Martin Jol has gone as manager of Tottenham. Guess 1 win out of 10 in the league and losing at home to Getafe in the UEFA cup just doesn't cut the mustard.
Still, he was stabbed in the back by his chairman, who has been negotiating with Sevilla's Juande Ramos for ages, and some of the players need to take a long look at themselves as well (that'll be you, Paul 'I ate all the pies' Robinson and Darren 'I cost more than Thierry Henry' Bent).
The Ajax job being available (I think) might have helped him, plus Spurs are quoted on the stock market and couldn't make such a move after their regulatory announcements which are some time soon.

Indeed it was, but that first Babel goal was a beauty. Still need to win out in the group to be sure, which is a shitty place to be. Best game ever for Arbeloa in a Reds shirt.JRod wrote:Basiktas.Macca00 wrote:Boring, boring Liverpool.

When Arsenal win 7-0 in the CL it's because they're AMAZING. When Liverpool set a CL record for a win it's because their opposition are crap.
How good is Ryan Babel? Forget that first goal (shades of a goal Digger Barnes scored in his hattrick versus Crewe in the FA Cup many moons ago), but how about the second?!?! How many players do you know that can score from outside the 18 yard box using their arse? Van Persie sure can't.
Rob's right, we still need to beat Porto and then Marseille away. Hopefully Bolo and Djibril can score a few own goals for us....

It's Liverpool. I guess this 8-0 win means they've won the Champions League.
They lost to Marseille, Basiktas and drew against Porto. One game really means nothing. They have to win out just to advance.

Nothing to do with winning the champions league more to do with scoring 8 goals .JRod wrote:It's Liverpool. I guess this 8-0 win means they've won the Champions League.

Manchester's bakeries are currently adding machinery and recruiting staff as fast as possible..
Paul Robinson is linked with a January move to Man City

Everyone forgets Smeichel is 21. Maybe too young but still he's not Robo.

Schmeichel is at Cardiff City, you're right, Rob. Joe Hart is in goal for Man City at the minute, and he's only around the same age as Kasper.
Frankly, if my club were looking to sign Paul Robinson I'd start going to the match on a Saturday with my gloves in my pocket, just in case we were really that desperate for a new custodian. I bet Dave's already doing it at the City Of Manchester Stadium of a weekend.
Edit: Squiddy, who was that playing in blue and white on Saturday, and what have they done with Sheffield Wednesday?

Yeah, Schmeichel Jnr is out at Cardiff at the moment..he really struggled in the 3-3 draw against Fulham and was sent out to guarantee first team experience. Joe Hart is only 20 or so and is doing well at the moment, but most keepers don't really hit their peak til their late 20s or early 30s, and it may be that SGE is concerned about the effects upon Hart's morale if he is exposed to a full Prem season at this age - City fans of a slightly older vintage may remember that Nicky Weaver's career was largely derailed by being overplayed at an early age (as well as a horrendous series of injuries).
Despite that, Hart is keeping Swedish international keeper Isaakson out of the team at the moment, but I think it would be difficult to sustain that over a season. City were strongly linked with Livorno's keeper over the summer, but they are currently bottom of Serie A so unless he's injured, that doesn't look promising.
