It was 9, but who's counting? Maybe they all got inspired by that classic jersey that M. Dionne wore so well.

With everyone finally healthy last night, 'Nucks did win. But they just can't shake off the injuries. The God's are definitely not with them this season as B. Sutter who recently came back from hernia surgery got his jaw broken while A. Edler broke his foot while blocking a shot. With both out for a month, I am not saying let's tank from here on but perhaps bring some more young guys to help them further develop in the NHL.

Still very early, the key mark to judge where your team is heading is around the 20-25 games.
Spoken like a prophet. They even sucked at 20 or 25 games, but shortly after that, they started figuring it out. At least the last month or two has the Ducks playing hockey like I'm used to seeing. For about 1/3 of the season it seemed like they were going to continue to flounder around from game to game.

I feel like a spoiled Patriots fan in the NFL. Success is expected, not hoped for...

Last year I nerded it up and made a formula to rank NHL teams by goal difference, PK, save percentage and 5v5 Corsi % because those are the best predictors of playoff performance the last several years. When I ran the test on Jan 1 this season, the Ducks were the 5th best team in the NHL despite a lousy W-L at the time. I showed it to a friend and he was like what's up with the Ducks being ranked so high?

Their 5v5 Corsi and PK is actually much better this season than last year, and their goal difference is nearly the same. Seems that they and the Kings are easily the best teams in a terrible division.

Indeed. Never doubted the Ducks despite their terrible start and people calling for Boudreau's head. In fact I always had them on top in the west followed by the Hawks and Kings in that order. LA need more depth in D while the Ducks need solid goaltending to be top of the west.

Don't forget San Jose.. that team always scares me.

When Petro gets back for the Blues, I really hope Hitch sits Gunnarsson and keeps Edmunson and Bourtuzzo in the lineup. You need players who can hit and those two have been playing great hockey. The same with Elliott in goal.. Allen is our future, but this season belongs to Elliott right now.

Although mathematically still alive for a chance at the wildcard, Canucks' season has gone to the dogs since January. With all the injuries this season along the debut of 6 rookies, it's been growing pains to say the least. My only complain though was the inability to move some assets during trade deadline a couple of weeks ago, in order to get some picks to continue with the build. Guys like Hamhuis and Vrbata may walk for nothing in July. So it's time to play more kids, and they just signed Nikita Tryamkin whom they drafted back in 2014 and just finished playing in the KHL.

This guy is huge. Z. Chara size but can skate even better. He's 6'8, 243 pounds. In a season full of frustrations, I look forward to watching "The freak".

San Jose-LA was as physical game as I've seen so far during the regular season. Both big teams just pounded at each other as if it was the playoffs. I am sure none of the CA teams would want to face each other in the first round but there's that certain possibility. Sharks look ready for the dance, the question for them is who is going to start in the playoffs. Jones or Reimer. Quick had some sick saves despite the loss.

The vicious slash from Duncan Keith to Coyle will not go unnoticed in the league. The intent to retaliate and injure was obvious. A miracle the Minny D-man just got his nose clipped. Hopefully it will be a double digit suspension which would mean #2 missing some early playoff action.

That slash has got to be 10 games. of course, they'll appeal and get it down to 5.

and is anybody else seeing a guy get leveled legally and then have his teammates fly over and start fighting? such BS. if it is clean and no penalty is assessed and a player instigates a fight it should be an automatic 5 game suspension.

THIS. In boldface and klieg lights. You f*cking nailed it, Dan.

My interest in the NHL has waned for these very reasons.

One, the NHL's player discipline is a joke. The league almost encourages this Neanderthal behavior with its toothless punishment. Dennis Wideman leveled a LINESMAN, injuring him for the rest of the season, and got 20 games. Adam Silver would have banned an NBA player for a season if that happened in the Association.

Two, the "revenge" culture in the NHL is comical. Every legal, hard hit must immediately be answered with a fight, dust-up or cheap shot. Just take a f*cking number and nail that guy cleanly on the next shift or later in the game. It's ridiculous.

That "revenge" culture is taught at a very early age. My 11-year-old son played youth hockey for seven years, and he and his teammates were encouraged to "stand up" for their teammates, which is hockey-speak for taking liberties with anyone who touches one of your teammates, legally or illegally.

I'm glad my kid switched to basketball this winter. Much less aggro and far fewer cave dwellers and mouth breathers among the parents in the stands.

Not surprising the cheap shot was from a Blackhawks player. Hope he gets 10 games which would carry into the playoffs.

Not his first time. A slasher to J. Carter a few years back, the unintentuionally on purpose cheap elbow to D. Sedin's head in 2011, etc.

Awesome win by my Flyers tonight. Down 1-0 early in the 3rd they tie it and then win it in a shootout after killing a 4-3 PP for the Caps in OT. Extremely excited at how the Flyers are playing in the playoff stretch.

Ducks have me all screwed up this season. They start out completely sluggish and look like one of the worst teams in the league, then become the hottest team in the NHL for a while. Then they take 1st place in the Pacific for like..a day, and then proceed to lose something like 4 of 5 games. Of course that means that they'll then rip off a bunch more, and after last night, took 1st place in the Pacific again.

That game last night was insane. Perry scored 57 seconds into the game, and 15 of Anaheim's 18 skaters had at least one point against Calgary. 8O Poor Hiller looked as rusty as he had to be, and when you give up 3 goals on the first 5 shots and get yanked...well, not a good night.

Previous seasons I just expected the Ducks to do well in the playoffs...at least advancing once or twice. This year, they could get swept in the first round, or they could win the Cup. Such a wild season (and sport).

Six games for Keith. He misses ONE playoff game. What a joke. Brendan Shanahan's NHL Wheel of Justice is an arbitrary carnival game.
