This is what I didn't like last year. Poor camera angle from the pitching angle to the outfielders.
Pitchers seemed to fatigue quite fast even though your name was R. Johnson. Ditto for the bench. So if you had a no-hitter thru five innings, chances were that you wouldn't last the whole game or that you would lose the SO inevitably. Not enough walks.
The speed of the pitches were just non- existent even at 100%. A poor framerate that not even a patch could fix, especially online. It took awhile to finish a nine innings game.
Some players looked horrible.
Having said that, I pre-ordered mine for the PS3, keeping hopes that things will indeed improve. Until the Show comes thru...

I'm feeling totally opposite after watching the new vids. There are a couple lil' skips in animations here and there but nothing too bad. The pitches coming towards the plate in the batter (offensive mode) look really tight, the kind that look like they'll make those critical at bats in late innings really exciting. Hit variety is nice. The replays are cool and the shaky camera stuff (more realistic) also add a lot... this game is LOOKING incredible. Let's see how it plays:)Diablo25 wrote:The videos actually disappointed me. I saw a few game play flaws that concern me. I'm still anxious to give the game a go but those vids cooled me off a bit. Too many little things bugged me.
Although it's nice to have the pitching camera angle, I still favour the catcher's view for both pitching and batting. I didn't like seeeing Zito doing a ballet dance and throwing out a runner with his right hand while facing the outfielders. Unrealistic. I don't mind the commentary at all, while not at par with the show it captives the action well. After watching the videos, I think it'll still take longer to finish a nine inning game than The Show. Much better framerate than last year's version.
I was pleased with the pitching and batting but some of the fielding animations, at least in the outfield, are what disturbed me - slightly. Lets be honest, it was just a few short clips so I'm not hitting the panic button. I guess we will know soon enough.macsomjrr wrote:I'm feeling totally opposite after watching the new vids. Definitly too small for me to really get a feel for the game, but I'm with Diablo25. There are some things which I don't like... that HR to LF on an inside fastball looked goofy to me and the outfield looks really small from the batting view behind the plate.
Those are the first videos where my expectations are now lower after watching them. We'll soon see though. I think the demo will tell us alot about this one.

It's too hard to get an exact feel, but I noticed the smaller OF's which I think the game has had forever. I loved 2K4, and the fields looked small there too.
I still think you can't make a judgement until you play it. Someone said there are no walks, but whoever was playing the game had at least 2 at-bats where they could have drawn a walk if they were patient.
Won't really know until we actually play it.

Wow...I came away very impressed by those videos. I guess I'm just really itching for next gen baseball so I can live with some of the issues you guys have mentioned. I can't go back to playing the Show on PS2 and PS3 isn't an option at this point so maybe I'm looking at MLB 2K7 through rose-colored glasses.
- the swing animations look worlds better than any I've seen from the 2K series
- the pitch speeds and movements look realistic
- the result of the ball off the bat looked spot on for the most part, except for that opposite field HR by...Ray Durham??
- that Albert Pujols AB where he took Zito to 3-2 looked just like a real game. All his mannerisms between pitches were perfect
- the catcher actually moves inside and out to present a target on the corners. I don't think I've ever seen that in a baseball game before
- even at such a low resolution the game sure looks pretty
It looks to me like it's a major step in the right direction for the series. I know the Show will be a better resprentation of MLB baseball but maybe it won't be a one-horse race for long. I've got my fingers crossed cause this game is a day-one, no-doubt-about-it purchase for me.

Mets vs Yankees POTD:

These videos really show the game off much better than the Cards - Giants ones do. The double by Wright was great as is the dynamic lighting as the game progresses.
I want to see this game in person!

I'd bet that the demo will probably be released right in early March, as that's when the game was supposed to have been released, not that there's a big difference between the release date now, and then.
I'm not a huge baseball game fan, but there's something about this title that makes me want to play it. I was going to play MVP last year, but the whole college thing turned me off, especially being from Canada and not getting much college baseball exposure. I didn't even bother with MLB, because it was generally panned here, as well as all of the bugs (although that never stops me from playing Kush's NHL series).
My purchases for the next little while look like: MLB and GH2 (360). My gaming budget is somewhat limited.
