Yeah. They are. I'm convinced this will end up as the worst season in league history. Maybe it won't be bad enough to outdo TFC in their first season, we'll see, but they should outpace the horror that was Metro's 99 season. They stink, Angel can't move anymore, letting go of DVB has left them with no one who can provide for the forwards, and of course we lost Jozy and got nothing out of it and did nothing to replace him. The defenders all stink (except Goldthwaite who's been surprisingly competent this season, but is now hurt), and we have no credible goalie. Although we did just get rid of Conway, thank goodness.

They say Osorio hasn't lost the team, but that's very hard to believe because it's clear no one on the field thinks they can win games. I think the Austrian Overlords are just waiting until the off season to make changes. The only thing left to play for is the CONCACAF Champs League, so we have a home and away qualifying round coming up against mighty Trinidadian powerhouse W Connection. I don't see how anyone could think they have a chance to win that competition or even make it to the group stage, but at least as of yet, they still technically have a shot.

I can't wait to get out of stupid Giants Stadium.

Becks was rather slow and played a rather insignificant role in his return to MLS. Let's face it he's back, though only for a little while. I just don't see the enthusiasm he has in the league as when he played in Italy recently and his presence in future games will only serve as a reminder of how things didn't quite work for both sides.

As he starts his half season back with the MLS, everything seems awkward as the league tried to have its cake and eat it too, unwilling to sell Beckham outright to Milan, preventing him from playing in Europe where he belongs.

But how long can his heart go on in NA, knowing that he can still play at a level far higher that MLS, as he proved in Milan earlier this year.

another reason I won't watch MLS, they keep telling me that Donovan can play at Man U. The fecker couldn't even cut it at Bayern.

Pretty sure he's laughing his way to the bank at the dumb American soccer fans. I know some people who paid 200 bucks per ticket to watch him play in a f***in exhibition match. All because he's good looking too, they didn't know s*** about soccer they just wanted to scream to him how hot he was LOL. Beckham is a champion. He was one of the first players to rock the faux hawk in the World Cup. Not to mention his wife is a 10. Would be nice to be him for a while.

Pretty sad that one of the biggest known American players is still Alexi L and he hasn't played for a while. People here are desperate for a "star", and Donovan is the guy now and has been for quite some time for some reason.

Here's the proposed trade between Barca and Inter. Eto's and Hleb for Italy's top scorer Z. Ibrahimovic.

The agreement is in principal with both teams, now it's up to the players. Will Eto'o accept this time? I can see definitely more chemistry between Zlan and Messi if the trade goes through.

Eto put away the winning goal in the CL final.

Ibrahimovic didn't score against Man U., did he?

As an Inter fan I think that's a great deal for them. Zlatan obviously wants out, and I'm sure he'll pout like a b*tch if he doesn't get to move.

Bit more info about ESPN's Premiership coverage for next season.

Arsenal chum sent me this - it's nice to know that they can keep smiling through the bitterness. Of course, all of Arsenal's players get paid in penny chews and the odd threepence for a win, and were all local born lads who just love the shirt

Allow me to do my own keepy-uppy with the humour quotient....

Dateline, Old Trafford, 20 July

Purplenose....."Carlos Tevez is not worth £25m, and we were not prepared to deal at that price"

Dateline, Old Trafford, 20 June

Man Utd Chief Executive, David Gill......"The club agreed to pay the option price of £25.5m and offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its highest-paid players."

So, either Sir Alex (aka "The Greatest Football Manager this side of Proxima Centauri") does not talk to the guy who is effectively in charge of the club, or one or the other of them is (whispers it) - A GREAT BIG LYING GET !!

I do love this though.....every time he opens his mouth it's just like the kid in the playground sulking about how he's not bothered. Well, Sir Alex, if you ain't bothered, why talk about us at all ?

Made my day, that has :)

What I find amusing is how much El Apache is still talking about Manchester United, me thinks he still wants to be in red.

Almost as amusing as the Scots Drunk telling porkies about us and getting caught out again.

Still, as a born and bred Mancunian, hence being a Blue, I've even got a playlist of songs by Manchester bands to soundtrack Sir Alex's offseason.

Panic (The Smiths)
Two Steps Back (The Fall)
Look Back in Anger (Oasis)
I Started Something I Couldn't Finish (The Smiths)
Ade Will Tear Us Apart (Joy Division...ish)
The Beggar (Durutti Column....now that the Glasers have turned the taps off)
The Book of Lies (The Fall)
Something's Gone Wrong Again (The Buzzcocks...to soundtrack Michael Owen's inevitable September injuries)
Tw*t (John Cooper Clarke)

:)

Appreciate the reminder of why I prefer Liverpool...musically and in sports. :)

The only decent band to come out of Liverpool was Half Man Half Biscuit, and they're from Tranmere.

Everything else - the city, the people, the music, their self-pitying f**king grieving, marks the place out as an ideal spot to drop a 10 kt H-Bomb. I would have said Neutron Bomb, but there's nothing there worth saving.

If I had my way, Merseyside would have a great big wall put round it and then blown into the Irish Sea.

God, I hate the place.

In order to safeguard jobs and services in the rest of the North West, I have identified the best locally designed, developed and constructed tool for the redevelopment and beautification of Grievers Central.

Unfortunately the Rolls-Royce engines don't run on unleaded fuel, but in all other respects the use of thousands of these magnificent craft over Liverpool will have a beneficial effect on the environment.

I'm a City fan - my hard times have been self-inflicted since 1977.

When you've watched them drop down into League One away at Stoke, now THAT's a hard time

;)

Wednesday 2 - Hartlepool 0

It was a friendly, but for once Owlstalk wasn't overly pessimistic about the team. That either means we will be decent this year or a big let down is in the cards.

I'm tempted to put a NSFW warning on some of these kits for next season, they are BEYOND grim.

They are, in order,

Birmingham City
Bolton Wanderers
Tottenham (particularly triffic for Redknapp, the sack of s***)
West Ham
Everton home (nice to see both of theirs are crap this year)

oh, and Everton away - won't that look nice stretched over a Scousers beergut

Anyone catching the World Football Challenge games?

Milan and Chelsea seem to be going at it pretty seriously.

But Club America has pulled some upsets.

They will have played two football matches before the Cowboys play in their new stadium.

Well, i went to my first ever professional soccer match yesterday. Watched AC Milan vs. Inter. I have to admit, as a hockey guy who understands how certain sports are far better in person than on TV, i really enjoyed it. You just don't see enough of the two-three steps ahead strategy when you watch a match on television so it was fun for me to really hone in on just what they are trying to do.

And my 8 year old daughter, who is quite a good little player, asked soooo many questions which was awesome.

You've still got time to get onto the sky blue bandwagon before it transforms itself into a juggernaut, Rally.

And here's the image that sent that drunken sack of s*** off into his rant, bottom lip trembling like the old school bully who's just had his lunch money taken off him...
