I would not want to play that Jets team in the first round at all. I think I'd also rather see my Blues play Chicago instead of Minnesota. Blues also expected to have Robby Fabbri and Ivan Barbashev available for the playoffs once their junior seasons end. They won't play unless there are injuries but that is some very nice depth to have sitting in the pressbox. Here's to hoping that 2015 is the Blues year....we are way overdue!

I prefer the match up we have with the Wild, let Nashville and Chicago beat them selves up a bit. :)

I'm with you though, we are sooooo overdue!

Well, the hometown Sens finish off one of the greatest turnarounds in NHL history and face a first round matchup against the Habs.

Oh, wait, the Sens record vs. the Habs is 3-1 this year.

Now, if we can just keep Subban from diving like an Olympic champ, and if the Hamburgerlar stays the real deal!

Almost makes up for the travesty of my real favourite team, the Edmonton Mactavishsucks.........

Well they did do well against your team in regular season and what a performance these guys have done for the past 20+ games. Along the Jets they've been playing already playoffs hockey and with the hot Hamburglar, what a Cinderella story it's been for OTT.

Still besides Price, the rest of the team need to play better especially if Paccioretty is not ready.

Ah, the best time of the year is coming up...

This is it baby!

The Habs cannot score. They won that division due to the play of one man. THAT IS NOT ENOUGH...Price maybe the better goalie over a career and this season but for the today its the man playing goal for Ottawa. f***in amazing run!

The Habs have been an epic fail on offense all season and their only real threat is iffy.

f*** IT!!!!!!!!! LETS GO HABS!!!!!!!!!! GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing about this year's first round of playoffs games is that there's going to be no upsets. None. Look at the match ups, all evenly paired. In the West I would hate to face teams like Minny and the Jets, while WAS can go far in the East. Still, the Rangers should be the favorites to reach the finals.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

Rangers vs Penguins: NY kept on winning even when King Lundqvist was hurt. They are deep, they are fast and could repeat again going all the way to the finals. Pens are a bit banged up in the blue line and barely made it by winning the last game of the season. Coach V's team should advance in 5.

Habs vs Senators: What a Cinderella story this has been for OTT. There will be a lot of emotions for the players after the passing of one of their assistant coaches and their GM still battling cancer. They have one of the hottest line in hockey now with rookie M. Stone. This should go long as ultimately the Hart and Vezina Carey Price should make the final difference. It's going to be a battle with MON struggling to score while OTT also needs to depend more on the other 3 lines. The Hamburglar may still a couple of games but in the end it's the Habs in 7.

Lightning vs Wings: TPA has more depth throughout their lineup while DET can't keep relying on the vets duo of Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Goaltending is a big issue too for coach Babcock and in the end Stevie Y's team should advance in 6.

Capitals vs Isles: Which Halak will show up for NYI? Special teams will make the difference here. Simple: Caps have a lethal PP while the Isles suck at the PK. It's Ovechkin's time to shine. WAS in 6.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

Ducks vs Jets: I really look forward to this series as I think that ANA will have their hands full with the Jets. WIN is a big, quick team with all their main players back from injury and they have one of the hottest goalies in Pavelec. I think Jets can win this series in 7 physical games. Wait until you hear the barn roar at the Peg.

Blues vs Wild: Blues have depth except between the pipes and the Wild have been consistently hot since the AS game running with Dubnyk who made a huge difference for the team and one of the reasons hey made it in the post season. Winner of this series could go all the way to the finals. Picking the Wild in 7.

Preds vs Hawks: I surely hope that CHI is not rushing Kane into action. Team has struggled to score without him but what a difference he'll make if he's 100% healthy. Preds have been very good under Adams possible winner coach P. Laviolette but struggled lately. When you give up a good defense prospect along a 1st rounder for A. Vermette and he's not going to even dress up in the first game, something tells me that maybe someone didn't do the proper homework, although at the time of Kane's injury, he looked like a right fit. With experience on their side, I am going with CHI in 7.

Canucks vs Flames: Every time these two Canadian teams meet in the playoffs, is a war. Here's a little stat I found out. The last four times they met in the playoffs, the winner of the series went all the way to play for Lord Stanley. At the beginning of the year if you asked me whether VAN would make the playoffs after a disastrous year with J. Tortorella, my answer would have been a maybe to a "NO'. Remember, this is a team in transition with a good mix of veterans and youth. But under new coach Willie D and a bunch of youths they overachieved finishing second behind the Ducks in their division while overcoming a rash of injuries during the season. A resilient group to say the least but I don't think they can handle the Flames so easily. The comeback kids of the third period are well coached under B. Hartley (another strong candidate for the J. Adams) and strongly beat the Kings in the end for the final spot. With young kids like Monahan, and Johnny 'Hockey' Gaudreau you guys in the East will be delighted to watch these two kids play who along J. Hurdler form one of the better lines in Hockey today.

Canucks will probably start with their back up goalie Eddie Lack who's been rock solid replacing Miller and it's the only spot where I wonder if the whole playoffs experience will be too much for him. Still, I think this is going to be tough for VAN who ultimately will take care of the pesky Flames in 7.

Let the playoffs begin...

Interesting write up Naples and after reading 10s predictions I feel even more compelled to pick.

Using Naples template..Thx..I have....

NYR v PIT. NYR in six. I hope not. I want the Pens in this one.
MTL v OTT. OTT in five. Again I hope not.
WSH v NYI. NYI in seven. Hard to believe in a new Caps.
TB v DET. TB in six. Stevie Y taking down his own blood.

ANA v WPG. ANA in five. Not feeling the Jets.
STL v MIN. Min in 6. Have never felt the Blues.
VAN v CGY. VAN in 7. CGY a year away.
NSH v CHI. CHI in 6. First step on the road to a cup.

I am going with a CHI over TB in the finals but we will see...The NHL playoffs are the hardest of the major sports to predict.

Bring on the games!

GO HABS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the record, the Hawks DID NOT celebrate like they won the cup after the double ot win in game 1 in the first round of the Stanley Cup Finals.

And just as I was predicting above, the pesky Flames won't just burn easily. A last minute slapper killed the 'Nucks in what was a pretty even game. Eddie Lack will bounce back after the gimme as he did the whole season when Miller was injured. But another softy and your leash will be much shorter.

Hey coach Wilie D, you gotta play the twins more especially with the game tied thanks to a pizza delivery by S. Weber. The D needs to be tighter, both teams are pretty evenly matched.

I'm sorry but Subban is the piece of s*** here, not Stone. WTF was Subban doing? Aside from being a d*****? OH yeah. throwing a temper tantrum on the ice like a little b*tch when the ref calls a penalty after he f***in two hands a guy in the arm????????

And before I get accused of homerism (remember, at heart I"m an Oilers fan) if the roles were reversed I would admit it was a dirty play by whatever Sens did it.

And this was AFTER d*****bag Subban highsticked Pageau in the HEAD going for a puck and getting away with that one? And Eller trying to break Zibanajad's jaw with a butt end?

The refs lost control of that game for sure. I will be very interested what happens tomorrow, and hope Gallagher continues to get rag dolled by Methot in front of the net.

Now that the venting is done, I give credit to Montreal as they completely shut the Sens down after they took the lead, and the grinders contributed to the cause (Flynn with 3 points? WTF?) So well deserved win.

I just think it's a shame Subban isn't suspended at least 1 or two games considering Stone is now most likely out for the series.
