Roma faced a double header at the Stadio Olypico tonight. First hosting fellow Italians Juventus and then facing the Spanish Armada in Real Madrid.

Cassano 77'
Rained hard in this one. Started slow, but once the goals started coming Roma could not be stopped. Juve missed a couple of golden opportunities.
The Madrid game was decidedly drier... of rain as well as goals. It was a tense game. Lots of good defense... not a lot of good offense from either team.

Fun games from both. Oh and Darcourt earned the coveted yellow cross... roll away Zep.

Real Madrid hosted Juventus this evening in a what turned out to be an offensive show for the Spanish Armada. After struggling at the tail end of last season, the offense came alive to avenge a late season loss from Juventus.

Real Madrid played host to Spanish league rivals, Valencia. The Real Madrid offense came to life after suffering a defeat against AC Milan and racked up 7 goals. Valencia had several scroing opportunites but had a hard time getting the shots on target.

Yeah, here we go:
Meanwhile, . . .
Villareal CF 0 : 1 Manchester City FC
Man City started their season last night on the road to Villareal after an aborted attempt with a crazy-laggy fsquid the other day. The game was a battle from start to finish, both teams seeking whatever slim advantage there was to be had. Riquelme in particular had a good match, with several shots from close range, but City keeper Weaver, on with a red arrow for the blue-arrowed James, came up huge on a few occasions to keep the visitors in the game.
The lone goal came in stoppage time of the first half. Weaver sent a punt upfield, and Andy Cole threw his body around with the super-cancel, somehow knocking the ball towards Vassel. Vassel took a few turbo-free touches and carved out a bit of space at the top of the box before ripping a hard shot past a diving keeper. The rest of the match saw the home side control the play, but Man City were defending like madmen. Despite plenty of posession, the Spanish side could not break through and find the equalizer.

Great game, Slumber. I was definitely on my game on the defensive side, and Weaver surprised me with some of those saves. Warm up the bus and skip the showers, we just stole points and have to get away!
Good luck the rest of the way, and I'll see you in the second half.
Finally, let's get some games played, folks! I know we started a little later in the week than usual, but we need to get going!

it was a crazy game, one of those where everything goes one way, I have had those games where a point blank shot with an empty net and missnyisles16 wrote:Cloud wrote:Real Madrid hosted Juventus this evening in a what turned out to be an offensive show for the Spanish Armada. i dont think so..

heh - with your team speed killing me, i kept thinking of Kareem's line from Airplane -- "I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes."
