Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I've got Firestone set for this weekend for the Xbox. Been trying to match the PGA tour schedule if those courses are available, this weekends PGA tour has both Firestone and Montreux G&CC tournaments scheduled and next weekend has Quail Hollow but the only course I see for Quail Hollow is a red tee with number 1 pins only so if another one doesn't get made we can do the Montreux next weekend. Got the society up to Level 6 also after donating the difference to get us there, Level 7 will take 22,000 coins.

Whatever works for the PC players.J_Cauthen wrote:How about if we do this... if friendBOMBER releases the Rustic theme version of Firestone before Thursday, we play there, if not, we'll do Sawgrass or Pebble Beach? It may not be "exciting" in one sense, I do love a challenging course.
TPC Sawgrass is also pretty challenging as well as Pebble Beach. Have not played Merion East yet. There is also Crooked Stick and Copperhead at Innisbrook to consider. Hell, I would love to take a shot at Augusta (Magnolia National).....
Sounds like a plan.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Played Firestone on ps4 just now. Controller issues damned me to a 78.
Nonetheless I loved this course! Very fair. No tricks.

You weren't having controller issues when you played the PS4 Daily at The Valleys at Calhoun Square yesterday. You're the only player to have matched or bettered par at FIFA-Inspected's course, and you're sitting on a six stroke leadMUTTS wrote:Played Firestone on ps4 just now. friendBOMBER still hasn't responded to my inquiry about his publishing of of Firestone in the Rustic theme. As soon as I find out whether it's going to happen, or Wednesday evening gets here and I haven't heard any different, I'm going to go with the Harvest theme version on the PS4.
I'm still open for suggestions on the PC Society version for the weekly. If I don't hear any more requests for the Harvest version of Firestone, I'll go with Tim's suggestion for TPC Sawgrass, which is also a friendBOMBER production.
[EDIT:] I just got word from friendBOMBER that he won't be updating Firestone to Rustic until after the real life tournament. He wants to get some more data from the TV broadcast to help him with some other edits to the course he anticipates. Does that affect the sentiment on the PC Society weekly venue this week for anyone? I'm equally good with Firestone (Rustic), TPC Sawgrass, or Pebble Beach... whichever one is going to have the largest common denominator.

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Firestone is fine by me.
So I was playing a round last night at Beaver Creek and it said I was playing with Merrace. No idea how that happened as I didn't hit to join with anyone. I saw hi ball marker on the first green but as I went to hole 2 he was no where to be seen, yet his 1st hole score was on the score card. Really weird MP system they have going.
I also can't believe they can't stat track rounds at each course so I know my best score there. For a game without much in terms of feeling like your on Tour, they should at least stat track better.

Thanks for that input... any others in the DSP PC Society want to weigh in on this?Danimal wrote:Firestone is fine by me.
Do you have "Auto Add Friends" selected in the Social menu? It would add an active friend if you do. It could have been that Merace played one hole and either quit or suspended his round, either before or after you started play. I'm bad about starting a round, getting called away and leaving the game up, only to come back and finish it up hours later. All sorts of people have come through at that point and wondered what happened to me.So I was playing a round last night at Beaver Creek and it said I was playing with Merrace. This game desperately needs a pre-game, invite to game function like we had in TGC 1. It also needs to have match play and skins available live in conjunction with that. The multiplayer in this game just flat out sucks as it currently stands! I can't believe we don't have either of those requisite features at our disposal

This game needs a complete revamp of the online MP system.

Vader, I just finished my round at Woodbridge which incidentally ends tonight. If that's the case you can squeeze another daily tomorrow since the next tournament starts on the 3rd, no?

Added Sawgrass as the daily for tomorrow.10spro wrote:

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Ended up shooting even par for yesterdays daily on the PC. I was -6 at one point but then just lost focus because of the layout. Not a fan of 500+ yard par 5's that require you to hit an iron off the tee because of the dog leg. So I just started trying to cut corners and next thing I know I'm even.
Still nice to play a fellow DSP members course, make me want to try my hand at making one but not sure I have the patience.

Is it just me, or was Woodbridge a horrible design. Both the hole layouts and greens screamed video-game, nothing organic about it at all. Frustrating to play, hope to never load that one up again...10spro wrote:Tell him to play TGC2 for you.Jimmydeicide wrote:Haven't been able to get near the console since the Doctor subscribed Xbox as therapy for Evan![]()

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I was not a fan of Woodbridge at all. Gave it the lowest rating of a course so far.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I didn't love Woodbridge either, FWIW

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Woodbridge makes for some dramatic looking screen shots, but doesn't lend itself to realistic golf. I got fooled by it's magazine cover quality a while back and set a tournament there.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I was -2 at one point, but I learned from the PS4 version that this course gets harder as you proceed. I'm not a fan of long par 4's where you have to lay up with a 5-wood off the tee, or slice a 5-wood over trees to find a landing spot in the fairway that will leave you a 185 to 200 yard approach to the green, but this course had some really good holes as well. It was a far cry better than anything I've ever tried to make in The Golf Club or The Golf Club 2. I've seen auto-gen courses that had more character than the abominations I've tried to createDanimal wrote:Ended up shooting even par for yesterdays daily on the PC. I wasn't sure my -1 would have held up, especially if Tim had played the course.
Yeah, it did give it a personal stamp. I may go back and try to make something I'm not ashamed to publish out of what I've been working on, having seen this.Still nice to play a fellow DSP members course, make me want to try my hand at making one but not sure I have the patience.

I actually though some of the holes were great and wasn't trying to say it was bad. I just didn't like some of the layout, at one point I finished a par 5 and the next hole was a 544 yards par 4J_Cauthen wrote:It was a far cry better than anything I've ever tried to make in The Golf Club or The Golf Club 2. I may try and make one but I'm not patient enough to learn this quirky editor.

Gratz on the -7 so far at TPC, John. I haven't finished it yet but I am struggling with a +7 already after hole 14. The short game from the heavy rough and tricky putting got threat of me. Never get tired of the course though.
Regarding Woodbridge, I didn't mind it, they have some beautiful holes coupled with some plain ones. Not easy to break even.

Yeah, that -7 was legit...I was even through most of the round and fell back late. Rough back 9.10spro wrote:Gratz on the -7 so far at TPC, John. No, I'm sure you weren't trying to say it was bad. I took what you were saying as constructive criticism, as I'm sure FIFA did.Danimal wrote:I actually though some of the holes were great and wasn't trying to say it was bad.
If you want to try a quirky editor, try that of Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf... you have to have a pretty good general working knowledge of Unity to get the most out of it. I think TGC 2's is pretty easy to lay out the basic plot with, but it is tricky to get the touches out of it that make the great courses great... you have to have a mastery of the order of operations to get certain things to work together.may try and make one but I'm not patient enough to learn this quirky editor.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Thanks James... that was a special round. I got really hot with the putter. I started off with a bogey on the first hole, but played well from there. I missed an easy 8 foot eagle putt on the 16th hole, after hitting what was almost a career best approach shot with a 5-wood. friendBOMBER did a magnificent job on this course and it will be an enduring staple in the TGC 2 community.10spro wrote:Gratz on the -7 so far at TPC, John. How'd you like the new 12th hole at Sawgrass? I came within yards of driving the green, then hit one of the sorriest chips I've ever hit. Left myself a 32 foot birdie putt... that came within inches of dropping, BTW.

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Unless, you're playing with Tour clubs, I don't think you can reach it with a driver. I am still a Player club and I had crossed wind of about 10mph during my gameplay.J_Cauthen wrote:How'd you like the new 12th hole at Sawgrass? As I was saying earlier also , even though I struggled mightily with the short game, all my putts were about 10ft away on average just to break par. Maybe it was my choice of clubs for this particular course but hey no complains here. Love Sawgrass and he did a great job. I know I did +1 before playing here and when I saw your score, I knew it was special.
This is the type of course I would include in my weekend tourneys.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I had a 7 MPH wind coming from about 10 o-clock when I played it, and even though I had perfect/perfect tempo, and was only like two gradients to the left on the swing path, I still came up a few yards short of the green. The 20 to 28 yard shots are the most difficulty for me to decide how to approach. I tried hitting a chip shot with the pitching wedge in this case, as I was 28 yards from the pin. I lofted it up a bit, but then babied it and left it embarrassingly short.10spro wrote:As I was saying earlier also , even though I struggled mightily with the short game, all my putts were about 10ft away on average just to break par. I'm going to set the PC Weekly at friendBOMBER's TPC Sawgrass next week. At this point though, I'm feeling the strongest vibe in the DSP XBox Society... we easily have the strongest turnout there, but I'm still enjoying the PC and PS4 Societies. I'll keep them going as long as I'm not the only one playing them.

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Wow, great course! Some pin locations were brutal. Great score JC! I was fortunate to finish even par.
