I'm in the same boat. I become frustrated with the game offline after about 15 minutes with it. It definitely doesn't compare to past versions of the game, or to the PC and PS2 versions of this year's game.Dave wrote:
Anyone else feeling the same way? The game isn't broken, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

I'm curious... How does the PS2 2007 version compare to WE9 on the xbox?
I have WE2007 and simply do not enjoy it offline at all. Online it can be enjoyable, assuming you have a decent connection. I still love WE9 and think it's the best footy title to date, followed by Fifa 2007 on the xbox. For those of you who have not played the xbox version of Fifa 2007, you may be surprised at how nice a game of soccer that plays.

If you can stand the PS2 graphics, then it's better than WE9. It's a solid game all around.FifaInspected wrote:I'm curious... How does the PS2 2007 version compare to WE9 on the xbox?

I'm with you....there certainly was a bigger learning curve this year though- but once I got familiar with the controls, I started really loving this game.Leebo33 wrote:I guess I'm in the minority because I love the game offline.
On Regular difficulty anyways, the CPU doesn't swarm you like nuts as in previous games. I'm really able to move the ball around and play some attractive football. Scoring from long range seems a bit too tough, but I'm gettin closer.
AFter several weeks, I am definitely not "feeling" this year's WE 360
game. I don't know exactly what it is, but the gameplay feels very different from past versions of the game. You teammates seem to stand
around an awful lot and I don't like the softer shots and passes. I am having more fun with the EUFA demo and that's a scary thing. Konami has to somehow recapture that "organic" feel that it lost in this year's game. The control of the players also seems less responsive than it was and I often times can't switch to the right player. I think this one's going back on Ebay and I never thought I would say that about a WE game. Maybe I'll pick up the PS2 version?

As a longtime WE player, and someone who imported WE10J for PS2, I was initially pretty disappointed with WE10 360. The lack of options isn't that big a deal to me, but the weaker short passes and phenomenal cpu 1v1 defending took a lot of getting used to.
I have now spent a significant amount of time with the game, and think that it's still a very good game that I enjoy playing. There's still very good physics and AI creating one of kind goals which keep it exciting. Yeah, there's a lot of things to improve upon for next year's release, but this version isn't a total loss.
I'd say that WE10 360 is superior to WE9 (on any platform), but is inferior to WE10 PS2 (this conclusion is hardly something new). I still have my PS2, but it's not worth it to me to change versions for online and offline play.

Speaking just of the 360 versions, I think that if WE 10 is superior to WE9 in gameplay...and I'm not certain that it is... any superiority is lost due to the absence of longer online games, an editor and other basics which were present in 9 but not in 10. And the fouling system is flat-out broken in WE 10.
WE 10's gameplay is overly penal when it comes to shooting off-balance, and especially shooting with a defender in the vicinity. I may need to dial the difficulty down, because on Pro virtually every CB plays like John Terry. I scheduled a bunch of patsies for the off season, and I routinely see 65 rated CB's make inch-perfect slide tackles from behind and stand like the rock of Gibraltar when forwards are running at them.
Konami has clearly made a conscious decision to nerf long shots, which is an acceptable design choice. But I believe they have probably over compensated a bit. Passing has been made even more of an adventure, as the odd mechanic of "spontaneous" through-balls has been expanded. If I want to lead a player, I will use the designated button to do so. Surprising me with a high-risk pass when I've asked for a conservative A-button pass drives me absolutely mad!
I honestly don't know or particularly care about the reasons for some of the slips in the gameplay dept. I don't care if it's a new build, or if the 360 is given short shrift due to MS's tertiary market position in Japan. I'm playing the game and still enjoying it, but not nearly as much as I have previous versions.
The bottom line is that I love the league and enjoyed the tourney, but not expressly because of anything that is different in this year's version. Rather I'm enjoying those things because the players are good, the competition entertaining and the game still retains some of its prior genius. The foundation is starting to show some cracks though, and I really hope that Konami makes the effort to fix them.

This 360 version frustrates the s*** out of me but i still wanna play it , there is something about the gameplay which i think is brilliant but then you give up a corner and boom it rears its ugly head, getting out jumped by a dwarf attacker between Carragher and Hyppia who also have position on said attacker goal... corner goal corner goal.
The defense blows in this 360 version, realy bad decision making, fullbacks rarely close down the spaces so ive resorted to 3 at the back as it was pointless.
Frustrating as hell this game but damn i just wanna play it more than any other game i have right now.
Its sweet and sour, its bitter sweet, its puking the morning after a good night out.

OK, I got the PC version of Winning Eleven 2007 and it plays much more like the WE I know and love!
2 questions.......where can I download mods/rosters for this game?
Why can't I get 1680 X 1050 Resolution to work? It was a way to choose it in the setting menu, but then when I start up the game, it goes back to 640 X 480. Every other resolution works, but 1680 X 1050 doesn't stick?
Any ideas?

Wow, I didn't know there was a PC version of WE. I've been running the PC version of PES, which is brilliant. For that there are a couple of mega-patches. Check the Evo-Web site. The Evo Patch is clearly the best of these. It will install kitserver which also lets you select widescreen resolution and tweak the graphics detail. As far as the larger resolution not working for you, are you sure your monitor/card supports 1680 x 1050, and if if that is the maximum resolution make sure you're not trying to run in windowed mode.JackB1 wrote:OK, I got the PC version of Winning Eleven 2007 and it plays much more like the WE I know and love!

Is that PE 6 you are running?

Anyone have recommendations for a good & cheap external DVD RW drive?
I ordered PES 6 from www.cd-wow.us for $31.99 today, and I'd like to have a DVD drive installed by the time it turns up.

First of all, I wouldn't buy an external drive. But if you have to...just check out newegg.com. There are ratings for every drive and just buy one that sounds good to you. The guys that buy from there are generally technically sound and you can get some good feedback on products. And their service is top notch.
An external drive is a bad idea? I kind of need one anyway so I can back up my music and stuff for whenever we finally get a new PC.
I know external drives hooked up by USB 2.0 don't copy data as fast as internal ones, but that's not a big issue for me.
[EDIT] Thanks for the help; the newegg site looks promising.
I actually have an emachines, hehe.

I have had two externals and they just don't work as well or reliably (especially when burning) as internal IDE drives. That said, if you have a machine by Dell or someone that you can't put a regular IDE internal in, you don't have a choice. Like I said, look at Newegg and find one that sounds good and has a lot of reviews. They are very well priced there as well.Feanor wrote:An external drive is a bad idea? I made my first compilation using goals scored on the PS2 version of WE 2007, but captured on the PC version of PES 6. Since the ball list is in a different order, unfortunately the dark blue ball is in a lot of these replays. In future I won't use the white & red Reebok balls in WE 2007 since these correspond to the dark balls in PES 6.
I uploaded it to Putfile and youtube, but Putfile looks better:
