Yeah, that's funny. I just sat there going "what the hell? OK...wait, I'm dying. Why am I dying? Oh..fabulous. Somebody's watching. They're watching me look like an idiot".
Not sure how much I'll use it, but it's certainly a pretty funny concept. I DID get better, for the record! Knocked off one of those medium-level keeps and took down a white whale and a killer whale before I shut down the stream haha
I haven't seen anything thus far to make me get that 'oh, I gotta get that-I gotta get that NOW' feeling at all. I DO want to play Ryse when it appears, but I'd gladly play it on my current system if they made it for it. As it stands, there's just not one system seller I've seen.
Not going to embed the video but the website Tested ran some tests on SSD, Hybrid and the regular hard drive in the PS4. Turns out the Hybrid drives are a bargain and definitely recommended. SSD and Hybrids are pretty close in performance (both significantly faster than the stock drive), so it makes perfect sense to pick up a 1TB drive for around $110, than a standard 1TB 7200rpm drive for $90.

So pretty much as expected. It's a media machine that plays games. Can't wait to try it really even tho I refuse to watch live tv outside of sports. No DVR functionality makes it a non starter.
My 2 takeaways from the Polygon and Verge reviews:
1. To my surprise, the magic of the snapping mechanic works. I thought there was no chance of this when it was demonstrated. This excites me a great deal.
2. Polygon's brief summary of the improvements to XBL has me pumped as well. XBL itself is more important than any launch title, IMO.
Overall the very short summary from Verge, "like the 360, only better" is more than good enough to make me anxious to get it hooked up.

Absolutely. But the main takeaway I got is that everything outside of the games/xbox live is half baked and needs some refinement. To be expected of course...but just makes me want to wait a bit even though I've got one coming Friday. Forza 5 might be enough to make me keep it though. We shall see. Excited to see how it turns out. I'm liking the PS4 more and more everyday (even though the UI still sucks)...so I'm fairly confident it isn't going anywhere.
Ahhh and Harmony Remotes...the AAA of univeral remotes. Step your game up Rob. URC for life.

Dude, I'm taking my Harmony 550 out first if we have a house fire. Simple. Nothing superfluous. Durable as hell. Three kids and I have dropped this thing so many times that I've lost count and it just keeps on tickin'.
Relieved to see some first-hand experience with the XB1 from someone who is running my setup (DTV/Onkyo receiver) here:

Looks like I made the morning cut, so I should have the XB1 this weekend.
