I'm not a fan of the putting. There is no touch whatsoever. You basically set the putt up with distance, etc. taking into account incline/decline and then complete the swing with the left stick. If you set it up right it will go in. You must have a straight stroke but that's not too hard to accomplish. Pace isn't even in the picture from what I can tell.

Gonna stream a round at Bay Hill from black tees, decent wind, Sunday flags.

Played a few holes. Definitely feels too easy to hit straight shots. I haven't played enough holes, and this is with Rory, who ought to have the ability to easily hit straight shots. We'll see how out created golfers go. Otherwise, Advanced Shot Shaping (diagonal swings) or three-click might be be worth taking a look at.

Putting just feels off right now. I won't make a judgement on it for awhile, because I think it might just take getting a feel for the system. But I right now, there is no feel to it. What I've done in the past, and will do here is play with putt preview on for awhile, which will help me feel for whatI need to do to adjust for straight, and how much to adjust for the slope.

I did decide to test out the play from anywhere, and, well, this works as advertised. You could literally shoot all over the entire course. The only problem I ran into was an automatic end when I doubled par. Of course, if I don't occasionally slice the hell out of the ball, this really won't matter.

The game looks and feels great otherwise. The presentation is solid, and the commentary is perfect.

I'm not sure how much time I will have with the game for awhile, but I will try to post more impressions. I know you guys will want to hear about the Night Club.

Maybe I'm missing something but when you are within reach of the pin it automatically sets you up for the exact distance to the pin. I dont like that at all. You still have to adjust for wind and elevation but it shouldn't put you right on the pin like that. Still figuring some stuff out. Swing pace does matter so that's a plus.

Shot a +3 my first 18 hole round. The only reason I shot over par was a triple I took on a water hole where I was trying to figure some things out. The only thing I can see making this game VERY challenging would be extreme wind. Still early.

I am not seeing that Tour mode is so easy since I have been playing strictly Career Mode with a new CAG. Yes, it is easy to hit straight, but tempo plays a HUGE role in the shot results. And putting is anything but automatic in Tour mode.

So far in Career, I have only played 4-5 holes of each round of the Web.com tour event (1) and the first PGA TOUR event after earning my TOUR card is the same. I hope this is not how Career Mode is or I will be a PO'd MF....

Yeah, I overstated the putting thing.
The courses are damn pretty so far.

Having some fun with the Classic mode. It's not as easy as you might think. I just wish I could turn off all the aids in Classic mode.

Update: It appears the first two Career mode events (Web.com to get your PGA TOUR card) and the Bioware Open simmed part of each round while you get to play 6 or so holes. Just fired up Bay Hill Invitational and it looks like the real 4 round PGA TOUR mode. Whew. Will report back later to verify. Also going to go to Custom swing mode to dial up the difficulty a bit.

Ten hours? Nice. That may be far more than I want to play the game. Didnt play TGC that much. :P

Hate all I want but EA access is cool. 8)

If you did not like TGC, you may like this better....RM is way prettier and it makes me feel like I am playing on the PGA TOUR.

Seems like most first impressions were 'meh' but not wanting to give up on it yet. I don't know doesn't seem too promising from all I'm reading. I think a $5 EA Access is worth the ability to save $50. Going to go grab it.

Nothing to lose with EA Access, especially if you don't have every recent EA Sports or EA game already in your library. Tons of fun for just 30 bones per year.

I just went into "Custom" Gameplay Style and there are way more things to tweak to make things harder than I thought! Swing Difficulty, Lie Effect, Wind Gust, Green Grid, etc. now we are talking.

I'll be using the Advanced swing most of the time but 3 Click is fun as hell with all aids turned off and the difficulty cranked. Cool thing is you can create and save multiple custom gameplay modes :)

Just finished a Weekly Online tournament at TPC Boston and shot -2 on Custom Mode/hardest settings. Ended up with two drives in the trees/heavy rough and bogeyed one and managed to birdie the other as it was a par 5. I am finding no two swings are the exact same and Tempo plays a HUGE factor in shot results. Shutting it down for the night and I will hit it again early in the AM. So far, I am liking what I am seeing, but it is still early and I need alot more time and many more rounds before I will know what I have here....
