My score was +2, +2, +4 and the disastrous +15 today with a big chunk of the shots missed at hole #15. :evil10spro wrote:I finished the weekly with a +15 on the final round.Don't know what to tell you about the 15th hole as I exceeded all my shots. Reached the greens in 2 and while I looked for the caddie, it never showed up. I must have had 8-9 putts before I reached the maximum shots. For those that haven't finished Bethpage, I am curious when you reach that particular hole whether the caddie is available to guide you in the greens, because he just never showed up when I played it.
Just goes to show you how humble this game feels to me. Even though I have put a lot of rounds, I just felt totally rusty and felt like a noob playing the daily yesterday and while finishing the weekly today after 3 days of inactivity. I take my hat off to Truth and everyone else that shot in the red.

I have had a couple of holes (dont remember the holes) but I would hit the caddie button and NOTHING appeared.

I 6 putted that hole to throw my round score in the crapper. I thought it was because I was high on vicodin so glad someone else has the same problem. I had two putts go up the hill and come right back down.10spro wrote:I finished the weekly with a +15 on the final round.Don't know what to tell you about the 15th hole as I exceeded all my shots. Horrible pin placement in the last round

Yep - had a few holes where the caddie didn't show. I only used it on the greens to get an idea how severe a break was. I hardly ever aimed where it told me to.orthostud23 wrote:I have had a couple of holes (dont remember the holes) but I would hit the caddie button and NOTHING appeared.
I doubled 15 that last round. First putt rolled right back down the hill. That last round had some tough hole locations.

On 15, when the putt kept rolling down on me, I honestly felt like using the wedge at one point and put that hole out of my misery.
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Well since other people are talking about it, and warning those who haven't faced that hole on day 4 yet, I'll discuss as well.
Reached 15 green in two and having a fairly decent round fr me at -3. I appeared to most likely have a pretty firm grip on 3rd place for the tournament and then it happened.
I was about 30 feet short of the hole, but on the green in two. First putt makes it almost up to the hole and then proceeded to roll back past where I just putted from. 2nd attemp same thing. 3rd attemp I intentionally muscle it up past the hole and I'm about 8 feet away. Next putt I just give it a tap. Lips the hole and then continued on down to where I was originally.
This continued until I maxed out the hole and I was so piseed this morning that I went on to double 16,17 and 18 as well. That's on me, I get it. But 15 on day 4 is BS IMO.

15 got me in the 4th round also, kept putting uphill missing it by inches and it rolled back down to where I started from until I got the shot exceeded message.

I feel very fortunate then with my triple on 15. Plus, I got really lucky on 9 because even though I hit one into the stands it placed me in front of the stands without penalty and I ended up getting a par on the hole.
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Nonsense like this is always in Tiger. Mostly because they allow for pins to be put on sidehills. The devs should program dead zones are something so that 2-5 ft around these areas a pin isn't randomly put.Wilk5280 wrote:Well since other people are talking about it, and warning those who haven't faced that hole on day 4 yet, I'll discuss as well.

At the real US Open at Bethpage, they had a par 3 like this and even the USGA did something about it. Frustrating to play a round then get a pin where you hit a perfect shot or play ping pong for a while.

Yeah I guess, but I have probably over 200 rounds and not seen this until this round.

Agreed. I played a lot of rounds and no matter whether I had my dude maxed out on XP's or whether I was playing Tiger Woods himself, that golf ball was not going to go into the hole.Wilk5280 wrote:Yeah I guess, but I have probably over 200 rounds and not seen this until this round.

Hoping to get my rounds in before the deadline, but you guys have got my knees buckling at what fate might await me
Been a busy weekend, but I'll be settling down after 10 PM EDT.

At least you've been forewarned. Curious whether it matters if you happen to have the same issues a few of us had on that particular hole.J_Cauthen wrote:Hoping to get my rounds in before the deadline, but you guys have got my knees buckling at what fate might await me![]()

Been here since Friday and don't leave until Thursday for home......I'll likely miss this coming week's touraments, but I do look forward to getting back to competition the following week! Going to play real Golf today if it does not rain.

It's less frequent than two Tiger's ago but annoying. Because you just know you are screwed looking at the putt.10spro wrote:Agreed. Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
So I played 2 rounds last night after my 4 work layoff due to work. I was fairly consistently at par (sometimes a little better and sometimes a little worse) when I last played. Best I could do yesterday was 88. Was going to cram in the weekly but the 88 discouraged me. Guess I lost my touch. Then I read about the 15th hole and became afraid.
Ill practice tonight and get my butt handed to me in the daily.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I can now share in the misery of the 15th hole in round 4. I was 3 under par for my round after 14 holes and looked like I had the potential to jump into a tie for 4th place. I had a 190 yard approach into an 18 mph headwind. I hit a perfect backswing/2-ticks under Perfect "Slow" tempo 3-wood that hit the green about 8 feet underneath the pin. It rolled up to within 2 feet of the hole - came to a stop - and rolled back to 39 feet from the hole.
My birdie putt missed about 6 inches to the left and rolled 6 feet past the hole. I "touched" the par putt, it broke below the hole and rolled and rolled right back to where my birdie putt had been struck from. I wound up lipping in an 8 foot downhill putt for a quadruple bogey 8. I felt fortunate to get that because honestly, I had already resigned myself to "stroke limit exceeded" finish on the hole.
Pin placements like this are a black eye on the quality of this game. It really cheapened the experience for me and made my final round feel like a shake-down. I hit a great approach shot which should have put me in position for a tap in birdie, instead I'm insulted with a 6-putt quad
Of course it played the same for everyone so I can't complain in that sense, but this game really sullies itself with pin placements like this. It's a pin placement a tournament committee would never approve in real life. Even the manual caddy knew there was no hope on this hole and offered no advice on aiming any of my 6 putts
I've got to give the nod to HOGZ for his 21 under par finish. That is just inconceivable to me
... After round 1, I thought -10 might win the tournament. HOGZ and OrthoStud bettered that mark. I've also gotta tip the hat to Naples39 for a strong finish; 3 under par rounds in a row... nice! Webanzer was as steady as a rock and how about Leebo33 posting a 66 in the final round!
I had 8 birdies total for the tournament. I should consider myself lucky to have finished only 9 over, when I had two doubles and a quad to my credit. I never managed to reach the par 4, 7th in two, although I came within a foot of doing in in the final round. I felt like a bit of a sellout in the final two rounds, using the caddy's aiming advice on any putt that had less than a foot of break in it. A lot of the putts I made I would have missed had I gone with my read.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Playing the weekly this week was tense. As I played the last few holes I just wanted to get off the course and make my score official before I collapsed.
For me, I putt better with these settings. I don't know, something just clicks for me. I played like crap in round 3, bogeyed 2-5, but then my putter went extremely hot and I managed a -1 round with only 21 putts.
I also got the caddie not giving recommendations on 2 holes, though I *thought* that happens because he's playing the break so severely that his recommendation is to aim off the green entirely. I searched around the green but still couldn't find the marker so maybe not.

I agree this was impressive. The no grids and caddy brought everyone down except him, he actually bettered hi average scores. Thanks! I've gradually been getting better with experience, but the major difference has been increasing stats by having some time and playing a ton offline with the 10x XP pin. I've been pumping everything into putting and I've noticed it is *much* easier with putting at 85 than when I played those first few tournaments with putting close to 35-50. I can't tell you how many times I used to have a birdie putt and end up with a bogey or worse. The game is much more forgiving with the same putting motion and higher stats.J_Cauthen wrote:how about Leebo33 posting a 66 in the final round!
The other reason I had a great 4th round, believe it or not, is that I actually was trying to play much more conservatively. I was REALLY scared going into the last round and didn't want to blow up (didn't know at the time about the debacle at 15 but saw the high scores) after doing so well after 3 rounds so I was basically trying to place myself on the green to NOT bogey any holes instead of thinking about trying to birdie them all. So I ended up avoiding the snowmen or two that have been totally destroying my rounds (there were rounds previously when I was -6 at some point and choked all the way to +5 by the end).
Love this game...even bought Doral over the weekend.

I don't have a "trick". Just been playing the same way ever since the demo and early release came out. I don't know what I do differently than anyone else. I use a MS controller and almost always get overswing slow on my putts, but use the aiming reticle to gauge power. If it is fast greens I will sometimes aim short of the hole because i know it will go further because of the fast conditions. For putting I will say this. I use mostly the first view to aim my putt and look at the hole in relation to the ball and try to line it up with the break...this after looking at my degree above/under and slope. When playing with no grids I will zoom in on the hole and flatten the camera out to look at the lip of the hole too, to also help judge how severe the break will be. But the caddie helped this time to determine how severe the break was.
A lot of my birdie putts were under 15 feet, so I was able to hit my approach shots well during the first 3 rounds on Bethpage. I also chipped well, having two chip ins from the bunker for birdies. I also think it is the course. Some courses I have noticed I can score really well but others I can struggle on.
All I know is, this is the first Tiger in a long time that I have kept playing since release. I really enjoy playing it.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Leebo's strategy for Bethpage Black is indeed wise. I wish I had been a little more conservative in my final round. There were a couple of times where I tried to carry more rough than I should have with tee shots. I wound up in some nasty lies that resulted in badly missed greens. If I had just aimed my tee shot more left or right, I'd have left myself a longer approach, but I'd have likely carried the rough and made the fairway.DivotMaker wrote:Nice playing Leebo! Nothing tops the course management error I made tonight in the Daily at Waialea. I came to the 15th hole with a one stroke lead over Vader. I slightly pushed my tee shot into the first cut on the right. I was facing a 10 MPH headwind and a 181 yard shot. I clubbed up to a 4-iron since I was going into the wind, never once paying attention to the lie I had. The strike-meter had defaulted to the top third of the ball. I didn't realize where I was actually striking the ball until just after impact. The ball took off like a rocket, flew the green and went O.B. by about 15 yards! I had just hit a classic flier, and never once recognized the conditions were there. Wound up with a double bogey, but hopefully learned a lesson I'll never forget!

I closed with an eagle on 18 to put me back in the lead, but it will be short-lived, I'd guess. This course looks a lot like one that DivotMaker might have gotten to play IRL today... I had a ball playing Waialea, it really looks good in Tiger 13!
