Lots of helpful stuff in this thread. Starting to get the itch for a new panel mimnpretty interested in both the LG B6 or C6 and the Sammy KS8000.

Question was, was it an extra $1000 worth? After all, with the extra Dolby Vision feature, it was tech proofed for me for another 5-6 years. Right? Debatable, you may ask.

Ultimately, the fact that LG couldn't bring down the input lag even after their latest firmware, made me swing towards the KS8000. I knew the seller and I got a heck of a deal for $2500 CAD for the 65' model. But, I had to buy the extra warranty for 5 years. Gain some, give some.

Played Titanfall 2 and BF1 for a couple of rounds and I was salivating.

Tried "The Show" on the PS4 and everything was brilliant. Just beautiful. When I put a couple of 4K YouTube videos, it was equally breathtaking.

One thing I was told for those that wanted to calibrate the TV. Wait for the TV to reach about 200 hours of use, or about 2 months. By then, all the colours would have reached their peak and then you can proceed with the calibration.

As it is now everything is so brilliant for me, bright if you will. Brought the contrast down to 40 and it seemed to help.

My wife was watching her taped DWTS finale, and the Xmas decor showed all the vibrant colours to real life.

This is my Xmas gift and I am feeling very thankful. Enjoy your sets.
Great feedback 10s....and I could not agree more about the LG's.....I wanted one really bad until I saw all the reports of the input lag and it is just so damn much more expensive compared to the Samsung 8000 series. And to be honest, I can tell a slight difference between the two, but not double and sometimes triple the price.

Thanks for the heads up on calibrating after 200 hours.....

DirecTV spent most of the day Tuesday at my home trying to fix the sound pausing. The Tech is the same one who set my 5 year old receiver up to play with the new set through the optical interface. He found numerous issues with my dish, not grounded at all, a part was installed improperly that stabilizes the 4K sound and picture, etc.....he is coming back tomorrow. He called me directly and told he he has figured it out and will be here Friday to get it fixed. He is coming with the dish part that needs to be replaced and a new 4K box or three. He is tenacious and he will be my Tech for the foreseeable future as I can request him now.

Lastly, saw that Best Buy had dropped the price of the 60 inch Samsung 8000 series flat to the same price as my 55 curved 8000 series. Took the 55 back and got the 60 and the difference in size is incredible. Wife did not see the value in the curved screen, so she is on board and it is just beautiful. Now gotta get this thing broken in and picked a good weekend to do so.....

Best of luck with your Sammy 10s, and I agree with Terry, this is one VERY helpful thread!

Jump on the KS8000 family. Honestly as Divot was saying, my eyes were all over the LG B6 as I prefer the deeper blacks in general. I've been reading everyone's opinion in this thread for the past month or so and after having updated both consoles and not having a 4K TV, it seemed incomplete.

I've been waiting two years for a 4K basically. And while newer technologies and more OLED TVs will be available next year, it's a game you will never catch up to. To be totally satisfied with my purchase I wanted the Dolby Vision feature too. But only LG has it.

Usually people have already a 4K TV, and then they upgrade their consoles. I went the other way around.

Reading this forum is sometimes dangerous I would always often say. 8) It's like a drug you can't shake off.

I had no desire to upgrade my XBO to the S, especially with Scorpio on the horizon, but yes I remember you were one of the first people to adapt the new toy and was craving it, so after selling it for a good price I took the plunge. Ditto for the PS4.

As for the TV, you guys can probably find a great deal this weekend or coming up in Boxing Day. If I wasn't a gamer, I would probably go for the LG if money is no object.

But since we're all gamers here, the Samsung was the right choice in the end. Beautiful picture, vibrant colours, my only desire if I was really picky, is to tone down the white brightness.

Good luck to you and whoever else is looking for a 4K TV, and at this point make sure it's HDR no matter which brand you get.

Just an FYI for all of us jumping on the Samsung 8000 series.....

DirecTV and this series of Samsung has an issue that you at least need to be made aware of. The Samsung break out box and the DTV 4K box DO NOT get along at this time. I have had a DTV rep for the better part of 9 hours across two days here trying to resolve the sound dropping every 10 minutes. He has changed the L&B on the Dish to the proper one, no fix. He has tried every thing. He came across the following thread in the AT&T forums that discusses this very issue.

https://forums.att.com/t5/DIRECTV-DVR-R ... -p/4803477

This only happens with the 4K box and the Samsung 8000 series break out box. There is a $50 workaround from Monoprice, but I should not have to do this just to get sound that does not cut out. The HR54 main receiver works fine with sound, but no 4K service without the 4K box. I have disconnected my 4K receiver waiting for confirmation of a proper fix to this issue. Not a huge loss as there are only 3 channels for 4K, one is PPV movies at $10 pop, the other never has any programming that I can see, and the other is mainly a 4K channel to show off 4K programming.....

Briefly thought about using this issue to break my contract with DTV and go back to Comcast, but I believe they will fix this issue and I am about to bundle all my wireless accounts for the Family, DTV and I think I am going to try out AT&T's new Gigapower fiber optic internet service. If it runs as fast as they say, it will be many times faster than my Comcast cable service for the same price......and by bundling save about $100/month.

I'll keep you guys posted on the fix for this 4K sound issue.

I'm not having as great of results with mine. I tried Gears 4 and in the menus the buttons are so dark they are unreadable, there is a kind of darkness to everything on the TV. I'm trying to tinker with the setting but haven't been able to fix it yet. Do you know what setting you're running at?

My current settings are temporary, I am not too worry about perfection just yet. I am more than willing to wait for the colours to bleed out after two months or so and take it from there.

I have Game mode on, backlight cranked up, brightness about 45 and contrast 100. Sharpness 0, colours at 50. Auto motion and digital view turned off. Wherever HDMI you have your console hooked up, you should have the UHD colour to ON.

HDMI Black level on Auto and Dynamic contrast on Low. Color Tone is up to you, either Warm 1 or 2 works for me. It really depends on the game that you are playing, FH3 for example looks even great on Standard.

Color space is Native.

So again these settings work for me personally, although the white on the Ice while playing NHL is so bright that I almost need sunglasses as I was telling the Dragons yesterday.

One thing I am still trying to find out however is how to change the resolution of the screen. It's supposed to be on the 'Select' button of the Samsung controller, but whenever I press it, nothing happens. I currently have a splitter on my setup, where we don't have to necessarily turn ON the Xbox to watch TV.

So when I watch TV without the Xbox On, the resolution is only showing as 1280 as supposed to 3210x 2180 when the Xbox is on. Not sure what to do, granted my cable CO doesn't broadcast in 4K but shouldn't it be at least a 1980 resolution?

I think it depends on the program and what resolution you have set for your cable or satellite receiver. Most these days should be in 1920x1080 or 1080p and in many cases 1080i.

Loving the 65" LG OLED B6 that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. So far the biggest deal for me are the blacks and the viewing angle.

So I'm starting to wonder if I have a faulty set. I finally got my setting to where I want them for both gaming and my TV. Tonight where all watching TV when the picture just gets dark, like someone just turn the brightness way down. It was weird because it faded to dark like it was in some kind of power mode.

I just change the setting to natural or back to standard and it was fine, but then it did it two more times. I shut the TV down for a minute, restarted and it hasn't done it again. I'm wondering if this exact thing happened yesterday when trying to set up my XB1S.

I'll keep an eye on it but I'm assuming no one else has had this issue?

I've played Forza Horizon, NHL, Madden and NBA2K. I *think* I can tell that the lag is there, but it's not impacting my enjoyment of the games or the TV at all. Maybe it's a bigger deal for shooters?

Pretty sure I have the same set.....UN60KS8000FXZA......and no, mine has been flawless.

Might want to check the Connect One box to make sure it is secured. If you are running your HDMI's through an AVR, make sure you are connected to HDMI 4 which is for AVR receivers.

If all that fails, take it back and get a new one.

I have the 65 inch. I'll check the connections to the box tonight. Taking it back is going to be a hassle, we had it delivered but man I swear my Samsung 55 inch which is not Ultra HD has a better picture than this one. Something is just off.

Yeah, no idea. No problems like that, it's been flawless since day 1...but I've only got the 55".

Try a complete reset of the picture or simply unplug the set, leave it unplugged for a couple of minutes, plug it back in and let it go through set up again. My 60 was challenging to handle by myself, but I was successful. I think a 65 I would need help with that. Wish you luck on not having to take it back. If so, get the store to pick the old one up and bring you a new one. However, they will likely send out a Tech to confirm the reason for returning so this would take alot longer than returning on your own.

Yea, I was looking for a self diagnostic check in the software but didn't see one. I might have to call them and see what they can do.

Wasn't aware of this one. Not that I am having issues but I am pretty sure my HDMI 4 is hooked with something else. From what I recall the TV is hooked thru the HDMI out and the rest of my gadgets thru the other ports, pretty sure outlet #4 is used for something else.

This is on a Yamaha RX-V481 model.

Maybe. In any case, you have a beautiful TV man, my choice if I wasn't a gamer. You should be tech proofed for the next 5 years or do with this set. 8)

There is. Look under the Support function. I saw it this weekend when the DTV Tech was trying to fix my DTV 4K box sound issue.

Not sure if it would make any difference at all 10s....you could try it. I just noticed that HDMI 4 is labeled as an "ARC" connection which indicates it is ideal for HDMI sound pass through from an AVR receiver.

I'll take a look but I'm leaning on returning it for another one. I've owned a lot of Samsun TV's and a lot of their UHD models, this is my first SUHD (or whatever it is called) and this is the first time I've not turned it on and been blown away by the picture.

You may indeed have a bad one then. I turned mine on coming from a 6 year old 1080p Toshiba and was completely blown away.

Good luck on the new one.

Stupid question time.

When using the TV's Netflix and Youtube apps (KS8000), how do you display what the current output is? Whenever I switch HDMI ports from Comcast to XBOX One or vice versa it displays up top. That doesn't happen when I select the TV's apps for some reason.
