I've only had an hour or two each night this week to play COD4, but I am having the best time I've ever had with a FPS. Single player is just so well done that I really don't have a problem with it's "shortness."

As for MP, I know that my 39 year old reflexes are no match for the majority of players on-line, but each MP session has still been a blast. I generally finish near the bottom of each game session, but it doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the experience. I don't play with a headset (unless it's a DSP night), so that probably helps the enjoyment factor too, since I don't have to listen to the idiots....

Same here, I am getting demolished online but I don't really mind as long as I contribute alittle bit to my team's success. It is so intense to shoot from a window and then back off and see bullets flying everywhere from the retaliatory shots. Amazingly intense.

I haven't even touched MP yet, also having only been able to play about an hour of the SP game each night this week, and I already feel that I've more than gotten my monies worth. What a great game. This ghillie up level is awesome so far. I don't have any idea how close to the end I am but I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

If anyone's curious about the PS3 version, it looks and plays fantastic, IMO. Again, though, I still haven't made my way online with it yet so I can't speak to the MP experience. But the SP game is awesome on a 1080p sammy.

THIS GAME IS AMAZING

My name is Seth... I like sprinting, shotguns, knifing people in the back, and long walks on the beach.

Alright, first level on the ship. I'm wandering around on my own. While I'm walking somewhere, a comment will appear saying "objective below". What does that mean? I'm trying to keep my compass in the middle but all of a sudden it'll slide all the way to the right or left.

Help me off this ship PLEASE!

Well at least you were able to get past the training level OK:) Just follow your team down, they do most of the work on the ship level anyway.

Finished the game the other day, one of the best shooter experiences I've had ever. I can see people saying it is short, but it was on par with Halo and GRAW2 length in my opinion. The difference in the 3 I was disappointed the story was over in COD, the other two I was relieved.

Still I wish their would have been a co-op play component but all in all great game.

Man, I thought I'd never finish the "All Ghillied Up" level. That was NUTS! :)

Take care,

(PC version) I'm not sucking so much online now. I actually came first overall in a 24 player team deathmatch last night with 18 kills and a few assists. I got that "6 in a row" streak so I could order in UAV and then I got an airstrike as well and that netted me about 8 kills.

I'm getting the hang of it and in games now I get more kills than deaths, most of the time. I still suck at killing someone when we are BOTH surprised and run into the same area.

There's a lot of people quite good at finding that good hiding spot and sniping/red-dot-aiming away. Whenever I do that it seems someone sneaks up on me and stabs me. I have way better success if I just keep moving around alot.

Last stand perk is very fun... been getting a few 20 point kills that way.

I always find that it's much, much easier to play a FPS with a keyboard and a good mouse. In fact when you pair a good FPS gamer using a keyboard and mouse someone who's playing the same game with a controller is usually at a disadvantage.

The same goes for racing sims. Anyone who plays with a wheel is at an advantage over someone who plays with a gamepad.

Well, after a weekend with this game I have to say that I'm really truly impressed with it. The single player is cool but the multiplayer is unbelievably cool. I'm still not the biggest fan of having to unlock game types but I've warmed up to the levelling system. The game really does open up once you can create your own class and you open the challenges. The red dot is a must.

I spent the weekend playing with guys on DSP, guys from OS and KOFF, and randoms. I was having fun no matter who I was playing. I ran into some loser randoms but overall the experience was great.

I was able to make it to level 15 so I'm getting there.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

The game really is incredible. I went back and popped in some Halo last night and was so miffed by the lack of a sprint function that it made it hard to enjoy. The endless dance of flanking and sprinting for cover in CoD is a lot of fun, and the maps are so interesting. For a game without a cover system (technically), I find myself using cover more than in any other game, perhaps.

Started to play around with the assault rifles, but keep going back to the shotgun. I use the radar scrambler as one of my perks, and it's super satisfying to sneak into an enemy stronghold, flashbang and then take out three dudes with the knife and shotty before they get their bearings. I've only managed that trick a couple times, though!

I got the 10 kills without dying just once, but it was before I had challenges unlocked. Now that my rank is getting higher it seems like a tougher and tougher goal to re-achieve.

At this point, it is my absolute favorite online shooter of all-time.

I'm finding myself a bit paralyzed with options now, though! :) I have a bunch of new weapons and perks that I want to mess around with/combine, but lemme tell you that online is a really rough 'test environment!' :)

A 'let's see how this works' session usually sees me -5 kills or so even before I can get my feet under me!

Same problem here. I was having great success last night with the M60, especially after getting the sight. But I wanted to switch over to work on the shotgun some and I just couldn't. I will get to it tonight though :)

BTW, that was funny as hell last night. I didn't even know you joined the room until I saw "Killed by [DSP]Webdanzer." LOL

P.S. I've softened my "nerf the martyrdom perk" stance, as it is easily the best way to get revenge on those pesky SOB's who bring knives to the gunfight...like Slumber :)

One thing I like about it in particular is that you can be doing really poorly for 90% of the match and then have one good stretch where you turn the tide of the battle. The way you can get the game to start working for you via helicopters and air strikes is very cool... couple that with a last minute comeback victory and it's fist-pumping time... a gesture once reserved only for a sweet goal in Winning Eleven.

You're a sniper, Diablo? I'm really bad at sniping in this game. I greatly feel the 'need for speed' in this game, and I've never really found a sniper groove.

One thing that is irksome on occasion is the 'spawn into a death' syndrome. I went a pretty long time before it bothered me much, but last night I had an egregious round where I spawned into insta-death *4* times within a single round! Twice by grenades, and twice into the middle of gunfire. Overall I don't mind the spawn system, but maybe a 2 second-ish invulnerability(but can't fire) on respawn would be nice...

Just finished the single player on Normal and went back to start it again on Veteran - even the single player is wicked fun IMO. Has anyone managed to finish the Epilogue mission on Veteran difficulty? I tried for an hour straight (just for shits & giggles) and I cannot fathom how someone could complete it in the time allotted for Veteran difficulty.....

....come to think of it I have no idea how that some guy finished the training course in ELEVEN SECONDS but he did (check the leaderboards - just insane!).

I completely agree! If thye just added a GoW/RS:V style cover in the next release it would become the best shooter ever.

I think the Shotgun is the most useless weapon for most of the maps. And the basic assult weapon with red dot sight is far too effective.

I guess it evens out the game.

I've been trying to get sniper accomplishments and feel I'm decent being a sniper but not a lot of kills or deaths. I don't know the maps by names but any map that allows you to get long elevated views is good for sniping.

I wish there was more options and incentives to play with different weapons.

I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the game by not playing in rooms with anyone over a 45-50 rank. But it still feels too much of a meat grinder with little incentive to actually stay alive aside from getting the aerial support. For instance, last night in a random team domination room, I was playing as a sniper and was doing the best I've ever done with that set-up. I had strung together 6-7 kills by shooting and moving. I used my explosives wisely and even killed off a few people that tried to sneak up on me. But I emptied my entire clip and had to go find a weapon.

That tells me this whole game is really built open shoot, die, spawn get full weapons. I wish say after 10 kills or a certain amount of time alive you could get sent in arial reinforcements for your weapons. Or the entire teams gets reloaded full of grenades and ammo. Or have a choice between helicopter support and reinforcements.

I just wish their was more of an incentive to stay alive.
