The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.
Hey Badger, I went ahead a played the game per your original post.
Panthers Notch First Win in Debut Under New Regime
After starting the season a disappointing 0-3, the Carolina Panthers brass decided it was time to go in a new direction. Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was able to convince former Cowboys coach BHoward to forgo retirement and bring his brand of success to Charlotte.
"Retirement is fine, but you just cant beat the camaraderie of the DSPFL, and while we'll miss Dallas, Charlotte is our new home, and we'll try to finish what we weren't able to complete down in Texas", said Coach Howard.
The Panthers took the first step towards turning things around for the franchise with a 26-7 victory over the newly cpu led Vikings, the team that beat the Coach Howard led Cowboys in last years playoffs.
The Panthers started the scoring in the first quarter with a 3yd TD run by HB DeAngelo Williams who led the Panthers rushing attack with 128 yards on 19 carries. <embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Vikings responded quickly one minute later with a 79 yd bolt by superback Adrian Peterson, who led the Vikes with 123 yards rushing on 18 carries.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Panthers retook the lead for good later in the quarter with a 45 yd FG by K Rhys Lloyd:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Panthers were able to tack on another ten points in the 2nd quarter on a 13 yd TD pass from Delhomme to Jarrett into a crowd of Vikings:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
and on another 43 yd FG by Lloyd.
The Panthers ended the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 9 yd pass from Delhomme to TE King.
The Vikings defense forced Delhomme into three interceptions, though the QB did finish with two TD passes and 237 yards. Veteran WR Steve Smith, while held scoreless, did catch 6 passes for 91 yards, and TE Barnidge caught 5 passes for 68 yards.
While RB Peterson was able to score the Vikings sole TD, the Panthers D was able to keep the tailback to the only flaw in his skillset:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
All in all, a good return to the league for Coach Howard, and hopefully the beginning of a turnaround for the finally victorious Panthers.
The Panthers move on to face the Falcons, while the Vikings will next face Detroit.

Rams crushed by CPU Cards in front of a New years party crowd 30-7.
I knew there would be trouble when Bulger,Jackson and Avery were all hurt on the opening drive....All returned soon after but Bulger. The J. Scott era has begun!
No comment!...Must run...people here...
New years day EDIT: WoW!... 30-7 to the CPU? Making it 1-2 vs the CPU on the season. The same CPU that handed me a playoff spot last season? The same CPU every one is beating by 30-40 points?
I knew the day would come when it just wasnt there anymore but not this fast and not without warning. Maybe its time to hang em up. Retire from the consoles and just play pc games like Warcraft, Civilization and Dragon's Age? Maybe quit gaming all together and take up a different hobby like stamp collecting? knitting? park bench sitting? napping?
Happy New Year!

Titans 60 Jaguars 17
The Titans ring in the New Year with two drubbings of the Jacksonville Jaguars. . .the first one was interrupted by some glitchy revelers, which was unfortunate, since Brian Westbrook had 230 yards receiving and 3 or 4 TDs when the game was disconnected from the EA server. . .
In the second game, it was more of the same as the Titans racked up 633 yards of total offense, led by Donovan McNabb's 29 completions for 397 yards, 4 TDs and 1 INT. . .Chris Johnson added 152 yards on the ground on only 10 carries. . .even our receivers got into the act as 2nd year WR Kenny Britt went over the century mark racking up 116 total yards on 4 catches. . .
The Titans Defense was very active as well. . .racking up three sacks and three Interceptions and really only gave up one long early TD run to M-J Drew and surrendered a second late TD after forgetting which down it was and accidentally going for it at a their own 10 yard line on 4th down. . .not everything was firing at 2am in the morning. . .in fact, that's the reason I didn't get any videos for this game. . .I just totally forgot. . .looked at the stats and then exited without saving any. . .not that there was anything real spectacular. . .most of the TDs were short throws or runs from inside the 10.
Next week, the Titans take their 4-1 record on the road to the Meadowlands for the third leg of the NFC East tour with the Giants. . .the Jaguars on the other hand will be working on their plans to exit Jacksonville and move to Los Angeles. . .

Panthers Maul Falcons
The Carolina Panthers continued their road back to respectability with a 41-17 pasting of the cpu Atlanta Falcons. After losing their first three games with a combined score of 92-47, the Panthers have won their last 2 games under new management with a combined score of 67-24. The Panthers have changed their fortunes behind the fierce running attack of HB DeAngelo Williams and the receiving magic of the "real" WR Steve Smith.
Williams amassed 118 yards on 17 carries, while reaching the end zone once, and was complimented in the running game by his backup Jonathan Stewart who also scored once. Stewart ran for 49 yards on 6 carries with one scamper of 27 yards.
Panther receiver Steve Smith caught ten Jake Delhomme passes for 142 yards receiving. Smith scored on an 11 yard pass from Delhomme in the first quarter that put the Carolina up 14-0.
While Delhommes's stats were somewhat pedestrian, he did manage to throw for two touchdowns on 246 yards passing.
The Panthers defense gave Falcons QB Matt Ryan fits all day. Ryan was pressured into three interceptions on 11-32 passing. The Panthers defense was also to get to Ryan for 2 sacks. Outside of a 95 yd run and catch by HB Michael Turner, Ryan was unable to get comfortable all game. Panther CB Chris Gamble returned a Matt Ryan errant pass for 105 yards to end the first half.
The Panthers look to even their record next week as they go to face the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons go on to face the as of now undefeated New Orleans Saints.

The Colts escape their game against the cpu Patriots with a hard-earned 27-24 win. The Patriots defense completely shut down the Colts offense in the first half with a complete and total shutdown of the Colts running game and constant pressure on Manning which made it hard for the Colts to get a first down, much less score any points. The Patriots moved the ball pretty well against the Colts defense but were only able to muster 10 points in the first half making the half-time score 10-3.
The Colts made some half-time adjustments and totally abandoned the run and threw a lot of check down passes to deal with the Patriots pass rush. Thanks to a solid receiving effort from Joseph Addai and Dallas Clark the Colts were able to finally start putting points on the board and were also able to get a 17-10 lead. The Patriots took a 24-20 lead with 3-minutes left in the game forcing the Colts to put together a 2-minute drive that ended in a touchdown. Things looked bleak on 4th-and-8 from the Patriots 19-yard-line but Manning connected on a touchdown pass to Dallas Clark to take a 27-24 lead with 33 seconds left. The Colts defense held and the Colts felt lucky to win the game.

Broncos lose to the Chargers 10-7. The score is closer then the game as San Diego completely dominated Denver. At one point Rivers was 23-26. I'm not even sure how I was in the game at the end. But a big sack on second down and a nice play on a 3rd down screen forced Denver to try and hit a 58 yard field goal to tie the game and it hit off the bottom crossbar.
The most interesting news is San Diego lost Chris Chamber for life as he suffered a career ending neck injury. Of course he was sitting up and waving on the cart during the cut scene so presumably the ER guys dropped him on his head.
Great game Mac you really had my number, i couldn't stop your offense and I couldn't stop your blitzing.

Raiders Blank Texans to Remain Undefeated
OAKLAND - The Oakland defense should be nicknamed The Big Donut, because that's what this fast, hard-hitting unit keeps hanging on its opponents.
The Raiders had their second shutout in a row against the struggling Houston Texans, winning 23-0. The Oakland defense simply smothered the Houston offense, holding the Texans to 121 yards of offense and picking off quarterback Matt Schaub once. On the offensive side, two interceptions by rookie quarterback sensation Dane Morrow slowed but didn't stop an Oakland attack that racked up 377 yards and held the ball for an astonishing 36 minutes.
On the first Oakland possession, Morrow went to work, finding speedster Darrius Heyward-Bey for a 33-yard reception:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The play led to a one-yard touchdown run by running back Justin Fargas, giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead early.
Houston had a chance to answer back on the following drive. Quarterback Matt Schaub lofted a perfect pass to receiver Jacoby Jones, who beat his single coverage and looked poised to tie the game:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
But Jones dropped the ball and a huge opportunity to get the Texans right back in the game.
The Texans defense gave Houston another chance when rookie safety Will Barkley picked off a pass near midfield:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The interception was Barkley's second and only the second interception thrown by Morrow on the season. The Texans failed to take advantage of the turnover, though, and Morrow came right back, faking out the Houston secondary with a play-action move that freed Heyward-Bey for a 42-yard gain:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Heyward-Bey finished the day with five receptions for 123 yards. This reception led to an eight-yard touchdown pass from Morrow to rookie tight end Cameron Jackson and increased Oakland's lead to 14-0.
Down but not out, the Houston offense finally came to life midway through the second quarter. Mixing up runs and passes, they managed to move the ball against the Raiders stingy defense before finding themselves with a second-and-one deep in Raider territory. Running back Steve Slaton was stuffed twice, however, with a livid Coach Brando losing a challenge on a third and one that initially appeared good but replay showed was just short. On fourth and about one inch, quarterback Schaub fell forward for the keeper, but the Raider defensive line pushed back and caused him to lose yardage, forcing a turnover on downs and causing a huge momentum shift. The Raiders managed to drive down for a field goal at the end of the first half, taking a comfortable 17-0 lead into the locker room.
The third quarter appeared to be all Raiders as Coach TCrouch shifted to a bruising running attack with backs Michael Bush and Justin Fargas, establishing a ten-minute drive that pushed the Texans across the field. But a timely sack by Houston defensive end Mario Williams led to the second Raider turnover:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Rather than play it safe, Morrow gambled with a pass on third-and-18, but was picked off by safety Eugene Wilson to give the Texans a small spark late in the third. Once again, though, the Oakland defense held, and two field goals in the fourth iced the game for the Raiders. Morrow finished 15 of 22 for 263 yards, while Bush and Fargas combined for 130 yards on 33 carries.
The Texans travel to Indianapolis to face the undefeated Colts--their third undefeated opponent in a row--while the Raiders host a St. Louis Rams team reeling from two losses to CPU teams.
---
Great game, Terry. You kept me off balance with your playcalling and your defense was just suffocating except for my one good drive. I had my chances to keep it close in the first half but couldn't capitalize, and you just took over the game in the third quarter.

Great game, Terry. You kept me off balance with your playcalling and your defense was just suffocating except for my one good drive. I had my chances to keep it close in the first half but couldn't capitalize, and you just took over the game in the third quarter.
That was a lot of fun Dan. Rivers was absolutely on fire for most of the game and then you had to go and tell me his stats. I think he went 2 of 9 with a pick after thatDanimal wrote:Broncos lose to the Chargers 10-7.

An sorry for laughing with the chambers thing. When he went down i was yelling i hope he broke his f***in leg, then when it came up and said career ender it was just too funny.
I must say that's a first for me in madden seeing a career ending injury.

That was a pretty incredible game, Brando. I'm still not quite sure how you have a total of 1 victory over the gang here in this franchise, because you play some incredibly smart ball.Brando70 wrote:Great game, Terry. I couldn't hit on the deep quick strike passes.
I couldn't gouge you for huge runs.
I couldn't blitz carelessly (I tried and you ended up chewing up clock on that long drive).
It really was an incredibly difficult game. I went into that game averaging close to 50 points a game on offense and came away with just 23 and nothing but a pair of field goals after half time. Your defense completely bottled me up, and forced the worst game of my QB's young career.
You played it as efficiently as you could until it was just so late in the game that you HAD to force something or guarantee a loss. Like I said in chat, it was one play away (like a dropped deep bomb early on) from being a completely different game.
In any case, always a pleasure. Hell of a game.
***PS...I vow to never run directly at you again. I think I lost track after the 7th time you stuffed me at the line of scrimmage with a controlled defensive lineman. Brilliant play shedding blocks and clogging the lane I wanted to hit. My entire "explosive" offense was reduced to 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust.
