And the Superbowl will be ...
Bears vs. Patriots, a rematch.
Saints are good enough on offense to put up points but Bears are capable of getting the crucial stops, even if they give up over 150 yards on the ground to McAlister and Bush. Saints on the other hand, depend on their offense to put up points. Bears just have to make sure not to give up the big plays like the 5 yard pass to Bush going 60 when it should have gone at most 8. Plus it's the dome team coming out to cold weather scenario.
In the other game, until Manning actually beats Brady in a big game, you can't go with the Colts. In the earlier regular season game which the Colts won 27-20, Pats had a lot of injuries and Brady threw 4 picks. As long as Brady doesn't do that again, Pats should be okay. Plus Dillon and Barber eventually wear out the Colts resurgent defense.
But really it wouldn't be completely shocking if the games went the other way.

So it was sound when he went for it on 4th & long in the first quarter instead of trying a 48 yard field goal? It was sound to waste a timeout in the fourth quarter when it was an obvious fumble by the San Diego player? Marty's teams always self-destruct in the playoffs, and it's not a coincidence. You just don't see players on Bellichick coached teams headbutting the opposition and giving away great field position.bkrich83 wrote:Nor does it have anything to do with this game.Feanor wrote:5-13 isn't a fluke.
I can see him going ultra-conservative in some of the other games. But that wasn't the case in this game. The gameplan, and the game management was sound.

If the Saints win I will not watch or listen to a thing concerning the Superbowl. Not because I am a Bears fan, I just can't stomach 2 weeks of listening to how everyone should be happy for the Saints, the City etc etc.
This is no way means I don't care about what happened to the people in N'Orleans, I did what I could to help out when it happened. I just can't hear the media turn this into something more then it is for 2 weeks.

Considering the first words out of Joe Buck's mouth after that game-winning FG were "How LONG these Bear fans have waited for this!" I'd rather listen to the New Orleans stuff.Danimal wrote:If the Saints win I will not watch or listen to a thing concerning the Superbowl. Nothing against all you Chicago guys here but I'm sick of hearing about how long Chicago fans have waited. We just went through all this with the White Sox. Did everybody just forget those 6 world championships the Bulls won? And heck, it's ONLY been 21 years for the Bears. Chicago fans don't know what a long wait is.
(Yeah, I'm bitter)

Well there is a pretty good chance you'll get you wish. then you'll get such classic coverage on how Joe Horn is a changed man, how this Saints team went through what no other team has by playing all road games last year (not true btw, but lets not let facts f*** up the sympathy) About how a city is rebuilding, how the super dome was used as a safe haven for people who couldn't (or were too stupid) leave the city...it will go on and on and on.lexbur wrote: Considering the first words out of Joe Buck's mouth after that game-winning FG were "How LONG these Bear fans have waited for this!" Yeah I'd much rather hear that then the one time Joe Buck said something stupid.

Well, I guess were screwed either way. It's just the nature of the Super Bowl. By the time those two weeks are over and the media's rehashed every story ten times over, you're gonna be sick of hearing about whoever's there. It's just more tolerable if your team's involved.Danimal wrote:Well there is a pretty good chance you'll get you wish. then you'll get such classic coverage on how Joe Horn is a changed man, how this Saints team went through what no other team has by playing all road games last year (not true btw, but lets not let facts f*** up the sympathy) About how a city is rebuilding, how the super dome was used as a safe haven for people who couldn't (or were too stupid) leave the city...it will go on and on and on.

Remember last year, the whole Jerome Bettis being from Detroit thing? LOL! I just hope none of the Bears OR Saints grew up in Miami.

The WS championship was like eating glass to some of us, not a reason to celebrate.lexbur wrote:Nothing against all you Chicago guys here but I'm sick of hearing about how long Chicago fans have waited. Chicago is a Bears town. The Cubs and White Sox divide the city, the Bulls will never grab us the same way after Jordan, but we all stand behind the Bears. And 21 years ago is too long ago for it to resonate with a lot of us. I was 8 years old; it could have been 1885 as far as I'm concerned.
But I will give it to you. Cleveland has had a pretty torturous sports history.
Great pre-game breakdown of the games on Football Outsiders. Here's the NFC link:

In the first half, I thought the weather was going to be a factor, but in the second half the Saints showed that they could move the ball no matter what weather. The Bears just took control toward the end of the drive when the Saints missed the FG. Grossman made the plays he needed to make and the Bears ran the ball very well.
When it was 9-0 and Jones took himself out of the game at the two minute warning, I knew that he would be back in the game after the commercial break. Benson did a good job earlier in the game, but I suspected that the Bears would count on Jones to get in the end zone.
As for how long it has been since the Bears won the SB, s***, I was in graduate school and i ain't that frigging old. We are not talking about the Cubs here.

I have been harping on the fact that the D needed to step up, but even I didn't expect a performance that good. I was most happy about the fact that Rivera used some creative blitz packages in the first quarter to give some help to the D-line. I think that forced Brees' hand a bit in the early going.
I don't remember the last time I saw a RB take the ball on every play (8 plays in a row!) for a TD drive. Beautiful!!
I still can't f***in believe it!!!

100% agree. This was the sole reason I was rooting for Chicago. Congratulations!Danimal wrote:If the Saints win I will not watch or listen to a thing concerning the Superbowl.
