Live streaming delayed until 2014 on the Xbone.

I have to say that the streaming stuff does little for me as well (all systems), but I think maybe that's a generational thing. My kids watch minecraft videos all the time. But folks like to show off, I guess.Sudz wrote:Live streaming delayed until 2014 on the Xbone.

I can honestly say that the following has never crossed my mind over the 30+ years I have been video-gaming:
"You know what would make all this video game s*** better?? A commenting audience watching me play!!!"

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
If the PS4 has an edge it's so slight to be unnoticeable unless actually comparing them side by side in a video like that. The colors looked a little off in the xbox images but that seems like an issue with TV calibration not console hardware. I have no doubt that certain PS4 exclusives could look better than xbox exclusives but for the vast majority of games I think they will look nearly identical. We'll see if frame rate issues creep up in games in a year or so.webdanzer wrote:Here's one comparison video:
I'm not ready to drop the dough on either system right now but I know I'll own both eventually. For now my PC blows both of them out of the water anyway so I'm quite content with my gaming options.
Also, does anyone know how much credit gamestop gives when trading in a PS3 and Xbox 360?

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
It doesn't do anything for me either but I can see why others would like it. I think you are correct in saying that it's a generational thing. I think there a lot of younger gamers who love watching other play and those who like showing off their "skills". Even if I'll never use it I think it's good that they are including features like this.webdanzer wrote:I have to say that the streaming stuff does little for me as well (all systems), but I think maybe that's a generational thing. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Don't know about Gamestop but Best Buy is giving $100 or more for any working model. I believe when I checked prior to the launch, GS was around $80.LAking wrote:Also, does anyone know how much credit gamestop gives when trading in a PS3 and Xbox 360?
And you're right...unless you're watching the games side by side, you likely won't be able to tell the difference between systems, for now. I imagine as we get further along in the console life cycle, the advantages will become a little clearer for the PS4 as developers learn how to take more advantage of the GPU headroom.
Plus, it's almost impossible to tell anything on a tiny compressed youtube video...so the difference could be much bigger if you're looking at 1080p on your 55" TV.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Traded in my PS3 160GB Slim at BB last week. Got $80 for it. They were at $100 or so a few days before that but I guess they're dropping in value every day/week...?dbdynsty25 wrote:Don't know about Gamestop but Best Buy is giving $100 or more for any working model. Me too.. I'm still on the fence and not in a rush.Inuyasha wrote:That's the thing w XBO, we don't know. Why don't they have it play demo's like PS4. I guess we have to just wait for impressions. That's why all of us on the fence are expecting you and people like you to give us the most detailed impressions when XBO is out. compare it also to PS4. It sounds like homework or another job, but it's up to you guys. I only get my videogame information / news from this forum. I don't go to any other websites since it's mostly marketing b.s. I am counting on you guys as many others on this forum are for impressions so we can make the best next gen purchase decision that suits our needs.Danimal wrote: Your constant implication that the Xbox One, something no one has seen yet, is not a gaming console "first" is just that an assumption. What is the XB1 has a really slick interface that also makes it really easy to play games? What will you say then?
Once I decide on one though.. the ps3 and my x360 are going on craigslist... my daughter has her own x360.

Just saw on Bestbuy.com you get a minimum $100 trade in for any working x360 or ps3 until 11/23

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I've largely disregarded it myself but, on the other hand and perhaps naive of any inherent limitations or restrictions, I could see the following two uses.webdanzer wrote:I have to say that the streaming stuff does little for me as well (all systems), but I think maybe that's a generational thing. First would be sports games, obviously. In a league, it would be interesting, at least once, to watch your rivals square off in the playoffs. Or to watch the last half of NHL Club matches your squad is in the middle of when you're in the lobby.
Second could be a way to 'demo' a game. If you want to show me parts of a new title I'm considering while we chat you could do a directed demo to check out a new game.

A few times in the past I have wanted two watch Madden league games... and ofcourse I would like to be able to watch the Dragons play while I wait for the next game or to watch my bot after comcast or ea have booted me.

Yes, they do turn the system on to make sure it is functional. I just traded in an old 256MB Arcade 360 to Best Buy on my lunch hour and was given a $100 gift card. Just be sure to bring a controller and the video cables with it. And if your system is a model with a HDD, that needs to be included too.Sudz wrote:MizzouRah wrote:Just saw on Bestbuy.com you get a minimum $100 trade in for any working x360 or ps3 until 11/23

Just got $150 from my local Gamestop for my PS3 (500 GB) and an additional controller.LAking wrote:Also, does anyone know how much credit gamestop gives when trading in a PS3 and Xbox 360?

There is something I think we can all agree on.
However...We should all be thankful there was no streaming ability last saturday night. One step back for 5 on 5.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I checked out a couple of the Twitch streams and they were just a blotchy mess.
I would have interest in them if you can download them and view them in better quality.
Some games have a spectator mode that lets you change cameras so you can follow the action better.
But as a system-wide thing, looks like we only have streaming.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I have to say that I agree with G7 and as a sports gamer who really enjoys being in leagues, I have for a long time awaited the ability to watch others' games in the leagues I'm in. Every madden league I've been in I have very much wanted to be able to watch the others' playoff games and especially the championship game. During regular season games, I certainly wouldn't mind having the option to pop in and view other HUM v HUM matchups.webdanzer wrote: I have to say that the streaming stuff does little for me as well (all systems), but I think maybe that's a generational thing. Also as G7 said, being able to view OTP games while waiting in the locker room would be a nice option to have. Of course, the way the Xbone appears to be set up, that would be just one option while waiting for the next game to start.
But to each his own, of course. What might be an interesting or useful or really neat feature for some of us sure to be a joke of an afterthought for many others.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I think the watch feature is pretty cool. As terms of the whole PS4 VS XBO, one system having a feature that the other doesn't is a plus for that system.

bitches. I have the YLOD on my ps3...was hoping to be able to dump it.AcemanPR wrote:Yes, they do turn the system on to make sure it is functional. All this reading about twitch and league capabilities has me curious--I'm going to test this stream crap for the next 45 minutes or so with AC4.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
It's a cool feature. I would get a much better sense of how a sports game plays by watching one of you guys play Madden or NBA than from almost any written review. I just pray that Konami can put out a quality PS4/X1 version of PES next year since that's the one sports game I would sink hundreds of hours into if it was good.LAking wrote:It doesn't do anything for me either but I can see why others would like it. I haven't been too interested in Twitch till now because most of their popular games were PC exclusives like DotA that I have no interest in. But now it's so easy for console gamers to stream the variety of stuff to watch should greatly increase.

It's a good deal.. I might take the ps3 in tomorrow.. do they look at the tamper proof sticker? I had to open mine and fix a wire that came loose.AcemanPR wrote:Yes, they do turn the system on to make sure it is functional. I can't get rid of my x360 yet.. too many games to finish. We never use the ps3 for anything but blueray movies and with on demand now, it never gets used.
