Tenessee Titans 17 - Washington Redskins 14
The Washngton Redskins fall to 2-2 with their second straight defeat to an AFC South opponent with a 17-14 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.
Jason Campbell threw two first half interceptions to former Eagle standout CB Assante Samuel to give the hosts the edge they needed to pull out the close victory. On both plays, the films revealed that there were open receivers elsewhere on the field, but Campbell rushed the throws and tried to force the ball to Santana Moss. The first interception made the score 14-0 Titans.

Assante Samuel takes the interception for the score, doubling the Titans' lead to 14-0 in the 2nd quarter.
Campell's second INT came with 4:29 remaining in the half and the Redskins threatening to score with a 2nd down and 14 from the Tennessee 17 yard line.

Assante Samuel with his second interception of Jason Campbell was able to snuff out the Redskins' best scoring opportunity of the first half.
The score at halftime was 14-0, Titans.
It wasn't until late in the 3rd quarter that Washington was able to get on the scoreboard. Thanks to a fumble by Titans HB Chris Johnson that was snagged out of the air by DeAngelo Hall, Jason Campbell started at the Titans 40 yard line and was able to put together a drive that ended with a QB scramble up the middle for the TD from 4 yards out, making the score 17-7 at the start of the 4th quarter.

DeAngelo Hall makes like an old Electric Football player getting that foam ball stuck through his hand on this zany fumble by Titans HB Chris Hall.

Jason Campbell finally gets the Redskins on the scoreboard with only 0:04 remaining in the 3rd quarter with this scramble for the TD.
The Redskins were able to get within 3 points thanks to a 5 yard TD pass to Ledell Betts, but the score came with only 1:56 remaining in the 4th quarter.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Redskins HB Ledell Betts catches the swing pass for a TD to get the Redskins within 3 just after the two-minute warning. Why no starters returned the field after the two-minute warning is anybody's guess.
The onside kick was caught by Brian Westbrook, and Donovan McNabb and Co. were able to get the first downs they needed to run out the clock.
The 2-2 Redskins now have a bye before facing the CPU Seahawks at home, while the 3-1 Titans travel to Jacksonville to face their CPU divisional punching bag.
Great game, Tmdba. Actually great 3 halves of football! It is nicer to have these longer games when I don't have the time pressure I face during the week a lot of times, because it really does allow a more realistic ebb and flow to the game. I was able to make adjustments on both sides of the ball but just couldn't create the breaks I needed. I'm still amazed Big Albert was able to get those two sacks at all, because McNabb is fast as all hell, and can get rid of that thing so darn fast.
I told you I wasn't up for doing much of a recap. This is me not doing much of a recap.
But that was a great battle all the way through, despite the lack of big plays from either team. A tough, close to the vest type of battle, just the way I like it! I just have to be more careful with that football. I just found that note I left myself from the two Eagles games last season: DON'T THROW AT SAMUEL! Eesh.
Great stuff and good luck the rest of the way!

Titans 17 Redskins 14
As they say in the movies the sequel is never as good as the original. . .
The Titans squeak out a winner in a tight defensive grind against the Skins. . .again, the game hinged on turnovers. . .clearly the pick-6 stands out as a back-breaker. . .but there is an interesting story behind the Titans’ fumble in the second half. . .we’ll get to that in the highlights. . .
The Redskins started with the ball, but had to punt. . .the Titans came back and put together a nice drive ending in a 2 Yard TD Run by Brian Westbrook. . .the bulk of the yardage was chewed up by what ended up being the largest play from scrimmage for the Titans this 34 yard reception by Westbrook:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Unfortunately for the Redskins, they didn’t check last season’s Eagles notes and Jason Campbell tried his luck with old nemesis Asante Samuel and lost:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
So, normally, I don’t bother with the redundant recaps, as Zeppo did such a great job, but I had some interesting issues with a new controller on Christmas Eve and my finger slipping and hitting the left trigger—which I learned was having the runner lateral the ball. . .
In the morning during my offline game. . .this move turned out lucky as Chris Johnson (traded Tommie Harris and a 1 for him) flipped the ball to Reggie Bush (FA signee). . .who ran for a 38 TD (the CPU Saints were pissed. . .I was shockingly amused):
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
In the game against Zeppo, this unintended move was disastrous and led to a very costly fumble:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Clearly, that took some momentum from the home team and filled the Redskins’ to the brim. . .as they quickly turned the short field into 7 points and a 17-7 deficit after this QB Draw by Jason Campbell:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Redskins tacked on another TD making it 17-14 with less than two minutes. . .an unsuccessful onside kick and a couple of first downs by the Titans sealed the Redskins fate though, and the Titans sneak out a tough win at home. . .now it's off to Jacksonville to ring in the new year by giving the CPU Jaguars a fine beating. . .the Redskins should do the same to the lowly Seahawks. . .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zeppo,
This indeed was a great game, although I still wonder what would have happened in our abbreviated attempt the day before. . .
I think it’s clear that as the league and the players mature, most of the player vs. player games are going to hinge on turnovers, and I think INTs are the worst because more often than not they’re returned a long way. . .
Best of luck in the NFC the rest of the way, I’ll try to help you out against Dallas and New York—the last two legs of my NFC East tour. . .
Thanks
-Todd

The Panthers new coaching staff has some revenge to exact from when they were with Dallas.

Raiders stay undefeated, blank Chargers 44-0
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Oakland Raiders defense once again dominated a game, this time manhandling the San Diego Chargers offense to the tune of 161 total offensive yards allowed and forcing 6 turnovers--all interceptions of QB Philip Rivers.
Oakland's offense gained 400 yards on the day, with most of the damage being done in a lightning-fast 28-0 explosion in the 1st quarter.
Rookie QB Dane Morrow was 9 of 12 for 187 yards and 2 TD's with a 156.3 rating, throwing both scores in the 1st quarter and then spending the remaining three handing off to Oakland's strong trio of tailbacks.
Darren McFadden was explosive in limited action, gaining 79 yards on 7 carries and a TD before leaving the game with broken ribs, which will sideline him for 2 weeks.
Michael Bush was the workhorse, toting the rock 25 times for 112 yards and a score in relief. When Bush needed a breather, Justin Fargas came in with 7 carries for 27 yards and a score. In all, Oakland pounded the Chargers with 44 carries for 213 yards and 3 TD's as a team.
Conversely, the Chargers offense was mistake-prone. Oakland defenders seemed to be everywhere on the field, swatting down attempted swing passes and intercepting anything thrown down the field.
Rivers was a dismal 9 of 32 for 113 yards and 6 picks, with a woeful 2.2 QB rating.
"Sometimes it felt like we had 12 men out there", SS Michael Huff was quoted after the game. "It seemed each call we made was a perfect counter to what they ran that snap. We'll take a little luck".
Indeed.
Huff picked off Rivers twice, matching MLB Kirk Morrison's two on the day. Nnamdi Asomugha and Thomas Howard also snared picks.
LaDainian Tomlinson did break off a nice carry in the second half, a 35 yarder that put the Chargers in potential scoring position. Rivers was picked off a few plays later, though. Tomlinson ended up with 8 carries for 48 yards.
In the end, Oakland (4-0) did what it's done for 4 games this season--strike quickly, build a lead, and then grind out a lot of carries afterward. They'll host the resurgent Texans (1-2) in week 5. San Diego (1-3) will travel to Denver next week in a rematch of the 34-31 barnburner in week 3.

GG, Mac. The Madden Gods just hated the Chargers in that one. Rivers was spraying them all over the field early and it just ended up snowballing. I didn't blame you at all for going for it from your own end in the 1st quarter so early (not that it would matter). The Bolts defense seemed to be just as problematic in that one. Just a head-scratcher.
Good luck the rest of the way, bro...and thanks for sticking it out with that one.

No time for highlights, I think Brando is grabbing some. The Broncos were able to overcome 3 first half interceptions and beat the Texans on a last second field goal 20-17.
Brando good game really enjoyed it even if you don't watch the Hawks

Broncos Overcome Four First-Half Turnovers to Beat Texans
DENVER - Denver quarterback Kelly James had to wonder if the football he was throwing was made of metal and the Texans defenders had magnets in their hands.
The Broncos rookie threw four first-half interceptions that led to 17 Houston points, but Denver used a bruising running game and a suffocating defense to come from behind and pull out a 20-17 win.
Things started off well for the Broncos, as they got on the board first when fullback Peyton Hills turned a safety pass to the flat into a 37-yard touchdown and a 7-0 Denver lead. After the teams exchanged interceptions, Denver drove down the field again in the second quarter and looked poised to score, until Houston linebacker Brian Cushing stopped the drive in dramatic fashion, snaring James's pass and returning it 96 yards for the score:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
A third interception, by cornerback Fred Bennett, set up a Kris Brown field goal and gave Houston a 10-7 lead. But James couldn't believe his eyes on the next turnover:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Defensive end Antonio Smith leapt into the air and snagged a screen pass intended for Denver running back Knowshon Moreno. After the interception, James and head coach Danimal had to be separated on the sideline when Coach Danimal threatened to not throw another pass during the game. Meanwhile, the Texans turned the fourth turnover into a touchdown, a seven-yard run by Steve Slaton:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Cooler heads prevailed on the Denver sideline, however, as James and Moreno moved the ball efficiently to set up a 25-yard field goal at the end of the half, cutting the lead to 17-10.
The turnovers overshadowed a stellar performance by the Broncos defense, which limited the Texans to a paltry 89 yards of total offense. The Denver front seven dominated the Houston offensive line all game, filling running lanes and sacking quarterback Matt Schaub six times.
In the third quarter, Denver took care of the ball and engineered a 14-play touchdown drive, kept alive when the Texans were called for roughing the kicker on a Denver field goal attempt. That led to a 13-yard touchdown run by Moreno, tying the game at 17. Moreno and the Denver offensive line took over the game in the second half, wearing down the Texans as Moreno finished with 146 yards on 29 carries.
After stopping two fourth-quarter Houston drives with third-down sacks, punt returner Champ Bailey gave Denver a short field after a 24-yard punt return with about three minutes left to play. Houston tried to keep the Broncos out of field goal range, but Moreno made a key 13-yard run to drive deep into Houston territory:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
That helped set up a 35-yard field goal attempt by Matt Praeter as time expired:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Broncos move to 4-0 and host the San Diego Chargers next, while the 1-3 Texans will travel to Oakland to face the powerhouse Raiders.

Great game, Danimal, and kudos for keeping your cool after a frustrating first half. You really dominated the game outside of the turnovers and you deserved to win. Sorry for not having any offensive highlights for you; both of your touchdown plays were cut off early.

The Panthers new coaching staff has some revenge to exact from when they were with Dallas.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.

Giants done in by a fumble returned by a fumble and an INT both returned for TDs in Dallas. Despite outgaining the Cowboys in total yards, the Giants fall by the wide margin of 28-3.
I've saved a couple of highlights that I will try to get up when I have a chance.
Good game, Badgun. You played a solid game and capitalized on mistakes. Catch you next time out.

You too man, 7-3 right before halftime and the turnover changed everything. 14-3 in the second half and you're still in it doing a good job shutting me down and then the other turnover TD. Two mistakes changed everything because you were able to move the ball well. Anyway, enjoyed it man and see you next time in the Meadowlands.GameSeven wrote:Giants done in by a fumble returned by a fumble and an INT both returned for TDs in Dallas.
