Games like TW take forever to get when they are released.
That's odd, I got mine on Wednesday from GF. Mine shipped Monday afternoon. Did yours ship then too? I'm assuming your shipping center is in PA like mine right? I usually have no problems getting new releases quick if they actually ship out on release day. The only time the old leave an open slot with only new releases in the queue trick didn't work was with Too Human otherwise it always works.
It hasn't even shipped yet
It has availability as "low" on my Q, even though I had it on my Game Q before release date. I might have to break down and buy it. Anyone know where it's on sale?

I guess it all comes down to "how easily you are satisfied". I am usually pretty happy with most games, even though I like to complain a lot about them With regards to TW, I think more people are less tolerant of this specific game because of the lack of advances this series has seen over the past decade and with the general way the console versions have always been "dumbed down" compared to the PC versions. It's more frustration than anything else. Links 2004 is probably still the best console golf game and its over 4 years old!

Therein lies the problem....Links 2004 was and still is an excellent game. However, it is no longer in production and the IP rights to it are buried somewhere within Take 2's HQ. Why? Because it did not succeed commercially. Sports games have to strike a balance between realism and approachability for the average consumer. That is a fine line that is difficult to balance and no one has managed to pull it off yet...and still stay in business. EA could give simulation users more to work with and each year they are doing so, but the progress is slow, much slower than some would like including me.

But as a consumer you don't have to be tolerant especially with a company like EA. So the best way to show your dislike towards a particular game is to boycott it and save your hard earned $$$. As many would agree, it's impossible to have that perfect game.
It's TW 09 a step ahead of 08? I think so. Control wise as I mentioned earlier is more forgiving. Is it worth the $60 for a casual golf gamer? You may want to rent it first if you honestly think that the franchise is stuck in gear two. As an avid golfer, I think the game represents many fine aspects of the game, does it need some tune ups? Of course. And that's why we'll have 2010 and 2011 and so on.

Links with Tiger on the cover would have sold twice as much, though. And it's plenty approachable played on Easy while still being rock hard on Advanced.
I could never quite complete all the Advanced challeneges.
Circuit City will give you a $5 gift card with purchase. If you are a Best Buy rewards member you should have a 10% off coupon that starts today. Costco had the Wii version for 10% off but I didn't see any other versions at my local warehouse.
I bought the 360 version. It's much better than the Wii version IMO for what I'm looking for. Tiger Woods was one of my favorite games last year and seems even better so far. The courses do indeed look much better!
I think the best way to handle difficulty would be to allow choices. It is kind of strange that you have to play the game more to make it harder. That seems counter-intuitive to me as compared to real golf. However, it will be nice to keep the challenge as I go.
A couple minor gries. Golf courses in a $60 game should not be unlockables. Do I have to play 2 seasons to unlock Heinz Field in Madden or Mellon Arena in NHL? I play a lot of casual "play now" rounds and when they lock sh*t I end up playing the unlocked courses a lot and never get to enjoy the ones unlocked last. If anything, they should leave the courses that have been in the game forever locked and let me experience the new courses from the get go. Also, I'm not sure why I can't just import last year's game face photos as I was real happy with my results. And why no Mac support yet for photogame face?

You mean typing in "GREENSFEES" doesn't work this year?

I would love it if there is a code. I remember a couple years ago you actually had to pay $5 to unlock the courses.

Yes they did. And I would follow IGN's advice:
"So I'll tell you right now, if you have waited on my review before deciding whether to purchase the game or not, stop reading now, get to your nearest message board and paypal Leebo33 $40. You won't be disappointed."

Teal -- when did I say I wasn't happy. I mean geez what the f*** do I have to post regarding a game. Oh hey the putting system sucks but it sucks like a high-dollar hooker.
The game has the same glaring issues as last year. It's more refined and feels a bit more organic, but at the end of the day, it's a slight upgrade from last year.
My score of the game might go up when I make it more difficult. Right now it's boring because I can win every tournament.

Where did you see your name in my post, Rod? Why do you think I'm coming after you? I just asked a question, something I don't really understand. I don't share the joy that some of you have in getting your ass handed to you by a game. For me, it seems sadistic. When I sit down to play a game, I do so to relax and unwind, to unplug. I can't STAND getting the piss kicked out of me by a computer.

The same reason I still play PGA 2000 for PC to this day---it's rewarding like real golf is. For me personally, I don't want to power up a character with XP points so I can hit 350 yard drives down the middle or do some long career mode, I just want to play golf.
The satisfaction of playing a simple round in PGA 2000, knowing that on any given round my score could end up anywhere between 65 and 100 is more satisfying than any other golf video game experience I've had to this day.

So I'm just asking.
I like a balance. I don't want to hit 100% of my fairways and hole out 3 chips per round. Realism = FUN for me.

Too easy + Not Enough Challenge = boring.
Well, here's my thing: I suck at golf. Really suck. Several years ago, I actually broke 100-shot 94. That was the highlight of my golf prowess.
I don't even want to think of having a golf video game that mimicks my real life ability. That frustrates me...it doesn't entertain...
Jack: Yes, I get BB coupons in the mail prior to almost every holiday weekend.
Squid: Sorry, if you take the envelope and postage costs from the $30 it doesn't come close enough to ebay resale or even what I could get at Gamestop if they run a trade-in special.

I get what you're saying Teal and for me it all depends on the game. If I boot up a game and I'm already destroying the competition I lose interest and ultimately don't want to play the game anymore. Some games I love throwing in a cheat code and kicking the you know what outta everything but sports games (just like sports in real life) are supposed to challenge us not be a walk in the park. Tiger Woods makes golf about as difficult as picking my nose and isn't even half as fun IMHO. Of course there is that happy balance between getting my a$$ handed to me and feeling like I'm being pushed to improve my skills.
I wish my 360 wasn't RROD'ing on me otherwise I'd give that version a try as the Wii version was a big disappointment.

Yeah, it depends on the game. In Tiger Woods I don't care if the CPU is challenging because I hate the challenges vs. the CPU anyway, but having the golfing itself challenging adds so much more to the game. A big part of golf is risk/reward, course management, and hazards. If the game is easy then that takes a lot of fun out of it IMO. For instance, Tiger Woods games on the last generation were plagued by 2 things: every shot was absolutely straight and the game cheated to allow you to chip-in or get easy eagles because the ball was magnetically drawn to the cup. They've come a long way in the Next Gen, especially with the club tuning. I'm playing the Tiger challenges now and it is fun, but it is "too easy" at the beginning because almost every drive is straight down the middle. That's OK because I'm just trying to onlock stuff, but long term that would be a problem for me because I want to have to make shots and hard decisions from the rough, behind trees, etc. Luckily, I know with club tuning and Tour Pro difficulty the challenge is going to be there.
I'm really impressed at the improved graphics on the courses. The game is a lot of fun that is for sure. I'm still disappointed that you can't play a season or tournament with a pro and the game still moves your ball out of tricky situations so it can give your player room to swing, but overall I'm pleased. Last year Tiger Woods passed Links as my favorite console golf game and this year it just got better on the 360.
