City Lose Two Of Three
Manchester City FC 1 : 2 Aston Villa FC
Manchester City FC 0 : 3 Newcastle Utd FC
Manchester City FC 3 : 3 Villareal CF
Manchester City lost two out of three games played recently, all at home. First was 2-1 loss to Aston Villa. Angel broke the ice for the Villans in the 23rd minute, and it remained 1-0 until halftime. Early after the break, A. Cole knotted the score at 1-1 in minute 58, but Angel struck again in the 67th minute to give Villa the win and the season sweep over City. Stats were nearly even, except one glaring number: posession was in Villa's favor by a count of 57 to 43!
The second loss came v. Newcastle Utd, and the game report was posted by Rob.
Finally, City drew rivals Villareal 3-3 in a game in which they led three times, only to allow the equalizer each time. Mussampa found the target for City in the 37th minute, but the home side couldn't hold the lead going into the break, as Guayre equalized in minute 44. The second half was fast and frantic, featuring wide open play up and down the pitch. This time Vassel struck first, in minute 52, only to see José Mari pull it back in minute 55. Then A. Cole blasted one home in the 61st minute, but again City couldn't hold the lead and Villareal reposted with Riquelme in the 69th minute. That final goal was a nice bit of tic-tac-toe passing that busted open the City defense, something that Villareal was able to do consistently on the day only to be stimied by innacurracy, or David James. They did find the net enough to get a share of the points.
City's season has crashed into the heap of mediocrity with four losses in their last six matches. With two games left to play, there is still a slim chance they could be relegated.
Good games, Jared, and Slumberland. Rob. . . . screw you!
I'll get my revenge in College Hoops, if not the Brazil challenge.
I won't be able to play this weekend, unfortunately. My remaining games with Mo and Squid may end up being moot, but I'd like to try to get them in Monday whether or not they matter to who ends up 1st or last in the Division. I am hopeful that Monday I will be able to start the congrats thread so we can get the final old-Xbox version season underway by the beginning of the next week.
Thanks all; have fun, and play fair!

I wish I could say about after that but it is up in the air as to what I will be doing.
Sorry again about the notice...just the nature of my present situation.

OK extension granted. Let's get done by the end of the week, though, so maybe we can get started on Season Seven next Monday! Maybe. If we can get the team selection stuff done. Divisions should be easy, as unless anyone is leaving us, Blub will slip right into Snate's spot.
I put forfeits in for Snate's remaining games. Amazingly, the DSPenultimate was decided on Goal Difference! Of course, the one game Snate played was a win against Cloud. Interesting. Cloud, judging by your scores against many of the other Top Tier teams, I think you may want to think about changing to a 2nd Tier team for next season as you enter the DSPremiership for the first time. You don't have to change teams, but if you do, since you are now in Div. I, it has to be a 2nd Tier team.
Mo and squid are the slackers this time around. Both still have a chance to catch Rob, since they have so many games left to play. If we don't hear fromyou guys by Wednesday, forfeits may be on the way!! Both guys can PM me with times they can play (I should have some afternoons this week that are free).

City Steals Point At Fulham
Fulham FC 1 : 1 Manchester City FC
In a wild and crazy, and lag-free match at the Kanji dome, Man City snuck out with a point in a case of highway robbery, thanks to an own goal at the death of regulation. The game was so wild, no stats were transcribed. The scoring started in the first half when Raszinski found himself all alone at the far post and leaned into a header, sending the ball back across the face of goal and into the side netting. Jamed was in no-man's land on the cross, which went over his head in the six yard box.
The second half saw City pushing to equalize, and getting plenty of chances thanks to Fulham also pushing forward, looking to kill the game and earn their first win of the season. But second-half sub Sinclair turned into the hero for the visitors when he worked his way into the box in stoppage time. His pass across the face of goal was on target to find Fowler at the back post, but the big central back for Fulham, runinng towards his own goal, had no choice but to play the ball, and his clumsy first touch sent the ball rolling into the net, costing his side two important points in their relegation battle with City. Wow. Total insanity.
There were no bookings, but Reyna went down with a yellow cross in the second half. With a roll of 1, he will not miss City's final game of the season.
GG squid. Wow. Just nuts!

I can do tomorrow (Wed) at 10pm Central, if it's available.mobiggins wrote:I will have to forfeit, I think.
The only time I can play is tomorrow from 3pm to 445pm cst.
Then I leave town Thursday afternoon and won't return until monday.
I could play late tomorrow night after 10pm cst.
If anybody can play those times, let me know.
OK folks; here's the plan.bphilipb wrote:I had a blast playing and I will be back again but not next season.
I will be back probably in late January or early Feb if the league is still going.
BB
We have it in us to do one more season before transferring to the 360 version.
That game ships on Feb. 6. I plan on starting Season Seven ASAP, and setting the usual league deadlines.
I do not expect anyone including myself will hew to these deadlines.
I expect that most games will be played starting from the date of the NCAA Nat'l Championship game on Jan. 08, until the date the 360 game drops, Feb. 6 or 7.
However, key to the plan is that we START THIS SEASON SOON. This way, some game can get played in the next week or two, before holiday insanity gets underway.
That way, after the Florida/ Ohio St. game, we can have games to be played, schedules posted, one last draught of the old before we enter the new, for better or worse.
With Blub entering the league, depending on who would change teams if anyone, we can roll smoothly into Season Seven as soon as the weekend.
Who's in?
Match Report
Newcastle 1 Villareal 1
SOG 20, 9
Tar 12, 3
FK 6, 9
Cor 4, 0
Offside 2, 0
Posses 41, 59
Scoring: Owen 36'
Riquelme 53' (PK)
Villareal avenged their earlier drubbing at the hands of Newcastle by taking a point on Magpies home field. Despite having the lion's share of the chances, the Toon were unable to break through against the Spaniards' stout defense and blindingly good goalkeeper. Barbosa was clearly man of the match, stopping several tough shots in the second half to deny Newcastle their winner.
Newcastle came out of the gates fast, peppering the Villareal goal with shots but never truly challenging Barbosa. In the 36th minute, Kieran Dyer made a darting run through the Spanish defense, and dropped the ball off for Michael Owen, who finished easily. It seemed that this was the first of many to come, but the visitors though up the shutters from that point on.
The second half started with a fine chance for Harry Shearer from a Dyer corner, but his shot was reflexively parried by Barbosa. In the 53rd minute, on one of their few forays into the Newcastle box, Riquelme was brought down by Carr. The contact was right on the line, but the referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot. The Argentinian cheekily slotted the ball down the middle for the equalizer.
Newcastle pinned the Spaniards back for the remainder of the play, yielding just one second half shot on target to the visitors, but were unable to take their chances.
Great game, Slumber. I think I may need a new coffee table from slamming my head down into this one.
