Re: Forza 6
And as expected, Apex is ridiculously cool. Absolutely stunning visually, and handles just like the XB1 version. Pretty damn awesome for free.
Re: Forza 6
I like that it uses the same tactile triggers that the XB1 uses. No PC game I'd run into used those yet, so that was a nice touch.
Runs brilliantly, as well.

Re: Forza 6
What are the PC specs you both are running? Are the drivitars you are racing against from your Xbox friends list? Can it be setup in a 3 monitor configuration? Sorry for all the questions, I am jealous.
Re: Forza 6
Getting a little long in the tooth on the CPU front now, but it still works on most games:
CPU: INTEL CORE i7-4930K
MOBO: ASUS Sabertooth X79
RAM: 32GB (8GBx4) DDR3/2133MHz
VIDEO: GTX Titan X 12GB
I did see guys from my XBox Friends list last night. DChaps in particular flew by me in one section of Sebring when I got tangled up with some of the other cars. I was looking around and noticed 5 or 6 guys from my friends list there: you, PK, Zeppo, a few others.
No idea on 3 monitor configuration, I only run it in 2560x1440x144Hz.

Re: Forza 6
My CPU is def getting long in the tooth, but like Terry, mine runs everything I want at full res on my 27" Monitor (2550x1440) so no need to upgrade yet. The only time I got any frame drops in F6 is when it's raining and there are a ton of cars in front of you visible...otherwise, it ran surprisingly well.
Intel Core i7-3770K
16GB Ram
NVidia GTX 980
Only ran a few free races, and didn't noticed the driveatars for some reason. And I don't know about the 3 screen setup either. Single screen for me.

Looks like the Achievements have been released as well, so maybe it is coming today. Pretty cool!It appears that Forza Motorsport 6 is about to get a licensed NASCAR expansion pack. Eagle-eyed Reddit user smarkel101 spied a new card at his local retailer that advertises the new pack and suggests that it'll cost £15.99 in the UK. The reverse of the card reveals that the expansion will contain a NASCAR World Tour Career Mode, 24 new cars from the 2016 NASCAR season, new multiplayer events, new display elements "for improved drafting and car spotting" and a new course - Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Forza Motorsport 6 NASCAR Expansion
America’s most popular form of motorsport is coming to the best-selling racing game of this generation. The NASCAR Expansion for Forza Motorsport 6 arrives today, bringing NASCAR to the world stage. This is an experience that only the comprehensive world of Forza Motorsport can deliver. The expansion features an all-new NASCAR World Tour career with over 10 hours of racing, representing the ultimate “What if…?” for racers around the world.
How would American stock cars fare against Australian V8s at Bathurst, or against WEC prototypes at Le Mans? With the NASCAR World Tour career, players will be able to live these fantasies and answer those questions for themselves, competing in unique events across the cosmopolitan lineup of tracks and circuits in Forza Motorsport 6. Whether battling it out against GT and endurance racers from the world’s top motorsports leagues, sharing the track with open wheelers from IndyCar and Formula E, or testing the limits on classic American ovals like Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Daytona International Speedway, this is NASCAR like you’ve never experienced it before.
The intensity of driving these quintessentially American race cars is at the heart of the NASCAR Expansion experience. Players will be able to drive twenty-four 2016-season NASCAR models from teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, Chip Ganassi Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, and Team Penske, including the cars of top-flight NASCAR drivers Jimmie Johnson, Kurt Busch, and Chase Elliott. Johnson, Busch, and Elliott also serve as the stars of the “Voices of Motorsport” in the NASCAR Expansion, introducing fans to the history and technology of NASCAR.
Along with the new career mode and lineup of new cars, the NASCAR Expansion also includes a new destination – Homestead-Miami Speedway, available in all modes of play – as well as NASCAR-themed Rivals, Leagues and multiplayer hoppers, giving players the chance to experience NASCAR across the entirety of Forza Motorsport 6. And with the addition of brand new features such as rolling starts, a new Quick Stop mode, and a more complex drafting model, the NASCAR Expansion adds new levels of strategy and tension to pack racing in game.
Get ready for a whole new way to race with the Forza Motorsport 6 NASCAR Expansion – available for $20 – coming today, only on Xbox One.
NASCAR Expansion Content
The NASCAR Expansion for Forza Motorsport 6 features 24 NASCAR cars from the 2016 NASCAR season, representing five of the most celebrated and successful teams in series history. Here’s a closer look:
Chip Ganassi Racing
Chip Ganassi has a deep history in racing, winning his first race at age 18 in a Formula Ford. Ganassi raced in CART and in sports cars with success before buying into Patrick Racing in 1988 and later forming his own race team, Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR), in 1990. Since then the team has grown from a single CART entry to two cars in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and two in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, four cars in IndyCar Series, two cars in in the WeatherTech United SportsCar Championship, two in the World Endurance Championship, and two Global Rallycross teams. Together these teams have collected 18 championships and more than 160 wins. In NASCAR you will find Jamie McMurray driving the Chevrolet #1 McDonald’s/Cessna Chevrolet SS and Kyle Larson behind the wheel of the #42 Target Chevrolet.

Joe Gibbs Racing operates four NASCAR Sprint Cup cars with Denny Hamlin driving the #11, 2015 Sprint Cup Champion Kyle Busch behind the wheel of the Toyota #18 Camry, Carl Edwards in the #19, and Matt Kenseth in the #20.

The team has built itself up to run four teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series. Danica Patrick is currently the only female driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series piloting the #10, Stewart races the #14, Kevin Harvick is in the #4, and Kurt Busch drives the #41. Homestead-Miami Speedway
Born in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew, which devastated the area in 1992, Homestead-Miami Speedway was built as part of the region’s reconstruction. The original layout was a rectangular oval modeled after Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However, due to the track’s shorter length (about 1.5 miles) passing was difficult and made for dangerous crash angles. After attempts to widen the aprons did not resolve the problems, Homestead received a massive reconfiguration in 1997, turning the track into a true oval. Further renovations such as improved banking and lighting for night racing have made it not only a fan favorite, but the home of the NASCAR championship races since 2002. The track also features a road course for sports cars, making Homestead-Miami a justifiably famous and inarguably sunny racing destination.http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/ne ... _expansion
Re: Forza 6
Wow, all sorts of good Forza news today! Yaay!!! for rolling starts, now we can come close to a proper Indianapolis 500, although three wide would be nice.

Forza Motorsport 6 May Content Update
Brian Ekberg
Today we announced the NASCAR Expansion for Forza Motorsport 6, which you can read more about here. Alongside the new content featured in the expansion, we are also releasing a content update today, which includes a number of brand new features. These features have all been created to improve the racing experience for Forza Motorsport 6 players and, while some are introduced formally in the NASCAR Expansion experience, all of these features are available to Forza Motorsport 6 players regardless of whether or not they have purchased the NASCAR Expansion.
This update to Forza Motorsport 6 is our largest and most significant content update to date. Here’s a closer look at the new features and how they will make the racing experience better for all Forza 6 players:
HUD Proximity Arrows – New on-screen HUD arrows will provide players with information on cars in close proximity. Especially useful for players who prefer to use cockpit or hood perspective when driving, these optional HUD proximity arrows indicate surrounding traffic and will give players that extra chance of avoiding costly wrecks.
Drafting and Drivatars – Making the most of the draft is more important than ever in Forza Motorsport 6. Now, players will be able to feel the intense effects of the draft on their cars’ performance as they fight for every inch at close quarters. In addition, Forza Motorsport 6’s Drivatar opponents have been refined to manage the intricacies of tight pack racing at high speeds, where every inch counts.
Quick Stop – In racing, victory has always required quick reflexes. Forza 6’s new Quick Stop feature means that strategy will play a bigger role than ever. In Quick Stop race mode, all cars are required to take at least one mandatory pit stop before the end of a race. As the race unfolds, choosing an early or late lap for your Quick Stop can be the difference between winning and losing.
Rolling Starts – Now players will have the option to select a rolling starts option for races. Rolling starts offer an exciting alternative to traditional standing starts, giving the players the chance to experience the thrill of green flag starts at speed. Rolling starts also allow the grid to spread out, in turn reducing the number of first-corner accidents.
New Damage Option – For Forza players that love endurance racing, we’ve added a brand new damage option – cosmetic damage with fuel and tire wear. This option is ideal for players who want to experience the challenge of racing long distances while their fuel burns down and tires gradually lose grip, without having to worry about a single crash disabling their car and ruining their race results.
Multiplayer Le Mans – Le Mans has returned to online multiplayer! For the first time in Forza Motorsport 6 players will be able to race on Le Mans’ Old Mulsanne and Full Circuit ribbons in multiplayer hoppers and Leagues.

Thanks for the info., Don. I have no interest in paying $20 so I can race a POS stock car against a GT or prototype thoroughbred at Le Mans. But the other update looks really cool!

Re: Forza 6
Cool updates, I'm on the fence about the NASCAR content. I'm sure Turn 10 did a nice job with the NASCAR career mode, but their AI on ovals hasn't been a strong suit. I might take the plunge if I see positive impressions from the right people.

Re: Forza 6
If they gave us more than one oval (or semi oval) it might be worth it for 20 bucks, but one track? Come on.
Re: Forza 6
Damn, I am out of the loop in the sim racing world. Let us know when you can officially share more.TCrouch wrote:I wouldn't even bother, personally. There's a NASCAR game coming this fall that is pretty much the second coming.
Yeah, I don't get the race the Nascar against Indycars, GT's, etc. Seems like an easy way to make it seem like a career add-on without substantially changing the game. The Porsche add-on had a lot of cars too. While this says 24 cars or whatever, it's really three(Chevy, Ford, Toyota) with different paint schemes. I am a sucker for tracks though. I would have paid $20 for VIR even without the Porsche's. Love that track and Turn 10 has done a great job with the tracks in Forza 6. Granted Homestead is not the most interesting track, but with the road course layouts and the fact that it has been a venue for multiple motorsports I will probably still pick this one up.pk500 wrote:Thanks for the info., Don. Re: Forza 6
Agreed on the Porsche expansion. That was worth every penny of $20, with those incredible cars and VIR. Charging the same for a sh*tty, cookie-cutter oval and a bunch of identical, lumbering stock cars is a waste, IMO. I may have considered otherwise if we got a short track such as Bristol or Martinsville, or Talladega.
I also had no idea about this NASCAR game. Do tell, Terry!

Re: Forza 6
I am actually enjoying this Nascar update so far. The AI has been pretty good in the couple of races I have had. Below is a video of my first race at Homestead in Hardcore Mode (no assists, no driving line, damage enabled, cockpit view, clutch on). This was at Expert AI (two below the highest). In a 10 lap race I could only get to 3rd and the AI ran decent, although a little slow in the corners. The menu music has changed to have a slight country vibe to it. I usually turn off all music anyway (unless it is Horizon). I am enjoying Homestead so far, currently 10th in the Hardcore leader board for R Class but I am sure that will not last long.
Re: Forza 6
I'm enjoying it too DChaps. I had a few races on ovals with guys from the Forza Reddit....quite fun.
These cars are easier to drive than I expected.
Also love the proximity markers that came separate from the NASCAR update.
Forza & NBA 2k16 are all I've really played since last September. Love both games.

They finally "officially" Announced this this morning:

Exact same team that created Dirt to Daytona, which is one of my favorite NASCAR games of all time. They ditched 100% of the ETX code, and the only thing used from those games is the art assets. The network code is being done by a VERY experienced team, so this is the big one. If it sucks, I'll eat crow until I'm 400 pounds, but this is the one I've been waiting for.

The original NASCAR Heat was bad-ass. Best physics of any NASCAR console racing game I've played, by some distance. A tough game -- it was the DIRT Rally of NASCAR console games.
Good news!

I was interested in the Nascar expansion but the DLC didn't mention if it includes any Nascar tracks. I only saw 24 licensed cars. Does it come with any tracks?
Re: Forza 6
Only new track was Homestead, I believe. It had Daytona and Indy in it. Already had Sonoma and the Glen (I think).

Forza Racing Championship and the free 2016 #66 Ford GT Le Mans Race Car
Paul already made a nice post about this in the racing sim thread, but I thought it deserved a mention here as well. Particularly with the race tomorrow and there is also a 24 hour challenge in Forza 6 to go along with the new Ford GT and the race. Also, if you haven't got your gift car yet, the code will be in you Xbox live messages/notifications, not in the game. You get the code, redeem the code, then you will see the car as a free car when you go to buy cars. Took me about a week to figure it out. This car is really fun to drive.
There was also the announcement of the Forza Racing Championship coming this summer to Forza 6. Not much detail on this yet, and hopefully it will be better than the Leagues implementation in Forza 6 which was one of the more underwhelming parts of the most recent title, in my opinion anyway.

2016 #66 Ford GT Le Mans Race Car
Marking 50 years since Ford’s overall victory at Le Mans in 1966, the Ford GT brings the blue oval back to the highest level of sports car racing. In 2016, two Ford GTs are competing with Ford Chip Ganassi Racing in the IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Championship, and two more cars are running in the FIA World Endurance Championship with outstanding results in both series. Now, all four Ford GTs are together at Le Mans and ready to complete for glory. Upon the car’s debut at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the red, white, and blue liveried car has been a crowd favorite. At Laguna Seca the #67 car driven by Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe collected the team’s first win. In the WEC, the #67 scored a second place at the Six Hours of Spa. With its full aero kit sucking up downforce and the twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 delivering reliable, efficient power, this latest incarnation of the Ford GT is poised to make another historic run at the world’s most famous endurance race.
