I don't think they will be ranked #1 in either poll.Brando70 wrote:I'm not trying to suggest that Oregon isn't an elite team and deserving of a high ranking. Kansas has definitely had an easier schedule. But I don't think a team from a BCS conference should be denied a spot in the championship game if it is the only undefeated BCS team left. What I wonder is whether the Harris voters and Coaches would rank KU #1 if they finish undefeated, which would probably give them enough juice in the BCS to go to the title game. To me, they should be the #1 team in that case even if they played a weaker schedule.bkrich83 wrote:As it stands now Kansas has a Strength of Schedule of 86. LSU is at 17 and Oregon at 3. How much is playing OU and Mizzou going to make up?Brando70 wrote:If Kansas goes undefeated, I don't see how they can't play in the national title game. In fact, I think they would have to be the #1 team in the polls at that point, even if LSU wins out. Their strength of schedule would be a non-issue after wins over Mizzou and the Big 12 title game opponent.
Just a side note. OU is at 65 and Mizzou is at 43.
There's a lot of football left to play, so this is all academic right now.
Is the goal to get the best two teams in the final game or the best two teams that are undefeated? I guess that's the question, what is the ultimate goal of the BCS.
I agree with you for the most part, but the gap in the SOS is so great, it's not as cut and dry as it normally would be imo.
