Yeah, but they didn't put it in a tourist destination. Being a half hour or whatever north of Miami was just stupid. It's also why I don't think the new Marlins stadium will do that well in Coral Gables. There is NOTHING there except for the U. We'll see how that goes, especially since there is zero parking in that area since it's essentially in amongst a bunch of run down houses. I was frightened driving through there with the wife when I visited the school a few years ago. At least the campus is in a nicer area.
The stadium is being built at the site of the old Orange Bowl in Little Havana. And this area is really blighted. Hopefully this will spur some redevelopment, but I got my doubts.

Yes...that's what I was referring to. Just houses around the empty Orange Bowl lot...and most are run down.

I went to the Orange Bowl to watch the Dolphins and UM play but the site the Marlins wanted the City of Miami to finance was going to be downtown and on the waterfront. It would have been a major coup for the Fish but the City backed off when they scared the taxpayers and tourists with higher taxes so the deal fell thru.

Scoring Bug or not?:

1 Out

Runners on 1st and 3rd

Jayson Werth hits a shallow fly ball to RF on a 3-2 pitch. I have Ryan Howard taking off from 1st on the pitch.

After touching 2nd, I can't get Howard to go back to 1st, so I send Victorino home from 3rd (tagged up)

The RF (who caught the ball) throws home and Victorino is safe. Then Posada throws to 1st base and Howard is doubled off.

Inning over, but the run counted.

Scoring bug or not?

Ship generally means delivery is the next day. I don't think in this case it has arrived early.

God bless Gamefly again. Shipped today, should be here tomorrow. That way I don't have to waste 60 bucks...or pay eBay fees.

That review doesn't sound too promising. Sounds like they improved the pitcher/batter part of the game, but there is still a lot to be desired everwhere else. Looks like The Show is still the better choice for those with both consoles. For those with just a 360, it sounds like MLB2K10 is improved from last year, but still has a ways to go.

Is anyone really shocked? It's on okay game...it's fine in a vacuum when there aren't any other games on the market, but up against competition it just feels beta. It has for years.

you know, i wonder if this is the same Visual Concepts team which developed the NFL 2k series. Have given Visual Concepts the benefit they would evenually release a top baseball game, if given the time.

they haven't yet

I'm pretty sure they aren't the same. 2k just hasn't been the same since the Genesis and World Series Baseball. It's a damn shame really. When your first next gen attempt is a game where you can't even control the defense...you know you're in for a world of hurt. They haven't recovered since.

The pitching, batting and presentation are better in 2K10 imo. The Show does some things better, but not those three things.

NFL 2k5 was a fine game but it was also a buggy mess. 2k games mostly are and when you don't have the gameplay they game won't be good.

That's exactly why I enjoyed 2K9 so much. It was fun warts and all.

Picked up the game last night and was able to play one game, me Cubs vs Cardinals at Busch. Won the game 3-1 behind homers from DLee off Chris Carpenter and Geo Soto off Trevor Miller (?). Zambrano pitched 7 innings for the win Carlos Marmol got the save. After playing the Show for the last few months, it was nice to go into the late innings with a lead and not have the cpu comeback. This was also my first win with Zambrano since playing 2k9. I went 0-9 with Big Z in the the show. I'll play 2k10 for a few months and then probably pick up the Show this summer or later. I really enjoy the Total Control Pitching in 2k10, preloading my throws. I've adjusted the batting cam as I really don't like the default angle. I like the addition of John Kruk in the booth giving pertinent information, doesn't look like he'll be the "comic relief" like Hudler is supposed to be. I use classic controls for hitting and when I hit the home runs, it really felt like I "got" it. Baserunning controls are really simple, but I think they've been the same for the last couple of years. Can't really remember my pitch counts, but the cpu did watch strikes and did chase pitches off the plate. I was playing on default pro with the visual pitching aids off. Wish I could turn off the cursor. It was nice being able to rely on my outfielders to catch routine fly balls. That was so frustrating in 2k9. Looks like there will opportunities for lots of hit variety. Arm strength seems too high, hopefully the roster guys or 2k will be able to fix that. Cpu seemed to make some strange decisions, but it was something I saw in real life. I had Soriano lead off with a double. there was a ball hit hard up the middle by Marlon Byrd that Lugo snagged, it would have been a close play at first. I had taken control of Soriano and rounded third like I was going to try to score. instead of taking the out at first Lugo fired to third and picked off Soriano trying to get back. Also, the cpu outfielders throws look really weird, they'll be throwing the ball towards second, but their arm will go towards first.

After the first game, a fun experience, and I'm looking forward to playing a lot more.

To turn off the cursor, go to controller and it is an option there. It is called something like 'batters eye." It is hard to use both batters eye to guess location, then use the left stick in the fraction of a second after batters eye disappears to use the stick to pull or go the opposite way, and still swing the bat cleanly. Also the cursor blocks the view of the pitcher- so I agree it had to go.

I may try the traditional hitting. I have been using the stick but even on default pro settings I am not seeing that many hits/runs. I have seen some doubles but I think the fielder speed is too high to see the ball get down the line past the fielders.

I have played about 5 games today and had a lot of fun. Much better than last year. I was even able to draw a few walks - but did not throw any yet. I think i need to make pitching a little harder. But for today I didn't want to mess with sliders.

Not sure how it will be for the long run, but so far the annoying aspects of last year are for the most part gone. I have enjoyed it a lot so far. And i have not tried the new 'be a player' option or whatever it is called. I may give that a shot tomorrow.
