Sporting keeper Ricardo. Ricardo made the initial save, but the shooter stumbled after colliding with a chasing defender, sending the attacker into a further tumble with keeper Ricardo. The referee did not hesitate to point to the spot awarding a PK, but also gave Ricardo a straight red for his trouble! Toni then equalized as his shot crashed in off the bar. Neither team could muster a winner, so the match ended a draw.

Sporting Lisbon 4:2 Barcelona

In a game with huge promotion implications, Sporting prevailed over Barca 4-2.

Sporting got off to a dream start, scoring in only the 7th minute. In what is surely the goal of the season for Sporting, Deivid came on to a through ball in the corner of the box. Seeing Valdes off his line, Deivid hit a curling chip shot that kissed the crossbar and barely crossed the line, giving Sporting a 1-0 lead.

Sporting would continue to get breaks, as after a misplay at the back, Deivid was alone on Valdes again, but from a poor angle. Deivid's initial shot was saved, but Bueno was the first to the spot and drove home the rebound, making it 2-0 on only 13 minutes.

Given their early lead, Sporting settled in a defensive formation, and Barcelona geared up its attack. On multiple occasions Ricardo was called on to make big saves, with Sporting often settling for blind clearances downfield. Just when it looked like Sporting would make it to halftime clear, Ronaldinho produced a great individual effort, scoring in stoppage time.

Deivid again lifted his club with another huge goal, converting a breakaway at 48', and again Sporting fought to defend their lead against the Barca onslaught.

On 82', Ronaldinho again showed his class, beating Ricardo to the far post, making it a one goal game for a second time. The comeback would be for naught however, as a late counter saw Romagnoli finish a breakaway, putting the game out of reach, 4-2.

Great game blub.

Goals:
Deivid 7'
Bueno 13'
Ronaldinho 45+'
Deivid 48'
Ronaldinho 82'
Romagnoli 90'

Yellow cards: Marquez, Zambrotta, Oleguer, Deco, Gudjohnsen.

Stats
Sporting Barca
SOG: 15(9), 10(8)
FK: 10, 2
CK: 1, 0
F(O): 2(1), 10(3)
Poss: 48, 52

Also, Bueno picked up a injury (yellow), so I'll need a die roll on that.
