I was on the verge of bailing on this game, but the new mode sounds pretty fun.

My kids and their guest are commandeering the theater room. So if I am on it's going to be like 11pm or something.

Well, I've been out of town the last couple days, so we'll have to see how it plays out for me as well. But if I'm on, I'll look for whomever wants to give it a go.

I'll think about it. I may just play college football or good ol ME3 MP since I'm not sure I'm ready to buy the DLC, but I don't know. I've yet to even see guerilla mode in any map, and I haven't played GR all that often, so I'm not champing at the bit for DLC.
Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
That's because you don't have THIS DLC...Zeppo wrote:I'll think about it. I may just play college football or good ol ME3 MP since I'm not sure I'm ready to buy the DLC, but I don't know. Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I was hoping to play some last night, but didn't see anyone online. Ended up playing some singleplayer, which I"m really enjoying.
I'd be happy to buy the DLC if there is interest. It's just been a real struggle to get friends together on live. Since the game released only one night did I have nearly a full room. Rest of the times only a couple of guys show up.

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I have played this post-olympics for the last several nights, and have had a ball. Found some great random rooms, and man, the new mode just gets better and better. You knuckledraggers with ADD who are talking about trading it for the annual Madden update are crazy.
Are there still some sane people in this place? Let me know here. I'm going to fire up poker nights again post-Sunday night.

Still ahve it and love it! Just can't really predict my playing time with the new baby.
Side note- I have also had a re-kindling love for BF3 lately. Downloaded the Close Quarters map pack and actually really dig it! It's pretty incredible actually. Conquest Domination mode with those maps is pretty intense.

Trust me, I know that world well. (BTW, the kiddo is GORGEOUS-looks like momma, thankfully! lol). BF3 isn't gonna happen for me, though, because I got rid of it, and wouldn't buy it back at the price it still is. Doesn't matter, though, because I absolutely love GR:FS more every time I play it (and PK can say what he wants, he loved it too, he's just got adult ADD
)

I still have it. I don't recall the last time I traded a game in so you can count on me but my play time lately has been zero. With work, my site and working on a possible kickstarter project I've turned on my 360 once in the last week.

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
This weekend I got into some good games with randoms playing Sabateur. My team was communicating (mostly in a good way), working together and winning.
Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Had some of that, too, mike. Hell, I worked with one team that communicated so well, I did something I almost never do-I added randoms to my friend list. I'm honestly amazed at the level of ship jumping around here in more recent days. GR is my shooter-and will be-until at least Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and stands a better than good chance of continuing to spin even after Warfighter is released. It's just that damned good. (You absolutely MUST get the DLC-that mode is awesome, and so are all the maps).

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
No, I never really loved it. It's a good game. But GR:FS is nowhere near as good as the good, old-fashioned GR games because it has been infected with COD-itis, just like nearly every other recent military shooter. Tight confines, too many gadgets. And it's a joke that I need to spend an extra $10 just to get a map that somewhat resembles an old-fashioned GR map.Teal wrote:Trust me, I know that world well. I never touched this game other than the infrequent times I played with you guys. Too much of a crapshoot with randoms, and the single-player mode sucks. Honestly, my kids and I are having WAY more fun with Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway than GR:FS.

This game has no resemblance whatsoever to COD, dude. That's laughable...

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Like hell it doesn't, at least without the DLC. Tight maps, emphasis on close-quarters combat in urban environments. That's a hell of a lot closer, environment-wise, to COD than the original Ghost Recon or Ghost Recon: Island Thunder. It's fine that you're digging GR:FS, but you're blind to the truth if you can't see the similarities to the urban combat environments of GR:FS and COD.Teal wrote:This game has no resemblance whatsoever to COD, dude. GR:FS requires more tactics than any COD game, and that's a good thing. But it's still not nearly as tactical as GR or GR:IT. That's why I loved OFP:RR so much -- it had the GR and GR:IT mojo, big time. Like you, though, I wish it had adversarial multiplayer modes.
Still, if you think GR:FS is the close, spiritual successor of GR and GR:IT, you clearly haven't played those games in a long, long time. GR:FS is a solid tactical game, with lineage to the early GR games, that is played in very COD-like environments in its stock form. As I said, it's bullsh*t that I'm asked to fork out $10 to play on maps that even closely resemble the brilliance of the original maps.
I'm not going to do it, either.

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
I don't think there's any question that the new GR is s totally different game from the original versions. But I do think it tried as hard as it could to stick to something that could resemble a need for strategic gameplay where great teamwork and communication win. I'm not totally convinced either that the smaller map size and gadgets are there to appeal to the COD crowd. I think it was a decision made so they could incorporate things like the AMAZING cover system, enemy hacking, bomb gameplay modes, etc... If we had been getting the same old GR year after year we;d be complaining about that. This was a fresh approach and one that I think was brave for them.
Personally, I think owning both BF3 and GR:FS are great to balance out each other. I have BF3 for the HUGE, epic battles and eye popping graphics where I can maybe get into a semi-decent squad but will mainly be a lone wolf and can have a good time. And I have GR:FS for much smaller scale, strategic, cooperative gameplay (not that dissimilar from a Splinter Cell game) where I can actually have a private match if I'd like.
I am STILL able to find really solid random matches with GR which has not been the case for any shooter since the old, old days.

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Agree with your points, Spooky. A voice of reason between the polar emotions of Teal and me.
Here's the reason why I'm trading GR:FS: I can only remember one night that I played it on XBL when I didn't want to stop. Every other night left me with just a "meh" feeling.
There were many nights after playing BF3 when I wanted to jam an ice pick through my scrotum. I was so pissed. There were some nights when I was elated because I improved and had a great time. BF3 evoked emotion from me. GR:FS never did that.
I sincerely hope you cats continue to enjoy GR:FS for a long, long time.

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Played some last night and found out its double XP this weekend.
I'm still enjoying this, even against randoms. The Sabateur mode reminds me very much of the RB6 Retrieval mode, one of my all time favorites.

Re: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
Me too. I'm going to get the new mission DLC next week, too. It sounds like old school GR style.
