Re: NBA2k11
I'm playing the NBA Today exclusively. I'm not a fan of one team, but moreso of players. So, it's nice to choose a match up I can play one evening and the next evening play with two different teams, all the while having the dynamic commentary in place. It's my most favorite sports video game feature on the next gen consoles.

Re: NBA2k11
It's an awesome feature, and a new experience for me since I missed last year's version entirely.
I can see playing this more extensively than a franchise, because as much of a fan I am of the Bulls, it can get old repeatedly playing with the same team.
Also can see how this would be awesome in MLB 2K with correct lineups, starting pitchers, etc.

Re: NBA2k11
This game is hard to play. I can't play any defense.
I like the NBA Today feature as well. Except for the superstars, I really don't know many of the NBA players. It's a good way to learn teams and players.

Re: NBA2k11
I'm still loving it. But, there are three problems I have with the game:
1. Directional passing. RARELY, does the ball go to the guy I intended. Most times, it's way off. Thankfully, I'm comfortable with icon passing.
2. Rebounding. Computer opponents get ridiculous numbers of offensive rebounds and second chance points against me. I'm not even sure how to address this with sliders. Any ideas?
3. Loose balls. Maybe it's me, but there seems to be a notable imbalance between the number of loose balls picked up by the CPU vs. those picked up by me.

Re: NBA2k11
OS has the updated patch details, which is supposedly being released tomorrow (360, PS3).
http://www.operationsports.com/forums/n ... dates.html
Pretty good list that seems to be addressing some of the minor gameplay issues (directional passing, charges, etc.)

Re: NBA2k11
Amazon has this game on sale 'Cyber Monday' $29.99 360 and $39.99 PS3. I hope there's some left for Monday.

Re: NBA2k11
does anyone else have spacing problems with players bunching up on offense?
this seems to happen to me a lot.

Re: NBA2k11
The patch made a significant difference! It seriously feels like an enhanced 2k11 game. No more high bank shots on the PS3, players no longer jump high above the rim, you're no longer seeing the ridiculous number of offensive rebounds by the CPU, boxing out is finally effective, fast breaks seem more realistic, and the responsiveness of the players seems much improved. The game just feels more fair.

Is that one of those, you have a certain time window to click and claim a limited number type of deals?Rodster wrote:Amazon.com $29 BF

What's the better method to shoot? Do you use the button or the stick?sportdan30 wrote:The patch made a significant difference! It seriously feels like an enhanced 2k11 game. The patch is worth it for this alone:
-Users are now able to button through lengthy substitution overlays and get right back to gameplay.

I'm not sure tbh so I would plan on that being the case.wco81 wrote:Is that one of those, you have a certain time window to click and claim a limited number type of deals?Rodster wrote:Amazon.com $29 BF

Between this and plays being shown on the floor in My Player I'm a happy camper.Leebo33 wrote:The patch is worth it for this alone:

Re: NBA2k11
Abso-friggin-lutely. I played a quick half before dinner and I really liked what I saw. Rebounding was better as was passing. gameplay was definitely tighter. Between this game and NHL11 I am loving my sports fix on the 360.Leebo33 wrote:The patch is worth it for this alone:

Re: NBA2k11
The game has started freezing mid-game in Association mode for me, post-patch (though I don't know if the patch has anything to do with it). Totally sucks. 360 just locks up. Haven't gotten through a game since.
Re: NBA2k11
OK the Amazon deal is coming up in 10 minutes.
Still seem to have a lot of complaints about not being able to get into online games in the 2ksports forums.
Anyone here able to play this online?

Re: NBA2k11
Well just shipped away my copy after selling it on half.com for $43.
Tried it for a couple of hours and wanted to play FIFA 11 instead (even though that game is more annoying in many ways than FIFA 10 and 09).
Movement is so plodding and jump shot animation is off -- seems like you have to release before the apex and the release looks like a Tim Hardaway knuckle ball spin/arc than a jump shot.
When there are so many NBA players who can take one dribble into the lane and be at the rim, NBA 2K is too sluggish. It seems movement was done better in the PSX and Genesis days in NBA Live, even with the skating.
Not to mention the force field defense is still there. NBA Street dealt with this somewhat better by breaking ankles (and letting you pull off the same dribble moves on a consistent basis). There has to be some good medium between the force field and the breaking ankles action of an arcade sports game to bring some realism into basketball games. Especially in the NBA, good players just need to have defenders lean the wrong way or get lulled into relaxing in order to blow by them.
I'm sure there are skills which can be developed to pull off some more advanced moves as well as use picks and so on. But the poor online setup made it not worth keeping. No game completed. They'd all start out smooth and then after about a quarter, you'd see it try to sync, then come back for a couple more minutes and then completely disconnect.
Plus when you get into Crew games, you have no choice in selecting teams or the players you control? So you have to let some CPU-controlled players take shots or make bad passes? I played as Durrant on the Thunder and made a couple of shots and then one other basket by a CPU-controlled player before the disconnect. Otherwise they bricked most of them. And if I tried to get the ball, it tells you you're demanding the ball too much so you should let the dumb AI take shots?
I can see the appeal of the presentation, with the detailed models of faces and bodies of players and coaches. But maybe the detailed and close-up action has something to do with the plodding action and movement.

Re: NBA2k11
I started "My Player" last night, and the game is just ridiculous in making how gimped your player is initially. My Small Forward at 6'5" can't even make a layup. He has no business to be in the draft if he can't even do an uncontested layup.
