Uh, yeah: Instant pre-order tonight. Once again, thanks for the tip, The Donald!

I think we'll see Spa as the track on every hosted road race from the release date through New Year's. :)

That said, I'm disappointed at how little the incredible Zandvoort Circuit is used for hosted races.

Tried PiBoSo's Kart Racing Pro tonight, and it runs HORRIBLY on my 128 MB ATI Radeon Mobility X1400 graphics card, even with all settings turned low. Slide show. Undriveable.

Odd, considering the Readme said the minimum card needed is 64 MB. Odd how I can run rFactor and iRacing with no problem on my lappy but not a homebrew kart racing sim.

One of the good things about this bulletin board is that it gives you the chance to review your post if someone gets in before you. In this case, it allows me to delete the part where I suggest that somewhere in the north-eastern United States one Mr P Kelly is nursing a semi.

I've just had a sneaky peek at the iRacing site to see if it had released early, which it hadn't, which is probably just as well because I've got a very early start in the morning and really don't need to be pounding around Spa for a couple of hours tonight.

I'm all over this poker night, though...

Can you play Iracing with PC 360 controller? If so i'd like to give it a go if someone still has a free pass for iRacing. :)

Spa and Street Stocks are now available for iRacing!!
One of the most eagerly awaited tracks in the history of iRacing is now available. That’s right, you can finally race Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in all its majestic, spine-tingling glory, from the daunting Eau Rouge to picturesque Blanchimont and the iconic La Source hairpin. It’s all there, all 4.352 miles (7.004 km) of it.

What are you waiting for? Head on over to the tracks page to experience Spa for yourself!
Those aren’t sleigh bells and reindeer hooves you hear, but the sound of 375 ponies waiting to strut their stuff on the iRacing track of your choice. Whether you’ve been bad or good, naughty or nice, Santa is on his way to deliver you a little holiday present in the form of the iRacing Street Stock. Based on a maxed-out version of the entry-level stock cars that race at most short tracks, iRacing Street Stock’s small block V8 puts 375 horsepower through its four speed transmission in a 3,400 pound car that will leave Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and even Rudolf eating dust.

The iRacing Street Stock is in your garage now, just itching to be downloaded.

I posted about this in the Deals thread, but thought it may be worth reposting here as well.

All the more recent Simbin titles are on sale at Steam right now for 75% off. Basically you could get all of their titles for around $20 which is a huge amount of tracks and series. The titles include Race07, GTR Evolution, STCC, and Race On. You can buy them in bundles or just the individual expansion packs. Even though I don't race anything outside of iRacing these days, this is a huge amount of quality content at a very low price.

Major framerate hits for me at Spa.

I get a smooth 51 FPS at every iRacing track except for Indianapolis Road, which stutters like Mel Tillis. Sadly, Spa is added to the stutter list. I rarely get above 40 FPS, and it chugs and gurgles at certain points.

VERY disappointing.

What are your graphic settings in game? Do you have shadows off? They seem to make a huge difference at Spa on or off, as might be expected,

Shadows are off. I'm not dealing with a muscular GPU -- only 128 MB. But every track runs fine except for Indy Road and now Spa.

:x

I'll tweak a little more over the holiday week. The track is SO much fun to drive. The best Spa rendition ever.

I reinstalled GPL again this weekend for sh*ts and giggles, and damned if it still doesn't stand up incredibly well despite being 13 years old. Truly a marvel among PC racing sims.

Holding a Brabham Repco in a four-wheel drift through the Esses at Watkins Glen is a thrill and a pleasure. This is my first time driving GPL with a G25 wheel, and it really helps eliminate that "driving on ice" feel of GPL with lesser wheels.

What a phenomenal sim.

The new Sports Car 1967 mod for Grand Prix Legends is fantastic.

Man, I'm having fun again with GPL. What a timeless sim.

Mega oooooh.

But I haven't touched iRacing in a month. GPL, with all of its available upgrades and mods, has me transfixed again.

Hadn't seen this thread in a while, but if you are still wondering, yes, it works. I'm sure all the iRacing guys in here would have a heart attack though.

Good to see you in here again, Naples. I still reckon iRacing will be ideal for someone as steady and consistent as you were on Race Pro.

There are certain games, such as every XBox 360 racer I've ever played, where a wheel wouldn't be of benefit to me, while Rod graduated with honours from the Paul Kelly School of Unnecessary Expenditure. I get why folk would be running PC sims with a gamepad, though if Rod could get anywhere near some of our laptimes with a pad I'd consider selling my G25 and giving up completely. Mind, I'm sure I remember correctly when I say he wasn't far away from the pace on rFactor using an IndyCar Series mod not renowned for being easy to drive.

I used to play Grand Prix Legends with a pad. No analogue inputs, only digital. It was a bit tricky, to say the least of it, but I didn't know any different at the time and thought it was the absolute canine undercarriage. A testament to how good GPL is rather than how good my cheapo pad was, but I could imagine iRacing being similar.

Well PK was nice enough to spot me with 3 months of iRacing, but about 2 months of that was lost when I was in the hospital. :(

I was pretty lousy at it. The thing is, I've never learned to play racing games with wheels--on just about every xbox racing game I'm considerably faster with the controller than with wheel.

I have rFactor installed and mainly just hotlap from time to time, because I'm pretty crappy at that game too. A little torn with what to do with racing games these days. iRacing is very appealing, but the monthly and tracks costs add up for someone's who's still on the fence about what I'm doing with PC racing.
