Very frustrating, yes. I seem to have a tiny bit better luck by going from the EA Sports site, but I don't know if it really matters at all.
I actually have a question for Danimal regarding the Waivers and how they work now that we have the FA points system. So, any time someone releases a player, he then goes through the waiver process, right? Or does that not start until after the season starts?
Do we have an order for the waivers claims at this stage? As a suggestion, I say we could use last year's real life standings to determine it. In future franchise seasons, of course, we'd have our draft order to go by.
I ask because as we sign FAs, we will invariably have to release players to make room for new players.
Are FA points necessary to sign players off of waivers? If so, it would only have to be the minimum of 1 point, because since it's waivers, no one else can bid if it's your turn, but do we have to use FA points for this or are waivers totally separate?

I really would like to know what part of my brain didn't think that EA would fuc& this up six ways from Sunday. This website nonsense is a serious problem. I think we may need to find alternative means for the FA process. Twitter maybe? We could create one account as the clearinghouse for the league and run the bids through that via @ replies? Just an idea. I have no faith that EA will provide a functional platform for the season.

At this time that site is so painful! It took me over an hour to see other peoples posts.

Yeah, it's FUBAR.
I agree with others that we should do the FA thing with a dedicated thread here at DSP, where we all know we can load the page when we hit the link.
However, I could never remember all the FA claims made thus far, and I also feel this is a case where Danimal himself has to make the call, so I'm not going to start that thread.
If we wanted to just start over, the issue for me is those two players whom Danimal brought in who are not DSP regulars. Well, only one has actually joined the league, and he did post here to say 'hello,' but those two plus Danimal's official blessing makes me reticent to start it up right away.
I would also add that the 24 hour rule is helping us, as I've had hit-or-miss connectivity to EA's franchise site, rather than complete failure 100% of the time. There really is a lot less urgency to fix this than those of us with outstanding claims tend to feel.
And Rob, what is this so-called 'twitter' you speak of?

Has anyone else noticed if their depth chart is all messed up when looking at it in the console? Jarius Norwood is not even in my RB rotation according to that depth chart. I have a FS starting at ROLB. And some other weird stuff. I haven't touched my roster yet...weird

I noticed the same thing. The depth chart was a disaster.TheTruth wrote:Has anyone else noticed if their depth chart is all messed up when looking at it in the console? Phew.
Thanks for taking the lead on this Zep, I was out with the family yesterday when I looked at 8am i saw 1 big.
Yes I didn't know that the message bioard would only hold so many messages so I guess we will have to use DSP thread.
Also we're not doing waiver anymore I axed it in favor of bidding. When someone releases someone they go into the pool for open bidding.
As for a penalty if someone goes over 10 points I say the bid doesn't count

And you're welcome. I just hope your friends who aren't regulars here get the message to switch here for FAs.
Wow, I stink (me, not the Patriots)
. I lost 28-7 to the Bills (CPU), after being up 7-0.
Also, there we no penalties called in the game.
Looks like I will be the "punching bag" of the league. Oh well....

What is his GT, cecilbturtle? Or has that changed again?
Meanwhile, the Redskins start the season with a heart breaking 21-20 loss at the Giants in a game that was a turnover festival in the first half. Despite Free Agent nickel back Fakhir Brown waiting to have his paperwork approved, the Skins decided to go ahead without him and start the game despite only 20 minutes remaining on the wire for the Free Agent bid. Even so, newly acquired WR Reggie Williams did suit up for his new team, and made at least one catch in the first half. He was wearing #11, however, which is the same number as 2nd year Redskin Devin Thomas, and while this wasn't as egregious a mistake as putting "Bettis" on the back of Ledell Betts's jersey, this gaff by the equipment staff would surely have resulted in some kind of penalty had this been a real life game. Silly, but as of now it's all fixed and Williams is set with #85.
After a stirring fly-over from the Thunderbirds of the USAF on this season opener, the first possession of the game began with a good run by Brandon Jacobs who refused to go down. But that play ended up with a fumble and the Redskins getting the turnover as Orapko picked up the loose ball. The Giants challenged the call, but after review the fumble ruling was upheld. With excellent field position, Campbell forced in a nice 3rd and goal throw from the 9 to Cooley for the score to make it 7-0 Redskins.
That lead didn't last long, though, as Eli drove his Giants down the field with ease for the tying score, mostly thanks to bruising running by Jacobs who was very hard to bring down. The big play was a 44yd throw to Nicks who broke one tackle and then was the beneficiary of some excellent blocking down field by his fellow receivers as he scampered in for the TD.
The final score of the 1st quarter came on a very poor throw by Cambpell that was picked off by the safety Philips, sitting as pretty as you please in the robber spot but somehow undetected by the QB as he waited for his TE Cooley to clear the Mike. The INT was returned for a 44yd TD to make the score at the end of one period 14-7 in favor of the home standing Giants.
The Redskins were able to tie the game before halftime on a nice long drive that ended with a Todd Collins TD throw to Mike Sellers in the flat. Collins was in for one play only for a shaken up Campbell who looked to be grabbing his kidney or his spleen as he trotted off, and the career backup ended up with the awesome passer rating of 143.8 that one gets for a line that says: 1 for 1, 1TD, 0INT, 9yds. Campbell turned out to be fine and returned to the game on the next Redskins possession.
Just before halftime, the Skins made a valiant stop of the Giants, and had plenty of time inside 2:00 to move the ball into scoring position. After some clutch throws from Campbell, the drive stalled out with a nice downfield toss to Moss to put the ball within FG range inside of :10 remaining. But Suisham sliced the kick despite getting full juice, and the 48yd (or thereabouts) FG attempt sailed wide right as time expired on the first half.
The second half had fewer turnovers, but despite two excellent defenses duking it out heavyweight style, it was one of those games where you just knew whoever had the ball last was going to win.
The first score of half number two gave the Redskins the lead as they drove the 2nd half kickoff down the field and Suisham made good on his FG attempt, this time from 29yds.
But the Giants drove back down the field and scored the go-ahead TD with a short 6yd pass from Manning to Hedgecock for the score. The Redskins had a nice drive on the next posession, but again stalled out in the red area, and settled for the FG, this time from 44yds, to make the score 21-20 with 4:55 remaining in the game.
And that was the last the Skins would see of the ball, as the Giants wore down the clock with the final drive of the game. Just after the 2:00 warning, with the Skins having already used all their time outs to conserve the clock, the Giants looked at a 3rd and long just inside the Redskins side of the 50. The pass went over the middle, was deflected by Rocky MacIntosh, but fell into the hands of Nicks who cradled it in and fell across the line of gain to finish off the game. Three kneel-downs later, and it was all over, 21-20.
It was a heck of a game, very worthy of the divisional matchup it represented, and more than meeting all expectations for what should be an excellent, fun, competitive and enjoyable online franchise to come. Great game, GameSeven. I will be ready when we meet again in FedEx. And meanwhile, go beat dem Cowboys!
We'll see if we can get some highlights up on the main board later this evening.

Wow, Zeppo. Great recap. I won't bother trying to add much to that. You did a fantastic job, matching the effort on the virtual gridiron. It certainly was a great first game to start the season.
The only regret I have coming out of it was Giants' new D-line acquisition, Chris Canty (nursing a torn hamstring IRL) becoming the first long-term injury in DSP Official as he succumbed to a torn quad and is listed as out for 8 weeks. Fortunately, the Giants have some depth at DT as the FA pickings are kind of thin.
I've uploaded a few highlights, but am unclear exactly how the Online Franchise slots work. In the meantime, feel free to take a look at what's there.

The Pittsburgh Steelers would like to welcome back to the team RG Kendall Simmons and also veteran LG Mike "I"m not a Whale" Wahle to the team. Coach Tomlin has given both players the starting jobs at their positions. To make room on the roster the Steelers have given releases to 12 year veteran LE Travis Kirschke and 6 year pro RE Nick Eason.
