The Tribe had sold 19,000 tickets to Sunday's game. When it became official Strasburg was pitching they sold 8,000 more, and of course that doesn't include all the walkups they'll get (like me). I'd love to see the Tribe light him up, maybe Santana have a big debut and steal some of his thunder, but I'm not holding my breath.
Should be a fun weekend!

Yeah, Carlos had a nice debut weekend. He’s going to be fun to watch, a real high-energy guy. Once on a called strike-three he popped out of his crouch and was halfway back to the dugout before the ump even made the call, it was funny, only the the batter and umpire standing there looking at each other.snaz16 wrote: I thought Carlos was already inducted in the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame"![]()
He even did well against Strasburg yesterday, a hard lineout to left, a walk and a single. Strasburg looked awesome in person, but too bad the Tribe couldn’t have put on a better show with everyone watching. They finally get a decent crowd and then tank it bad in front of them. Oh well.
Santana and Strasburg will probably be battery mates with the Yankees before long, so let’s enjoy watching them now.

Hey 10s...have fun with Yunel Escobar. Ugh...no more frustrating player in all of baseball. Sooooo talented, but just doesn't seem to give a sh*t. I'll take Alex Gonzalez for him any day of the week right now.
And Jo Jo Reyes, probably the biggest disappointment in the Braves farm system over the years. Jo Jo was the next big thing, but he never seemed to figure it out in the Show. He is what is known as a Quadruple A pitcher...
I guess Toronto is just hoping Yunel figures it out...because he certainly wasn't making any friends in the Braves clubhouse or of their fans.

No...he needs to grow up. If you can't play for Bobby Cox, YOU are the issue. Scenery has nothing to do with it. After Saturday nights game against the Mets I sent my dad and one of my friends a four word text message. Say goodbye to Yunel. The game was the epitome of Escobar...letting pop ups drop, almost getting Troy killed and dogging a double play turn. I've seen the same sh*t for three years...it's just that he hasn't hit this year. No reason to keep him around and apparently the Braves front office agreed.Diablo25 wrote:Escobar definitely needed a change of scenery.
I don't disagree. My point is a change of scenery may help foster that. I've never been an Escobar fan but maybe Toronto will be the wake up call he needs. Cito Gaston could be the guy to get him going.dbdynsty25 wrote:No...he needs to grow up.Diablo25 wrote:Escobar definitely needed a change of scenery.

Great move by Braves getting Alex Gonzalez. I loved him with the Marlins when they won. Just a solid, dependable player and can give you clutch hits when needed. I still can't believe how good the Braves are doing so far. I keep waiting for it to blow updbdynsty25 wrote:Hey 10s...have fun with Yunel Escobar. My first reaction was what the F**K? I guess we gave up on the season and while a .500 record in one of the toughest division in the league that includes the damn Yankees, Bosox and Rays ain't too shabby, I am worried about Escobar's attitude. Sure he's younger than Gonzalez and has more upside while the former Jay is having a great year so far. Think the Braves can afford him after the season is over?dbdynsty25 wrote:Hey 10s...have fun with Yunel Escobar. Ugh...no more frustrating player in all of baseball. I am more concerned about letting Collins go. Despite his size, I think he's going to be a stud in the league. Reyes has a good fastball, decent curveball but will he stick with the big guys?

Gonzalez is controlled through next year...club option for 2.5 million, so yeah, the Braves can afford him because that's likely what Escobar would have gotten thru arbitration this offseason. I'm pretty sure we're going to start hearing some stories about how much of a whiney b*tch Yunel was..apparently he had zero friends on the Braves. Check this article by one of the beat writers:10spro wrote:My first reaction was what the F**K? And Reyes is not good at all...he was getting lit up in AAA last I checked. I had high hopes for him...FOUR YEARS AGO. Now he's nothing and he never will be anything. I promise. The only good thing is he's a lefty. I guess.
Re: MLB Season 2010
Maybe a change of scene is really what Escobar needed. Liked what I've seen so far, yesterday he hit his first career grand salami, he's definitely got more flash than Gonzo but can be more consistent from his days in ATL, is the question.

But remember, he had 4RBis in his first game this season...had 15 in the 70+ after that. And zero home runs. So don't get too excited.

Heading to the Phils Rocks game tomorrow. Gonna tailgate with a bunch of my college teammates in FDR Park before the game. That will be more entertaining than the game. Jimenez is throwing for the Rockies...LOSS.

Re: MLB Season 2010
Ugh. It's sad that the Braves are "upgrading" when adding that guy to the outfield. The left and center field positions have been a black hole all year. How has this team won 59 games already? Unreal. I really wish the Braves had gotten Ludwick instead...they need a righty more than another lefty. Troy Glaus has fallen off the face of the earth and their stud 1B prospect is another lefty (Freddie Freeman). Gonna be interesting.sportdan30 wrote:Gonna miss you Ryan Ludwick....good luck in San Diego.![]()

Re: MLB Season 2010
Glaus has been plagued by injuries in the last couple of years, it was a good riddance from the Jays.
Speaking of which, the bats finally slowed down a bit tonight losing to the Indians, geez J. Bautista didn't have a HR.

Re: MLB Season 2010
Apparently Santana still hasn't learned to NOT stand in front of home plate. Nothing like having your leg snapped in half.
Re: MLB Season 2010
Jays hit 6 doubles in the fifth inning to clip the Yankees in NY as ARod continues to search for his 600 homers.

They're saying it looked worse than it is, whatever that means. The fact that his shoe came off may have saved his knee.10spro wrote:That was ugly.dbdynsty25 wrote:Apparently Santana still hasn't learned to NOT stand in front of home plate. Nothing like having your leg snapped in half.
Time to put that guy at first or DH. We can't have our top prospect getting beat up behind the plate like this. We need him to be in good shape and at the top of his game when we ship him off to the Yankees in a couple years.
